Today is hacking day! =) Last Sat: 1. confirmed tiles from LSH and another shop in Balestier 2. confirmed solid kitchen tabletop 3. confirmed window grilles Yesterday: 1. Bought toilet bowls, sinks, kitchen sinks, taps, etc etc all from Scarlet Ace @ Sembawang. Great service and value price! 2. Eyed light chandeliers, wall light from Scarlet Ace. Pending to buy when house is almost up.

After reading some staining tiles that are on anti-stain, how do you check the tiles based on the samples u received? I have one that has circle marks (due to stacking of tiles), and i cant get it off. Should I check for waterproofing etc too?

mine has tiles behind fridge =) cos we have a smaller fridge for now. but the space is allocated for a bigger one in future

We wanted a divider solid wall and Alan said changed to glass sliding as we have no corridor windows, hence the solid wall will block off the sunlight. things like this.. hehe.. Finally! After getting quotations from contractors introduced by friends, and a couple IDs, we have decided to engage Alan (thanks neubie!) as THE GUY for our home. Our budget was burst out by $7K, but i would say, his quotation is definitely value for money. Besides the pricing, we chose him as he is very responsive, non-pushy, and value-adds. Hubby has ideas on what he wants on the house, and Alan tweaks the design, gave inputs, just to make it more practical. Unlike many designers, where beauty is the main key, Alan goes for practicality. In fact, he advises us not to do quite a bit of carpentry, as he knows our budget is very tight. He suggested buying from stores, as they will be cheaper. I like the way he advises us, and the way he revised our quotation at 1am, when we left him at 1030pm. So far, we are blessed

shucks.. sounds like a bad case, and a similiar one like mine. For us, not that bad cos we have our parents place to stay in. Ask lawyer contacts from ur agent cos they usually have some to come in handy. That said, we din pursue further cos, it was lengthy process, and i really hate to talk to the seller by that time. Even if u give me the house, i also feel that it is quite unlucky with all the quarrels. But by what i researched, the seller has to pay u ur additional cost meaning if u get their place at 400K then found a similiar place for 450K, they have to pay u 50K. ALso, if he goes out to rent, they have to pay his rental. All the best

What I eventually did: COV: 23K ( 5K during OTP, 18K during first appt) Agent Fee: 1% paid during first appt though most of the pple will advise 2nd appt. Our agent had always been very kind and helpful, hence, we dont mind giving him @ first appt. Even after 2nd appt, he is still very helpful!

looks like i need to study more on the kitchen top. thanks for the info! We are thinking of partitioning our balcong/livingroom/diningroom to have a TV room. this partitioning was proposed having glass wall (glass so that the sunlight can come in). was quoted >3K on this glass wall + door. anyone done that before? Instead of glass wall, we are exploring sliding glass door instead. but cant seem to get a proper quote on this.

Oooh ... For kitchen tops, he provide plywood, but i read that granite is better. How much is it right now for granite? For the tiles, he gave a fixed amount, but how do i know how big he catered for?

All my life i lived with storage heater, but my in-law been telling me to get instant cos of cost, and if storage heater goes 'pop!', u have no more hot water.
