I just bought a resale unit and noticed that the silicone around the kitchen and bathroom windows was unevenly applied and looked ugly ( its transulcent silicone and it had turned black and mouldy ) . I dont know if its the same reason ( leak ) that the previous owner DIY himself. Anyway, my contractor helped me to remove the old silicon and applied white hard substance ( dont know what's that ) and the windows now look great!
  5. I was also considering to buy from Ikea, think the designn i like cost about $2300 .... in the end, i decided to get a carpenter to custom made so that i can choose the laminate... I find the quality from Vhive and Courts is not as good as the one i like from Ikea.
  6. Hi all, Anyone knows of any reasonable and good contractor for windows repair? One of my windows' hinge cracked or broke. My windows are full height and the upper windows are those with long hinges at both sides... I tried calling one contractor and was quoted $220 just to replace the hinge... is this reasonable? Thanks.

  11. thanks bakchang! hmm... am painting the house so will ask if the painter will help foc... i remember my painter mentioned that they will touch up holes made by the wall hangers for paintings and other very small fixtures...not sure about the swictches area ... sigh... dont understand how the ex-owner can allow such sloppish and ugly works...
  12. hi all, sorry to side track... just to get some advice too... my resale unit has got very ugly switches and the plastering around the switches is very poorly done... what can i do? I intend to change all the switches but does electrician help to to 'beautify' the sides of the switches by re-plastering nicely? or the painter can do it? Thank you.

  14. i just bought lights for my new unit from Balestier. But i have very few downlights so may not have the bargaining power. Mine are all round ones but they do sell square ones too. For your reference, I paid: - 13W x 2, Atco with osrams, $26 - 18W x 2, Atco with osrams, $30 - 13W x 1, normal , $17 Bought other hanging pendants and ceilings lights too... Installation at $8 per light and one-time transportation at $25... HOPE IT HELPS....

  16. hmm... mine was very hassle-free, my DBS banker and my lawyer met up with me and on the day i exercised the option, i had two checks, one for the remaining 4% and the other for stamp duty... and i signed a few forms for withdrawing remaining 15% ( can be cash or cpf) for cpf etc. The next notice i received from my lawyer was for collection of keys

  18. Hi, i just bought a resale condo. paid 1%, obtained OTP, paid remaining 4% (CASH) and 15% ( cpf) to exercise optain. you have to get ready stamp duty (cash) too. Bank loan 80% cos interest rate is low now...

Hello, I am thinking of doing that too...i just bought a 946sft condo and there are two air-con in the living room, 1 for the dinning and 1 at the living.... its a relatively small area and i am thinking of just changing to one aircon, but my condo mgt didnt allow us to do that! MUST be two new air-cons replacement at tthe same area!!!! arrgh....
