Seeking Ikea Goat Xi Fa Cai $8888 Goat Head Card !
Beeblebrox000 replied to meow's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Hope you find the other half of the card! Good luck. -
Can anyone recommend light switches that look good and are durable? Other than Choo Chiang marketing, where else can I go to look for light switches? Thank you for your help.

I need to buy some chairs for the study room. The floor is parquet. Will the office chairs with wheels ruin the floor? Ikea sells a type of protective plastic floor covering/mat but the label says it is not for parquet floors. Are there special wheels that won't ruin parquet floors?

Oh dear, I feel sorry for your Juicy Saliff. The scarecrow idea is quite creative though. BTW, do you have a study room? If you do, did you buy chairs with wheels or stationary chairs? Do chair-wheels damage parquet floors? Does anyone know the answer to this? Thank you.

Thanks for the info. We were thinking of redoing the staircase too but will only do so in a few years' time. The current budget isn't big enough! I really love your house and Green Giraffe's. I have been following both your blogs - no time for the other blogs.

OMG Green Giraffe! I have the Juicy Salif too! I'll be displaying it on a kitchen shelf once the (slow) contractor finishes building it. I bought it in April (have always wanted it - esp after the Men In Black II movie) but I haven't displayed it yet. I bought it as a kitchen display piece - not as a functional thing. Do you actually use yours???

Since moving in, I have killed 5 cockroaches (with Baygon spray) - I'm terrified of them and will spray them from a long distance away. Has anyone tried this product - Ultimate AT pest controller? It's supposed to use ultrasonic technology to drive the insects away. Do I need to buy one for every storey? http://www.olee.com.sg/prod_pestcontrol_UltimateAT.html

We're thinking of changing the staircase too (ours looks like your old one!!). Which contractor did you use? Did you use stainless steel or iron?

I was drooling when I saw your pics. The double height living room is so impressive. I love your bathrooms ! The whole decor/theme is gorgeous. Congratulations!!

GG, You've really decorated your house well. It looks gorgeous!! Will it be featured in a magazine spread anytime soon? Are your wooden stools and the dining table from d'bodhi? BTW, thankfully your child wasn't hurt by the shattered glass door! It must have given him quite a shock. Hope you gave him a big cuddle after the incident.

Where can I find modern sleek-looking microwave ovens? I saw some nice LG ones but they are convection-cum-microwave ovens.

Has anyone tried Krazy Kloth? I bought it from Home-Fix recently. It claimed to have 1000's of uses. It was said to be able to remove all sorts of stains etc. I bought one to try as my floor tiles were badly stained. When I took out the cloth (from the plastic egg-like container), it was sticky and grimy. Then when I started to use it to clean the floor tile, the whole cloth disintegrated into bits of string!! It all just fell apart in a matter of seconds. Some of the floor stains were gone but not all. In fact the cloth left behind some darker stains on some parts of the tile. I can't re-use the cloth again. It's in small pieces now - like disintegrated wet tissue! Has anyone had the same experience? Or was I just sold a faulty cloth? I'm thinking of taking it back to Home-fix to get my money back.

Dear GG, Be careful about the fishes!! When we bought our house from the previous owners, we took over their koi pond and mini-pond too. We were not keen on having fishes but we thought we could just learn about them as we went along. The owner left behind 4 koi in the koi pond and 6 goldfish-type fishes in the mini-pond. In total, there were 10 fishes. That was 2 months ago. We are now left with 3 fishes!! (1 koi and 2 goldfish). It freaked me out when they started dying - one by one!! The worst was seeing one big fat koi floating dead on the pond, with another fat one lying dead at the bottom of the pond. I screamed like a banshee and the contractor's workers had to get rid of them for me. I'm "scared" of fishes! The second worst incident was when I saw a white dead fish at the bottom of the mini-pond - it had been dead for some time and it was part-flesh, part-skeleton. Like a zombie fish!! I had to phone the fish-guy to get rid of that - not cheap (on a sunday morning). Incidentally the zombie fish was the mudsucker. They are hardy creatures and are not supposed to die easily! There were also 2 small black fish in the mini-pond - we couldn't find them. No skeletons/no bodies. They are gone - just like that. I then begged the fish-guy to convert the mini-pond into a fishless water feature. He did that and now i'm pleased with it. The water is chlorinated and clear. When there was fish in it, it was always green and dirty. The koi pond remains. So GG, please think carefully about rearing fishes. They die so easily (in my case, at least). In Chinese culture, it is good to have fish in the pond but I think i would prefer a jacuzzi or a fishless water feature.

Dear GG, Thank you for your reply. When we chose the black marble sink at d'bodhi, we didn't notice any cracks - but then we were not actually looking closely at the sink. We didn't inspect it at all. We are quite naive and trusting most times. After reading about your comments about cracked sinks, I had the confidence to phone them again. This time, they suggested we meet them with photos of the sink and to discuss the next step. When we arrived at the shop, they saw the photos and showed us the available sinks at the shop. We didn't choose any of the sinks there as hubby didn't dare trust marble sinks anymore. The shop had some lava stone sinks but they were all sold out when we were there. Anyway, the shop staff was reasonable enough to allow for a "swap". We will return the sink to them and we get to choose a furniture item of similar value (or we top up the value if it is a more expensive item). This suits us fine so we left the shop relieved and pleased. We haven't found the furniture item we wanted yet so we will probably visit Journey East or wait for the new collection from d'bodhi before we decide on it. Thanks for telling me about the sister shop, Journey East. I really like the furniture design at d'bodhi - hopefully we can find a suitable coffee table from there soon. By the way, I love your house design. It looks gorgeous - even before the furniture has been put in. It actually looks bigger than the build-up area of 2800 sq ft. My place's build-up area is 2700 sq. ft but it looks much more smaller than yours! Good luck with the move and the unpacking. Which movers did you use? I had over 110 boxes - and have only managed to unpack 16 boxes so far. I moved 1 month ago. I think it will take me 6 months to unpack everything. MY kitchen is only 75% ready so I can't enjoy my hosue fully yet. Sigh! The backyard is also a mess! Hope everything goes smoothly for you!!

Hi green giraffe, I found ur blog after I was searching for info about d'bodhi sinks. We bought a black marble sink from them but before its installation, we found that it was all cracked at the marble veins! There was glue in the cracks. The sink was delivered all wrapped up so we didn't check it properly when it first arrived. Now the shop is saying that it was my contractor who broke it and glued it together. My contractor said when they unwrapped it, they found it all already cracked and glued up. She said the marble must have cracked during the manufacturing process and they glued it up and sold it to us. I don't know what to do now. Did u buy the black square/rectangle marble sink? Were there any cracks? What does ur contractor think about this?
