  1. hehe. i got most of the same ikea stuff i love ikeaaa! oh. but the stainlesssteel pedal bin is retired forever into our storeroom. couldnt close properly and hard to open.. so we gave up on it after a few weeks of trying and bought a new bin from howard's storage in parkway.
  2. hey apple freak! thanks for your help!! what you say is quite comforting maybe i will get a cat.. ohh oh.... 3 more qns... sorrie! is a cat is generally more independent than a dog? we decided against dogs coz we will be out most of the time. couldnt bare to hear the dog whine everytime we leave for work. Do u knw whether cats will try to jump out of the balcony? my balcony doesnt have a half wall.. its made of thos metal grille like thing. so i'm afraid the cat might squeeze trho.. but then again i leave on a high floor (above 10 storeys)... do u think the cat will be smart enough not to commit suicide can cats be toilet trained too?
  3. Hi Hi lin stapler and all other cat owners.. feel like getting a cat but i'm worried abt several things.. can help? firstly will the cat give out any noisy cat calls that might disturb my neighbours?... oh and will cats keep scratching all the furniture and spoil the carpentry, chair legs.. fabric sofa? do they also shed alot of fur like dogs? heee sorry for asking so many qn.. but really feel like getting one.
  4. Hi all. heres something i did over the weekend.. designed and cut out paper to place it under my coffee table glass. its just a simple, easy to do and cheap way of redecorating the boring old table of mine more photos in my blog http://oh-so-nice.blogspot.com/
  5. hi lifestyle! interesting website u have there! lots of nice photos! do u carry ur cammie with u everywhere u go?
  6. mine's a gas heater. It was free, given by city gas. but its placed in the service balcony, so the bathroom looks nicer. its ok so far.. the only prob i have is it takes a while for water to be heated up... coz it will swtich on automatically only when u turn the tap on warm. so the initial water is cold until it gets warmed up. i used to have instant heater at my mum's place, the water really gets heated up quite fast, but its not so nice coz the instant heater has to be placed in the bathroom. and after using 3-4 years, the instant heater not so sensitive anymore. have to turn on full heat to have just luke warm water. my mum-in-law's place uses storage heater.. the warm water is instant too as the heater can be on b4 u use it.
  7. all the best for ur reno!!! post lots and lots of pictures!! yay today is fri. cant wait for the weekend
  8. gasp.. i love the clean sleek look in ur kitchen!! the stainless steel splashback v nice is that ex?
  9. hmm then maybe i'll just try 1 first. yay 545.. about time to knock off fr work...
  10. wah! u mean the framemaker frames it for u or u make the frame urself? those wooden frame with the canvas wrapped around them seems easier to make.. but havent really tried yet. i have loose canvas sheets that i bought for my painting.. thinking of getting my hubby to make the wooden frame bhind so that i can wrap & staple the canvas onto it. wow applefreak , what will u be doing for ur house? post pics when its done!
  11. eeks! ate up little holes?? are u sure those ants are not termites? oh i know my curtains are dusty coz i can literally SEE the dust! eww. its clumpy and grey and sits on the curtain folds.. its like those dust u see betw ur wardrobe and the wall if u push the old wardrobe aside after many yrs. i oso dunno why so dusty leh. maybe its coz my neighbors are all renovating.. wow upgrade potential is good.. well anyway since they havent announce, then u can at least enjoy it for a year or so. coz they take 1 yr or 2 (after announce) b4 the actual reno starts. my mum;s house was soo messy during upgrading, its not only the toilet that gets messed up.. the dust flies everywhere during hacking and gets settled onto ur furniture, walls etc.. so need to cover up.
  12. wah.. 100+ is it with or without framing?
  13. my house also full of dust! clumps of dust get stuck onto my curtains. and i've only been staying here for 4 months i just changed my curtain to a temporary cheapo one i bought from ikea. now having a headache how to wash the dusty curtains. eeks. but i like curtains.. provides a soft look to the house.. wah ur house like got alot of curtains leh.. nice! ooo ur box up is directly behind ur heater/shower isit? one whole length from floor to ceiling? then probably water from the floor seep in when u are bathing. u feel the bottom whether its damp lor. but actually is there any access panel for repairs or anything? coz nex time if the pipe bhind the box up leak, u may have difficulty repairing it. hmm maybe u can cover up the hole with wire mesh so that birds cant go in but at the same time air can go in to dry the box up..

    Drill Wall

hi topspin! hehe i do the vacuum cleaner thing too! really helpful in reducing dust!! but real noisy. vacuum cleaner + drill on at the same time.. can go deaf:P i had to stuff tissue into my ears to tone down the noise.
  15. ??? what has kopi and wanton mee gotta do with this? i love char kway teow!
