oh yah, what specification of belden cables should i purchase for my MT1 speakers? what sort of connection should i use? bare wire or should i crimp some sort of connectors myself? If crimping myself, what are the tools for the type of connectors used. thanks!

Well, one of the reason is because my entertainment room is pretty small and WAF is pretty strong here..... As both of us are not hardcore audiophile, so a decent sounding unit with wide capability to handle movies, gamings and music is sufficient. so far we both like what we hear from the MT30 setup... Maybe the 600 series sounds better but what we don't know wouldn't hurt that much maybe I can upgrade to a pair of front speakers from the 600/CM series when i upgrade in the future? The design of the PV1 is a piece of art by itself....well ..seem like my wife rather I spend more on the MT30 than the more popular and cheaper DefTech speakers/Velodyne sub combination.....it is pretty rare for her to want to spend more on a piece of non-fashion related stuff I initially wanted to go for onkyo 608 but decided to go for 708 for it's additional networking capability, better video upscale? and ability to auto-calibrate all 5.1 speakers (am I right?)

Yah, posted on xtreme forum cos not getting any response here;) I auditioned MT30 and a few other setups in Adelphi...well...the WAF is a major decision swinging factor I managed to get a cheaper price compared to quote from Experts Group...they are super stiff and un-accommodating in their pricing. So I will be getting the amplifier and MT30 delivered without installation... so I will need to get belden cables for my ID to run for the 5.1 setup now.

I have decided on the B&W MT30 + Onkyo TX-NR708 for my entertainment room. Where can I find the best place to buy it? Does it make sense to just buy the B&W MT30 from one shop and Onkyo 708 from another if they cost cheaper individually rather than the "packaged price" offered by 1-2 shops I came across. Thanks!

I was looking around the Fanco website and have a few questions which i hope u can help with: 1) Can u recommend Fanco's most powerful models with simple lines, no light attachments and I don't like the chain hanging down some of the models? 2) Can the speed regulator be substituted with aftermarket switch plate makers' such as Legrand/MK since I am trying to unify the switches throughout the house? 3) all the Fanco models can be adjusted for height? 4) is it better to attach the base to the false ceiling via bracket or directly to the concrete ceiling and passing through the false ceiling? 5) can PM me the prices of the models u recommended as I am getting 3 sets for my new place. Because my ceiling is pretty high (non-HDB) even with false ceiling, I probably need an extension rod. 1) Do V60WK come with extension rod? 2) If not which other model or brand is similar in construction (simple+no lights+powerful+remote)? Hi all, I am considering getting a digital lock for my new place and sort of narrowed down to a few brands and models. 1) As my door's lock-set and the latch/handle is separate similar to this: I think I have only 2 options: A) replace the lock-set with Digital Mortise lock without handle (and retain the latch/handle part) eg. Samsung SHS-3120 B) Remove the lock-set and fill up the hole. Replace the latch/handle with Digital Mortise lock with handle. eg. Samsung SHS-5120 Which one is more secure and practical? 2) My front door is basked in the hot sun from noon till sunset (direct rays from mid afternoon), as well possibly some splash of rain in heavy thunderstorm when the wind is strong..... the digital lock will need to withstand some tough conditions! From what I read, the maximum operating temperature for some of the locks are at 55 degrees celsius. So I am a little concern with regards to the feasibility of installing any of the above mentioned digital locks on my front door under such harsh condition. Anyone with experience in the above qns? Thanks!!

Technology wise, will 708 be more future proof compared to 608? Or it doesn't really matter once a new generation eg. 609/709 debut? oh, I'll be getting black...I think black will be less distracting in a darkened entertainment room.

After auditioning a few satellite speakers...I still prefer B&W's M1 and PV-1....it helps when the WAF is pretty high The one concern I have about the MT30 is the age....it's almost a 5-6yrs since the launch? You mean so far no other's have managed to usurp it from it's throne (especially with regards to it's recommendation status in whathifi) For onkyo 608...is there any point for me to top up for the 708? Should I get the speaker/sub wires that one of the dealer is trying to sell me as a package deal or should I just get better quality ones from belden etc? thanks once again!

AV amplifier - Onkyo SR608 vs yamaha V667 ( which one is better and more future proof?) Intending it for a relatively small dedicated entertainment room which will see 60% movie and 40% music. Hi all! recently happened to pass by a shop carrying this brand's product at Parkmall....biggest mistake!! Cos, once I tried, I cannot stand other recliners in the market... It is so comfortable! The prices are equally amazing... S$2 - 5k....per piece!! Anyone bought them and still think the price is worth while after the initial euphoria? Any place selling them at a discount or are their prices strictly controlled as claimed by the salesman. Thanks!

re: Q2, when it's a security issue when not all the keys and access cards are handed over to the new owner, if there is no legal obligation, why will any one bother to hand over any at all? I remembered when I sold my last place, I was scrambling to search out all the extra keys and access cards from my parents (for times when they pop over) because the agent told me we are legally obliged to hand over the original set of keys and access cards from the developer.

Hi all! I was at FC and saw their recliner sofa with electrical control just like the Gold Class cinema seats. It will be perfect for my entertainment room! I was about to place an order when I read the horror stories about them... Anyone knows of any other brands/stores carrying similar electrically controlled recliners? Hi all, I just bought a 13yr old apartment with underground carpark. I guess due to the age, it is still using remote controls (newer developments are using handsfree car transponders) to open the main gate leading to the underground carpark. The owner, by right, should be passing me one remote control when it's time for handover. Since both me and my wife drive a car each, we need 2 remote controls. I called up the MCST and was told that we will have no issue parking 2 cars as the development have ample parking lots, but the MCST guy was telling me that we are on our own in getting the 2nd remote as it was given out by the developer way back during the early days and the MCST is not holding or responsible for any spare remotes. Now, to make matter worst, after checking ard, the developer seem to have gone bust. Qns: 1) any suggestion to get the 2nd remote? 2) if in the event the previous owner lost his remote...is he legally liable to ensure that it is replaced during handover? 3) is it possible to clone such a remote and what is the expected cost? Any cons in doing this?. Thanks in advance!!!

I am in the process of shopping for a 55 inch tv for my entertainment room and a 42 inch tv for my living room. done a little asking ard, seem like LG seem like the no brainer choice in terms of price vs performance factor. I will like to ask the expert here, is the LG LE5500 series's local dimming a gimmick and is the Samsung's 6000 series's border lighting an issue??thks!
