  1. congrats ymjp... looks fantastic.
  2. @Ely1: That store really has a lot of cool stuff... the only reason I don't go there more often is cuz they're allll the way at bukit batok... @footprint: thanks! any cushion places to recommend?
  3. hello yuene! what time is the party on 14 may? I think i can only make it after 4pm.
  4. wow. Haven't been here for a while... Renotalk sure has changed! I quite like this updated look... Hope everyone is feeling happy and rejuvenated after this long weekend! How I wished I had another day... This weekend was pretty much spent unboxing and tidying up stuff... I've moved for almost a month and many things still have not found the right places to be... guess this is gonna take a while to get everything nice and neat. Let's look at some pictures now shall we? Pardon the mess! boxes! living room sofa area grande papilio. I need to find a nicer cushion for this!
  5. @Neo: I like that Karlsson clock! Where did u get it?
  6. LOL. Poo. That's hilarious. Ah your place is reallly gorgeous. I hope you're loving it. Btw, which one is the armchair u got from Like That One?
  7. That's really pretty! Where did u get the letters from?
  8. Hi marshmallow! Yeah there's a reason why allll the showrooms put the dryer on top and not the washing machine! We've strapped down the WM to the table so that it wouldn't vibrate off the table.... but it's still scary to use. Need another solution for that!
  9. Hey may dream... did u get a chance to try the Getha mattresses yet?
  10. Oh hello that washing machine looks familiar. I have a similar one with a small LCD screen which displays the remaining time of the load. I think it's a great machine! My clothes come up less crumpled than my previous top load (which is 20 yrs old btw). Sorry to hear about the trouble you went through with the tap adaptors... if only I had paid attention to your blog earlier I would have saved you a lot of trouble cuz I could have told you to get exactly what you needed. However, everything else seems to be going smoothly! When are you intending to move in?
  11. I agree that halogen is very hot. The trick is to put halogen in places where people won't be lingering for a long time Like in front on the tv console. Corridors. Display areas. The area with the sofa I suggest LEDs cuz they kinda sorta look like halogen and emit negligible heat. Still not as nice as halogen though cuz the ones we get in Singapore use small led modules with cheap and stupid lenses. If you can afford it get the LED ceiling lights from Occhio. They're so beautiful. And really nice light quality.
  12. We've finally moved in! Well it's been about a week. There have been even more issues with leaks in the bathrooms but it's all resolved now. Some of the furniture is not in yet... like 2 beds from Sanctuary Dian. Lamps. Balcony stuff. Some chairs. It's not showflat condition yet! I think the Getha mattresses are the best buy of the reno. We have 3 in the house. They are extremely comfortable to sleep on... much better than my old mattress. Highly recommended!! Fyi, the dishwasher is awesome. However, it does take 1.5 hours to do what I can normally do in about 20mins. haha. But I hate dishwashing so it's awesome. And for people who are thinking of doing what I did and putting the washing machine on a table, DO NOT DO THAT. Yet. When the machine is spin drying the clothes the whole table will vibrate like crazy. We're thinking of getting reinforcements for the table... like a cross brace or something. Right now it's a little scary. We also have mio tv now and they have cantonese drama on demand! omg how come I never knew about that. It's freakin awesome. Will put pictures up once the flat is in a showable condition!
  13. Hi Ely! You're making good progress on the reno I'm looking at the lighting points and I have some comments... I think you have way too many downlights in the living and dining rooms. Like, way too many, I personally think you need about 6 in the living and 4 in the dining... less lights but get the 26W ones. Makes the ceiling less cluttered... but maybe you like things super bright. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's possible to dim PLC lights? If you want a cosy feel you should definitely replace the PLC with halogen, just because the light effect is 2000000 times better (but that's my personal preference). Plus halogen is dimmable. Also, the light in the toilet. I think the point should be above the sink rather than above the toilet bowl... makes more sense that way. Hope everything will go smoothly for u.
  14. isn't concrete kinda heavy? you may want to check the weight load of your floor before going through with it... may not be feasible. or you can just get some concrete wallpaper instead?
  15. if you're getting from Mr Wong it doesn't cost much less w/o the cells. anyway, don't think so much, just do!
  16. Okay then 14th May it is, (so long away). what do people like to eat? @ne0mesis: are you referring to the 白果糖水?
  17. ne0 don't take offense please... I think most local reno contractors don't use very good materials... And I am a blunt person. a deep fryer is a waste of time, money and the earth's natural resources. Use a pot or wok.
  18. hello csingeu. 9 pages and your reno finally starts. I hope you have a smooth journey. If your contractor ever needs a bollocking, I'd be happy to help. all the best!
  19. yuene your place looks awesome. So many gorgeous things in one apartment, you must have spent a lot of time and effort making it nice. I love the clock... would love to get something similar if you can point me to the right direction Anyway, I'm gonna be thick skinned and invite myself to your upcoming housewarming. I can help make food if you want. Just let me know.
  20. ne0, my specialty is deep frying. lol. Too bad about the white kitchen top staining... but yeah crappy materials do help to cultivate good housekeeping habits hope you're enjoying your awesome place!
  21. Btw: If anyone is into retro vintage 2nd hand furniture, I highly recommend going to Like that One to take a look! http://www.likethatone.com/
  22. there are so many grades for solid surface... the cheap ones will stain easily and you will spend so much time trying to keep it clean. esp if you're gonna use white. if you're gonna get the exp one, don't be shy and ask your contractor to guarantee no stain. If he cannot guarantee then better choose another material.
  23. ne0 your kitchen is gorgeous. (rest of the house is gorgeous too, but the kitchen is <3) Can I invite myself to cook there.
  24. @khimwoon: thanks for helping me answer some questions! anyway have you heard of Sanctuary Dian at 12A Jalan Ampas? If you have a particular bed design in mind you can ask them to custom make it for you. Their prices are not exorbitant and the owners are realllly nice people. @May_dream1: The mattress is by Getha. Their showroom is at Furniture Mall (Beach Rd) level 1. @lazybum9: the table is from XZQT and 1.6m but can go up to 2.4m when extended. I think there are only 2 choices for the glass - clear and smoke. @ne0mesis: Hello there! Hoped you had a great wedding and what nots Thank you for the compliments... XZQT is a really good furniture store. I asked them to delay the delivery of the table at least 3 times, and everytime they said okay. The Pandan store is their warehouse/clearance spot so the things there are usually cheaper. Seems like everyone loves the balcony... glad I did something right there About the pebbles. Do you have water in the vase with the pebbles? I think the moisture is causing algae to grow on it. Mine's so far so good. The box on the RHS contains my whole family's music collection. We're gonna digitise it and put it on a NAS though... Yeah most of my music I listen in digital form but I still like to buy CDs/vinyls. Dunno why. *** a little rant. Can you believe there's no Fibre internet at my building. They just built the d-a-mn thing for goodness sakes. Was it so hard to wire the fibre into the framework during the construction. &$^*$@*#&$#*$ ChinaConstructionCompany (i think that is the actual name of the chinese construction company that build the condo).
