  1. if teakwood is the best but hard to find someone reliable to duplicate. It's veneer. got 2 pieces for low 1.2K (one for living and one for entertainment) i thought the price is decent and cellini's quality is pretty ok. Decided to shift the drawer from the entertainment room piece to the living room one as I want more equipment space than storage space.
  2. found my TV console at Cellini 2m long and satisfied all my requirements. The drawer is a removable separate unit that can be removed to increase the space for the AV equipements
  3. no trunking...false ceiling throughout. Am concerned about balancing the fan though.
  4. Hi all! I bought a total of 3 fans from one of the neighbourhood electrical shops at a decent price. They don't do installation. Thus I have the option of 1) Getting the electrician doing up my whole house reno to install for me (already in the quote) 2) Getting the ceiling fan brand's in house installers to do the job but obviously have to pay for the labour What's the pros and cons of either option if we do not consider the extra labour charge? Will my electrician be able to do a proper job with the installation? Thanks!
  5. Different Onkyk amps have different depth... The higher end models are much larger and deeper. Need to consider the type of wires connected to the rear. Optic fibre, hdmi and subwoofer connector need much larger clearance at the rear...especially if the wire outlet is narrow and wires need to converge in a short span of distance. For my onkyo 708, I went for a 50cm depth console open front and rear for ventilation and clearance. The tough part is searching for such a off the shelf console as most are just too narrow and shallow.
  6. i prefer the clean look of storage heater as i can hide them in my false ceiling. I understand your point about the source of hot water being far from the tap...hmm...think i'll get the separate heaters then...just cross my fingers it will not rust on me
  7. my ceiling height is 3.2m. Can I install this model? Thanks!
  8. I agree with your point and it is a concern for me as well. But I'm also concern about having 2 out of 3 storage heater tanks that are used very infrequently. Is there any issue the stagnant water in the storage heater tanks for prolonged periods of time say more than 2-3 weeks at a stretch? That will also just draw water from the single tank that is linked to the shower point right? The other 2 tanks will remain "inactive" and that is a concern for me as highlighted in point (1) I have loads of space above my false ceiling due to mine being the top floor unit of a development with a slanted roof design. I am re-wiring the whole house as well, so I think the power load issue can be resolved by the electrical guys?
  9. I was told by my ID after tearing down of my unit's toilet/kitchen false ceiling that there are 3 storage heater tanks in my unit! One tank to each toilet and kitchen! Qns: 1) Can I and is it advisable to replace all 3 with one single large one? 2) If I expect myself to use only 1 tank daily and the other tanks occasionally, will the stale water in the unused tanks cause problems in the long run? 3) Was told that changing all to 1 is not possible due to "my unit being the old condo design". I always thought that it is simply a matter of re-running the pipings (which we are changing anyway). thanks!
  10. Hi all! Where can I find cork material wall paper or tiles to line my entertainment room? thanks!
  11. i can probably do that...but whether my CO will pass my handiwork is another issue altogether
  12. Hi! I am looking for a TV console for my entertainment room. Some of the requirements: - 1.8m to 2.0m - need to hold a 55'' LED TV, standard AV amplifier, xbox360, PS3, Starhub HDhubstation +/- bluray player - IR remote signal are not blocked - good access for thick/stiff cables at the rear of console thanks!
  13. Thanks! but having bought stuff from them before....i wouldn't be surprised there are cheaper equivalent options somewhere else
  14. Anyone seen this in Singapore or where can i buy it online? Thanks!
  15. if you want a concealed cistern and have a drainage on the floor, the only solution is to have a back-to-wall type of toilet bowl paired with the concealed cistern.
  16. erm....even instant heat that goes "pop" you will not have hot water....right?
  17. I got the correct term for the toilet bowl now...it's "back-to-wall" type of toilet bowl.... and the water cistern is concealed in the wall behind it.
  18. I'm looking for industrial looking pendant lights for my dining area...been looking high and low and cannot seem to find them. Wonder if any of u managed to come across these types of lights during your reno shopping? Thanks!
  19. Hi all! Anyone can recommend stainless-steel type electrical switches for my renovation? I don't want metallic-looking plastic ones. Brands and shops where i can find them will be appreciated. Thanks!
  20. I am intending to do a wall mounted toilet cistern but will be using a floor standing toilet bowl like the one pictured above. The reason why I am not using a full wall mounted toilet bowl is so that I do not need to shift the toilet drainage hole. I am probably going to use Geberit for the cistern but I cannot seem to find a range of floor standing toilet bowl without cistern to choose from... Anyone have any recommendation on the brands and shops to go to for this? Thanks!
  21. I do agree with you not compromising on quality. But as you said, PV1 is pretty good quality stuff albeit at premium pricing. So, strictly speaking, I am not compromising on sound quality....just paying more to make my wife happier and make my life easier *anyway, i got the MT30 at a few small hundreds off the RRP...so more incentive for me to go for it* We saw the velodyne at KEC....sadly my wife was not impressed with the aesthetic as it still conforms to the standard subwoofer squarish, black box. I know you meant well with your advice and I really understand where you are coming from..but sometimes marriage life is easier with couples giving and taking along the way
