hopefully the eventual product is at least smiliar to the drawings. overall its about 25K. bascially the work includes: knocking tiles for entire hourse new tiles for entire house carpentry include master wardrop, shoe cabinet in hall, kitchen cabinet, tv console glass sliding door diving hall and kitchen slight re-wiring work building partition for store room providing sliding door and store rm and 2x toilet. and small minor repair work aournd the house. Now shopping for furnitures. anyone has experience with catalogue furnitires? pls share as i am seroius considering

Hi Everyone, thanks for alll the kind advise many of you have generously offered. i been through ups and down recently, considering everything. Finally, we decided to take a loan to do up the house. i dont know if this is the right decision....i will have to bear the brunt.... Anyway, this is it. I got an ID (jacky from IDEAL DESIGN INTERIOR) to do up my house, which will hopefully be comfy and livable for at least the next 10 yrs Pls allow me to share the design: These drawings are not that accurate... Let me know your comments ok? Work in progress liao and should complete around mid nov...just in time for me to move in before my wedding. Stressful times..... i hope everything goes well.

Hi baby81984, wow...looking back, i am sure you guys really enjoyed the whole process....frankly reading you post made me feel very touched....how you guys built your home as a team together..enjoying and suffering together. Well Done guys! thanks for inspiring us. frankly, i am able to give up....as most are telling me that renovating (just renovating the house) will need 20 to 30K....especially after talking to IDs. i hate the idea of having to succumb to them and loan again.... actually my budget is same as yours. I will study your blog and try to learn from you guys heheh Thanks a lot!

Hi Gals Mama, ....i am now very very doubtful liao.....and very scared... the thing about my wish to change the tiles and the kitchen cabinet...in spite of them being really useable....is that i know i wont be please with them...and in time to come (especailly the tiles) it will be nearly impossible to change... we are not creative people who have lovely ideas for their home...for us...we really just like to have a simple, spacious and comfortable house....but....TOTO failed to touch me last night....and my situation is still the same so you are right! Prioritise!

Honestly i am trying extremly hard to ensure that i stay within 15K. higher renovating cost go....the less i have for furnitures and electronic etc...(which is sadly about $10K ) after reading from you guys, i think i got to priorities the things i got to do first. but for now....i will try to get some ID and contractors and see their quote.....from there...deduct accordingly lor.... what you thnk of my up hill strategy?

Hi Gimz, You are right, i think i was dumb to tell him about my bigger than bull cart wheel $15K when we introduced ourself heheh.... frankly the kitchen cabinet and tiles are not the modern kind and the colour....are not what we like...haiz....my empress can tahan the tiles, and hate the cabinet. whereas i am the exact opposite i will try to post the picture later ....to let you guys be the judge

This is indeed time when i really need lots of advice....as we really know nothing about reno... Ok! my bubble is burst.....sounds like my wish list is not attainable. below are my scaled down dream list: - the basics (repainting+plastering+acid wash.....etc) - Only repainting - change tiles for entire house - change floor tiles for entire house, and have wall tiles only for toilet...is this doable? - build updated kitchen cabinet - i will try my best to talk my empress to accept...the outdated cabinet....am i right that changing cabinet in future will be easier than tiles? - build msbr build in waredrop - i think this got to do la hor.... - overhaul the 2 toilets - this one i think also cannot run - build up a store room (ex owner hacked it) - this one cannot run also... - rewiring (do you guys think its needed? since it was last done 5 yrs ago) - i hope that i can skip this one as well. (the wiring of my existing house...was done...in 1978 when my parents took over the house hahah...and its hardly giving us any problem at all....so i think this one should be able to survive ba) Do you guys think its better? Do you think an inexperience person like me can skip ID and manage the contractors by myself? From what i read...there are indeed miracles. here is my sad story....i only have 15K budget to renovate house (take keys next wk). this unit is last renovated 5yrs ago.
