My First Home :)
luvalist replied to MsChocobanana's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB Resale Renovation & Interior Design
wow! I really love the way you guys revamped the entire house. Your hubby sounds like my kind of an ideal ID but unfortunately I completed my reno last year with some problems. So we didn't really enjoyed the whole renovation process. all I thought was this industry is really out to tok people! lol. camping by to see your final products~ Have fun with your reno! -
Thanks for dropping by! haha. Errrrrr... green wall is still looking fine except some pots died.. In fact, a few pots keep dying so initially we gotten the greenwall guys to come repot.. then we realised can just go to Thomson area to buy the pots and DIY - a lot cheaper! So from then, my hubby made it a point to go Thomson buy the plants and repot.. we repotted abt less than 20 pots I think since we moved in. It's not bad, we are still loving the green. If I am not wrong, the ID quoted us $2.7 for the brick wall. most likely that's slightly above market rate de. They like to tok us. lol. go check out Jumpstreet's T-blog ya, his wall is white and carrotcakegirl's...

Yup I think I get it. Not sure if it's because my wall is too thin that my ID didn't consider this idea but highly likely it's because my ID didn't plan well enough! I like your contractor leh, seems like a well-planned move and made everything so neat! Can't wait for your next update -

Hi hi. Good progress! Can I just check with you on the brick wall? Really neat to have that PVC pipes and holes for the wires. but the tiler hide it behind the wall? Trying to understand how is it done. I had a brick wall too but sadly the tiler cut out the brick after laying them and it was badly done. The TV wires are directed into the room behind the wire, everything is so messy and disorganised for me -
Hi! Just wanna say ur house look fabulous!!

akkywendy, thanks for popping by! maybe it does come in handy in years to come but definitely not now! everythiing seems to be in use on a weekly basis so it's quite dumb to put it up there. we have extra cups though but I won't risk climbing up and putting there for fear that I would drop them while transporting up and down. not a careful person u see! The top cabinets at my mum's place are already cluttered, dusty and things up there have not been cleaned up. I guess we are just lazy! hahaha. Erm, we spotted bugs, flies, snail... The soil fell onto the kitchen top, floor as and when.. I won't call it maintenance free like what the green wall people claims..! keep spotting dried brown leaves, dunno if we really lack of green fingers! not the lushful greens we saw initially! and still not lushful to cover the black wall behind.. but we are still hanging on! lol..

Hey Filthyfingers, hope I ain't too late to reply you! I have connected the soundbar via HDMI but I couldn't find an option to open up the HDMI (they have all the connections except HDMI). I already given up on the soundbar. maybe I will play with the selection again when I have the time. Oh yeah, go do a T-blog! I hope to see your blog and you ard Spring soon! I really wish to take and upload photos for keepsake purposes and before the plants start dying. But my dog has just pooped on my rugs (2 somemore!). For those who are still interested in having a greenwall, we had some mealy bug, some fungus attack, found a small snail. So 4-5 pots on the greenwall is like dying. We tried contacting greenology and they said they will pop by to take a look but they didn't. Oh well, after paying is like that one lah. we had some gatherings in the house. and the great benefit of an open concept kitchen is that I can wash the plates and still join in conversations! but for budding chefs, not recommended for the oil splattering here and there! For those planning their renovations, please do space planning! all the top cabinets are put to waste because I can't reach it. We had almost used up our bottom cabinets

Thanks for dropping by bro!! We heard not many hdb do this. Haha. It's sprouting new leaves and looking good so far! Just need to be near a water inlet and outlet. You can consider it! I think u will love it too!

It's a freebie from Philips! Anyway it's useless. Hahah. Can't use for tv.

Ahhh where did u get the shower sticker so cute! Haha. But we don't have any glass panels to paste stickers. I see your frustration. Sigh. I know how u feel ya. We also disputed the soft closing hinges with our iD. And we are not asking for Blum! I am good with ikea. Haha. Anyway! Ur house is looking good! congrats!

Show you guys our temporary green wall: Temporary green wall by Sonic04, on Flickr Temporary because of the measurement. We asked them to cover the whole wall actually! nevertheless, we love it. And another problem surfaced - the water don't flow out of the water tray. Reason: they didn't slant the trays, they put it straight, of coz water won't flow out right. what are these pple thinking of?

