  1. Hi, Calling all experts, appreciate your inputs. We have completed our reno recently and in during the cleaning process, we found marble natural holes not sealed by the tiler. The marble natural lines is clearly visable when lights shine in. Is this acceptable? We have mop and mop the floor but when stepping with bare feet, it always feel a like a layer of dust is sitting on the tiles. There is not much of a smooth and glossy finish. What are we to expect for a newly completed marble flooring. Thank you.
  2. Hi All, Just to clarify, I'm just giving an encountered with Tiler Seng in this forum. In fact, I've been reading this forum for a while before joinning in as I need to get the contact of Tiler Seng. My main purpose of posting is to share my limited knowledge/experience/encounter/feedback, of what I've learnt/encountered. I'm thankful that Tiler Seng is upfront on his busy schedule - which allows me to seek other IDs/contractor for the job. Taken positively, I beleive he could improve on the customer service issue and provide better service to his prospective customers. I've found my ID after reading up in this forum. Not only that, air con /electrican/fenshui and a couple of others lobang which I'm currently using are sourced from here too. As i've gained getting good info here, now I'm merely contributing back. I believe each of us is busy with our work, personal and family life and definitely in our choice of activities too. Rest assured that my selected ID/contractors are busy too. Thanks to all that show concerns.
  3. Customer service is important too. Tiler Seng never reply to my email for a quote until i send a reminder to him 2weeks later. Thereafter he cited BUSY and will revert back. I waited for another 2 weeks for his reply, where i was informed to liaise with his recommended friend for a quote. All in, just trying to get his reply takes 1 month. By then, I'm into a 2nd revised quote with couple of IDs. IMO, if a contractor/ID has too many project on hand, their attention on a particular project will be divided. Promptness to an issue is important too as it reflects how he/she will follow up with you once the reno kicks in. I was put off by his "BUSY" schedule but yet busy posting pics of his completed projects in this forum.
  4. Hi Everyone, Any recommendation for an island hood? TIA
  5. The ppty is appx 18yrs old. Managed to arrange appointment with 1 pestbuster over last weekend. The trail was dry up since, after the electrican disrupt it. Due to the hacking work done, the petbuster could not detect any trail or present of the termites. Accordingly to him, likely the termites will pay my neighbours a visit. He was at the site for an hour+, explaining to us details of termites, care that we need to pay attention to etc. He recommended no actions on our side as yet, but we are to monitor the situation closely after we move in and to contact him if required. After spending his time with us, he did not even charge us for his trip made. Nice chap we've met.
  6. It's a landed. We found the trail at our main gate wall (entrance to our house, into the car porch). My fear is the possibility of a bigger colony somewhere nearby or even at our neighbouring units. Will be getting the pest control companies in for their assessment. So far, hacking work is completed at ground floor - living/dinning/kitchen/backyard/car porch. Nothing discovered. We are keeping the existing parquet from staircase upwards. Hopefully, it's just a small scale of these creepy crawlies. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  7. Thanks guys, guess we've to call in the PEST BUSTERS. Don't wish to wake up on couple of months to find these creepy crawlies in my house.
  8. In the mid of reno now. Today the electrician was on site giving us a quote and we found a trail of white ants.....THis wall is located outside our main unit, next to the main gate and the powerbox is sitting there. The electrician says it's OK just to leave the white ants cos they will not crawl out from there cos they do not like to be exposed to the light - thus they stay inside the powerbox. Questions: will these creepy crawlies extend their territory and decide to venture further into my house? Electrician said that once we allow lights in (exposed the area) the termites will die off. Do we need to call in the pest control experts? TIA
  9. Feedback on Onedesignconcept Chance upon them during my visit to the exhibition at Singapore Expo. Gave them my floor plan and waited 2 weeks for the quote. At our first appointment, we left after a mere 15mins discussion. The guy (ID?) who serve us was inexperienced. The discussion started off at our living room. He told us where to place our sofa and proposed to have a feature wall/ TV console. He then wanted to proceed to the dinning area and kitchen area. There was no mention of what this feature wall/TV console will look like nor any pics for us to visualise. We stopped him and requested for it. Next, he brought some photos and said we could pick the design from here and there. Based on the our floor plan (purchased from BCA), he made several assumptions - such as, assume no windows at a living room wall??? a wall partition between living room and dinning area. When questioned, he citied that the floor plan was not clear. i was unhappy and told him upfront that, prior to my appointment, I've met up with 2 other IDs, who has the same floor plan as him. None made the assumption he has. The lady that was assisting him during the discussion is not of much help too. in the end, not wanting to waste our time, I cut the discussion short and left the place after 15 mins.
