Some quotations are cheap because they reuse the existing gas pipe and water pipe. I am not sure in long run, will it create a problem? .. Lesson learnt : Ask whether they reuse the existing gas pipe and water pipe. What is the material used?

It is the cement dirt that is the worst. They are so easily fly around and difficult to clean. I also clean up after I reach home from work, tired ..... It is definitely not-adviseable to do renovation when you are living in unless there is no choice.

Re-runing of Aircon trunking: Unfortunately, during the first installation, I forgot to consider the trunking routing, as a result it is very ugly. I need to re-run the aircon trunking, still talking to and getting some qoutations from the aircon contractors before making a decision. Old layout: New layout (wanted): Lessons learnt: Painful and costly

Mitsubishi Electric System 3 inverter Aircon: The System 3 consists of MMXY-3A28VA (QTY=1) , MSY-GA10VA (QTY:2 ) and MSY-GA13VA (QTY:1 ) The MSY-GA10VA fancoils are for the two bedroom and MSY-GA13VA fancoil is for the living room. The MSY-GA13VA is 1.5hp as compared with MSY-GA10VA is 1hp. I brought the system 3 two years ago with the price less than $3000 (should be) with installation and it also comes with Stainless Steel Bracket and Power Point. It is from Tai Wah Aircon (authorised dealer for Mitsubishi Electric Aircon). Call them for a quotation, and their price is very resonable and their service is friendly. I received a quotation of $550 for running 3 fan coils but one of the fan coils position does not move but its trucking (where the pipe and gas) needs to increase because two gas pipes and one water pipe now. It all depends on the distance and the amount of changes needed. Better to get the aircon guy to do a site quotation.

The sliding door problem is a very bad experience for me and my wife, the price is much higher than the sliding glass door and yet the quality is a very bad (hollow door, poor finishing, poor installations, etc). It is up to the main contractor and the sub-contractors, I have push him for the rectification of Al door before. After some uses, it goes back to the original position; You are right, the best is to change the one piece Al door to ensure smooth closing. Overall Al works and doors works from B*** I***** have bad workmanship.

Senz - Kelvin Price : Not the best in town, slightly higher than the average. Sub-contractors : Some good, some bad ... even now the Al door is not smoothly after some uses; still stuck by the rivets even after the recfication done. See the T-blog for more details on the sub-contractors. Progress of work : Slow Rectification of work : Slow... sometimes, he himself done it.... Design : No comment as I design myself. Overall : Ok, not the best, quite new in this area.

Kitchen Cabinet Last Friday, the cabinet contractor (I think he is the boss) came to install the glass doors and hood cover. During the installation, he found that one of the wooden door has problem; wobble or the thickness is different compared with other doors. Without thinking, he removes the door and brings back to the factory to redo. Very automatic! Before the glass doors installation After the glass doors installation Overall: Good workmansip but very slow and expensive (should try to go direct)

Sliding Kitchen Door Defects Beside the paint problem that I have discussed, this is the two defects that are not so obvious that I have accepted. Bo piah ah ... 1. The end of the sliding door track cover is not straigth at all. 2. The bottom of the door. Actually the door side must be flat, however, during the installation of the door, the roller at the bottom is not installed properly and furthermore, I think the door is made too small in term of width. The bottom of the both side of the door cracked. As a result, they cut a slot at both sides to let the roller can slide. Before rectification Right side: Left side: After rectification: The worst part is the contractor Kelven tell me is always done like that. Try to "smoke" me.

Stress Test on the cabinet drawers I have come across someone's blog on his renovation, this is how he do the stress test on the cabinet drawers: 1. Put the wieight of 21kg inside the drawer 2. See whether the drawer slide smoothly or not. 3. Further increase the weight to 30kgs o more and test the smoothness of the sliding drawers. Advantages: It can check the alignment of the drawer tracks and the workmanship of the cabinet contractor. Furthermore, it can check any parts is missing during installation. But I never do it........ Please see the blog below: http://renovation-greencoal.blogspot.com/2...takes_6183.html
