  1. Hi, Can I check where and how much you paid for the above mentioned? How is the performance so far? Tks.
  2. Guys, thank you so much for the advice and sharing. Will check out more before deciding. Cheers.
  3. Het, How was the sound pairing with the Onkyo 608? And how much you paid for your receiver? I am comtemplating with either 608 or Yamaha 667, but Kelvin from KEF told me he find it difficult to tune the speakers with other amps (he recommend Pioneer 920). Read somewhere in forum that Pioneer price in Spore jack up too high comparing to US price.
  4. Bro Vicenzo70, After going around to audition speaker system (B&W MT30/ Def Tech/ Tannoy Arena/ Floor Standing), we have decided and bought the KEF KHT3005SE-White from Adelphi ($2700). Was reading your previous post, you mentioned that the speakers being 8 ohms will need more power to drive it if the receivers are under power. Not really sure what you mean by that, would be nice if you can provide some education here. Kelvin from KEF actually recommend Pioneer VSX-920K receivers for the speakers system, and he mentioned that it is more than sufficient for my living room area of (Front 3.7m x Depth 4.5m). He also demonstrated the internal cooling fan effect which keep the receiver temp down. To simplify the matters, maybe you can give me some answer to the following query : Speakers Specs : KHT3005SE speaker input impedance 8 ohms / Power handling 100W Receiver Specs : VSX-920K power output Front/Center/Surround 6 ohms, 125W/ch <<Does the 6 ohms output for the receiver mean that POWER CONSUMPTION will be higher to drive the 8 ohms speakers or the speaker will under-perform because the receiver can only reach 6 ohms?>> <<I presume that the receiver having 125W/ch is capable to handle the 100W speaker in this configuration, correct?>> If this receiver is not good enough, does it mean that I will need to get a matching receiver that can give power output for Front/Center/Surround @ 8 ohms and minimum 100W/ch? And would be nice if you can recommend a receiver model that can give justice to this speakers system. Thank you in advance.
  5. Hi guys, I just went down to Adelphi to audition some speakers. I tested the Wharfedale Diamond 10HCP, Tannoy Arena, Def Tech Pro cinema 1000, Boston acoustics and Tannoy DC6T. All these speakers range from sat to floor standing. Of all, I love the sound from Tannoy DC6T the most with only 2.1 stereo. As mentioned in my previous thread, I am looking for a system that can bring out the music more than movies sound. Alan from KEC quoted me the followings: Speakers: Tannoy DC6T (2.1) w/o center spkr - $2850 Onkyo 608 - $750 Velodyne sub CHT8Q - $799 Instal & calibration - $80 Optional Cyrus 8xP audio amp - $3100 He told me that the sys without the amp will sound different and not as good. Honestly, the overall of 7500 shot way above my budget of 4k. But I really like the sound, can someone give me some advice and is the a/m quote reasonable? Is KEF speakers better than Tannoy within the same price range (KEF closed for holiday)? Thinking of going down again tomorrow, pls advice. Tks
  6. Tks Heronspring, if is floor standing speakers which one would you recommend? I might need to convince my wife again by bringing her together for the audition. Ladies usually cannot appreciate big speakers, I will have to impress her with the sound quality. Hopefully the speakers can blend well with the design concept. I will keep my option open before audition. Cheers.
  7. Hi bros and vicenzo70, I am going to renovate my new apartment very soon and thinking of getting a decent HTS to blend. My WAF wanted a Bose 48 because of the small jewel cube speakers. But after going through this forum, I managed to convince her that it is not worth going for a overprice 6k Bose for the overated sound quality. My new living room is rather small, so I'm looking for something small (just to keep it close to BOSE size that my wife wanted). My budget is around 4k for everything in (av receiver, speakers, sub, region free player, power amps-if require, cabling, etc) Kindly give some advice on which combo is harmonous for 60% music & 40% movies: AV Receiver : Yamaha or Onkyo (Which model) Speakers : KEF-KHT3005SEW w/HTB2SE-W, B&W MT30 or Tannoy Areana Sub : any recommendation? Player : OPPO 80/83 or other brand Any recommendation for a balcony speaker? Would appreciate if get give an estimate of the components cost so that I know how to bargain. Tks in advance.