Casa Italy from Paya Lebar! It was actually 3m long and for the price, it's a steal. maybe not a good leather but it's okay for us. Just abit apprehensive to recommend them because we found two small patch (really quite small) of leather fell off, so the delivery guy promise to go back to make arrangement to paint back the area. But we are still waiting for this to happen after this week. I am under the impression that the stove is gonna be in the middle. That difference, I can accept. And I did ask my ID whether we should build a partition to kinda box up the fridge from the stove but he said the distance is okay. And at that point, I always thought they are ID, they will know better to find a perfect match between design and functionality. I am big big wrong! In reality, they shifted the stove more to the right. WHICH they didn't inform us. If they put right smack in the middle, it may not be sooooo close? Then again, I appreciate them shifting to the right because I will have some space for spices, oil etc. It's a big dilemna. So you see, this is the kind of communications I get.

Hey! we are at Punggol. Are you on Facebook? We can exchange contact. I just spoke to another neighbour using the same company. She said the workmanship is *ahem*. We both feel that we can do a better job than them! lol. Ipineapple, we asked the Green wall pple to select the plants for us. Seems like it's money plant + blue fern. They said good for indoor. We installed on Sat, the plants are sprouting 2 new leaves by yesterday (monday). Yes, it went OOS! Haiz. But we bought it on ebay. They said instock but when we bought it, they went OSS. So they are STILL fabricating. Really to my luck. I also went Ikea to buy things, most of the things went OOS and discontinued, if not last piece.

Bro I agree with you! I think good designer should work around what you already have and what you want. Of course, what you already have and what you want shouldn't deviates very far away. and a good design shouldn't be pricey! Look at Bryan Wong's design. Really awesome.

Hello neighbour! We didn't hack it away, only build out from that wall. |box up area|built in oven| < You get what I mean? Are you on Facebook group? My future husband would have posted some photos too and you can pm him if you wanna pop by! Enjoy your reno please!

Thanks!! Very give up on those pple - ID, green wall pple.. All the same! Wanna earn easy money and don't wanna put efforts. Or rather they think they put in alot of efforts for us despite their busy schedule, but we feel that it's not enough... ID said not their fault and they have communicated the ideas to the green wall pple who said leave everything to them. Green wall pple said it's the ID who didn't contact them until last min! Haiyo... BREATH!! Inner peace!

We bought the sofa first before the design. It's from Casa Italy slightly over $1.8k. And the designer kept telling us it don't match the design! I tried selling but no taker. Thank god! Coz it turn out to be a good buy. Except some little patches of white leather came off and we are still waiting for Casa Italy pple to come and make good! Another thing is the bedframe. Too good to miss! That's tbe only two big buy before design came out. Oh and the green wall

Hihi! Thanks for dropping by! We have it temporary up! Will need to upload the photos. It is gorgeous but will look better if it covers the entire wall! But maintenance wise, must clean and clean and clean for now, dirt drop here and there. Hopefully as time passed, it's better! Defects wise, we just asked the ID to rectify those obvious ones. Small ones we actually give up! Then the wires behind the brick wall still messy, ID don't care. It's like the best they can do for us. We did ask for service recovery, they gave us soft closing hinges (they didn't provide but we disputed coz we heard it) for some kitchen cabinets and that's it. I feel like some beggars! I already told them i dont mind getting some soft close hinges at ikea for 2 for $9.90! Anyway, we paid the final payment and got nothing to do with them anymore.

Applause for our "luck"! Something wrong with the green wall yet again. There is a 15 cm gap all around the side of the green panels when it should cover the whole wall! Sigh. ID said it's the green wall guy who screwed it up, green wall guy said it's ID who screw it up! Whoever screw up, we as the owner pay for this mistake. The panels will be left in our house and Greenology will refabricate the wall for us.
-
Wah pek chek. The green wall pple say that the measurement is wrong 5cm difference!! So told us today cannot install. This is really unacceptable and I shouted at everyone here! How can the measurement be wrong? Our house didn't change for the last one mth! So he is taking it back to cut. Wasting our time to wait for them here.
-
Abt $3k for the wall. Maintenance wise *finger crossed* hehe. But we are setting a timer for the watering and bought the handy duster to clean the plant!
-
Installing green wall now! Anywhere just wanna rant... PE charged ID $650. ID charged us $650 + gst! Wtf. Dunno if they are overly transparent that they showed us the PE invoice or under transparent that they didn't tell us before. Maybe that's the common practice but just feel very eeks. Pictures to come soon!

Thanks! I hope it will still look like that after two year! Neat and clean!