  16. ha. if u are cash rich and can afford to wait, then buy now. afterall, land is limited in sg and the only way prices can go in the long term for property is up.. but if u are poor like me.. then better not lor. coz i think its too risky liao. its definately a bubble. the reason for the mad increase in property prices is driven by those foreigners all coming in to invest.... with all those IR hype and all, its a good time to invest for them. thats y the prices for upmarket & grade a property have increased so much so fast.. coz they are fuelled by foreign funds.. Majority of singaporeans can only afford less upmarket areas, thats y prices in most of the other properties have not increased so fast. But u never know when all these foreign funds pull out.. or when sars or something else hits.. when investor sentiments dampen suddenly, then liao already la. must sit and wait for the next cycle to come. so unless u can afford to sit and wait, then don invest in property la. Real property need so much money, bank borrowing interest so high. if u think property can go up but dun wanna spend so much to buy a property, then try reits lor. use own money, not borrow from bank. kaka. but then thats just my approach. i'm not a risk taker lor. thats why so poor. sob sob.
  17. eeeee.. i hate insects!! last time when i was young in my mum's home, i follow all the ants to find their nest and spray baygon right inside. kakaka. oh. and.. and i squash every spiders i see with newspapers. yucky 8 legged creatures! oh and the flies in ur bathroom are coz of the moist problem.. i had that problem in my mum's toilet ceiling too. hmm how come the box up is connected to ur vanity cabinet? cant really picture it.. u can feel for moisture on ur box up /cabinets.. see if the wood is damp.. anyway i think for immediate solution, spray the baygon into the boxup first. kill all of them! kakak. oh. water flow into the kitchen!? har.. build a kerb! mopping the floor oso not a long term solution..
  18. Hi sumo, cheer up! dont let this dispair u! as for the furniture delivery, how can they charge u for storage!!! already earn so much from u still charge u the extra!! I think , instead of letting the furniture company charge u for storage, why dont u clear out 1 room in ur home (1 that is acceptable and can be handed over... ), and store all ur furniture there first. lock up the room so that contractors cant go in. when the house is ready for handover, then just ask them to help u move it out to the living, kitchen etc..
  19. Hi koikoi.. hehe where theres a wall theres a place for u to draw.. or u can try a small corner of your house first to convince your hubby The green cloth.. i think its either chinatown or joo chiat.. its been some time since i bought it.. and i bought sooooooo many cloth. u can try chinatown (the place above the food centre) or joo chiat complex (...not sure if they still sell it?) handstitch? gosh that will take ages... i machine sew.. not v difficult to use machine, learnt it last time in home econs.. so decided to buy one when we bought our house. have been using it for sewing cushions/table cloth/curtains.. even sewn a pair of boxer shorts for my hubby I'm just using the normal straight stitch.. havent advanced to more fanciful stuff yet but will try when i have the time. or u pay me i sew for u! heee just joking. no time no time no time! sigh so busy at work lately..
  20. is your sbifold or sliding? Bifold door should have a track on the bottom.. but most of the time the track is embeded and flush with the floor. For sliding door u can opt for top hung..but there is a small protruding thingy at the bottom to direct the door when sliding... hmm dunno how to describe leh. but the protruding thingy shouldnt be a problem coz its bhind the fixed panel..
  21. wah jessi your perspectives look real nice:) so jealous of ur wiw...
  22. hey weishun.. hehe hearing u say this reminds me of the excitement and anticipation me and hubby felt when renovating our house cant wait to see your completed home. do post lots of pictures!!!
  23. Hi Sumo! yea i think u shd pop by to maintain good neighbourly relations. but don be surprised if she complain and complain coz alot of singaporeans are like dat. Seen plenty of unfriendly neighbours when i was living in my parents place. just entertain them abit lor. My parents' place had the same problem when my neighbour upstairs finished renovating the flat and was doing acid wash and cleaning. Their contractor did the same thing.. helped us paint our ceiling. For your case i think maybe u wanna check where the water is coming from and what caused it? just make sure its not due to leaky pipe and the kitchen and toilets are properly waterproofed:)
  24. dont worry about the tiled floor. i'm sure it will be money well spent. Anyway the hacking and all that redo costs are borne by your contractor right? think of the benefits of tiling! easier to clean and maintain.. no crack lines...blah blah.. yes i agree too! we chose extra photos so ended up paying more. in the end the album was only shown durin housewarming and thats it. well anyway maybe when we are old we can flip thru the album and relive the memories:) but for now its kept in the storeroom already. hehe
  25. dont be sad.. .. hmm. maybe this can chear u up? 40% disc on fares to bangkok! by tigerairways.. http://www.tigerairways.com/home/ not the best disc they've given so far tho..
