  1. Have been a supporter of Toshiba Inverter System. My two places and my in laws place have been using it, one more than ten years and still serving us well. No fierce advert, no frills but definitely reliable. Heard they are the first guys that invented the AC inverter system. However, my fil, who is a very handy man says that Mit Electric has this easy clean system (don't know if this is the correct term used), which is really good, and is really designed and useful for people that does regular cleaning themselves.

    Big Vases

Didn't want to appear low standard... But I thought I have seen big vases in... Pasar Malam?!
  3. Whoever it is, choose a good one. It will save you a lot of headache later
  4. Hi Anyone knows where to buy nice piggybanks but not necessarily be in the form of a pig? Got instructed by the FS Master to do this... Thanks!
  5. Congrats! Your COV looks reasonable? I think due to the recent government cooling measures, sellers have mellow down
  6. Thanks. Have also bought it and waiting for delivery.
  7. I do not think so roughening of walls needs permit. You can check out the hdb website: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/...ng?OpenDocument Or best check with your Reno contractor, he should know best.
  8. The top one that goes into the frame is spoilt. I have relaid the marble flooring, so do not want to drill a hole at the bottom and install a dust proof socket.
  9. Hi Intending to get a Thomson top load washer dryer. Can anyone who own one advise me if it is good? Thanks!
  10. Ya, no choice, if we want it cheap, this is the standard that we will get. The majority of the contractors in the renovation industry is just not there yet.
  11. Sometimes, it is also the expertise. The main contractor would sub-contract the works to a sub contractor who do not know how to do it well. Especially renovation contractors, to make the margin, they go for people that give them cheap rates, but may not necessary know the work. So even if you get the best materials, without the correct people, you are simply wasting your money.
  12. Hmmm... No response... Guess these days, everybody put money in the bank
  13. My gate is still in good condition, except the broken flush bolt. Guess gotta improvise a solution...
  14. The wall needs to be roughen or splatter so that there is grip for the adhesive and the tile. There are a lot of brands in the market, don't really know what is a good brand. It is workmanship also.
  15. Hi Considering to buy a Sentry Safe digital fireproof security safe. Anyone has bought this? Is it good and easy to use? Does the batteries run out easily? Am quite confused on which is a good one cos there are so many brands and all the sales people tell me different different opinions....
  16. By right, after the aluminium contractor install the windows, they have to grout the frame with non-shrink grout. We call it caulking. But contractors are after all contractors, sometimes they did not fully grout the frame or did not use non shrink grout to do it. This results in water seeping through these frame next to the wall. To check if they have grout it, knock on the frame to hear if there is the hollow sound. To rectify this, contractor can drill a hole through the alu frame and pump grout in.
  17. Chanced upon this post. Anyone has a solution? I have the same problem...
  18. For tile flooring, can also check if there are any chips at the edges. Also check if there are lipping i.e. between tiles, are they laid evenly. If u need to ask them to hack and change, bear in mind that there may be a tile tonality issue due to different batches.
  19. When the tiler install the tiles, they did not butter the whole tile with cement or adhesive. Or it could be that the tile has debond from the wall. In no time, the tile will pop out.

    Sofa-beds?

I have reservation on cheap furniture from Ikea, they don't last. Last time when I tried to get rid of some old furniture, Salvation Army told me that if it is Ikea furniture, they would not take due to bad quality. Though I tend to disagree to a certain extent, those that cost more are quite okay. But their cheap range really cannot make it. But if you know that you would not use it for long, then it's okay.
  21. Contractor can submit for you. Anyways, he will be doing the work.
