  1. Not yet touch up.. but i will get the painter to do it.. Hmm... i guess.. i can only use duster from now on?..
  2. heya .. check with u.. is ur wall painted black? matt black? OR? i have some areas in my house painted matt black.. but the colour runs when i was cleaning it with clean water... ID told me matt black is like that one.. but im not sure if he's smoking me or the truth.. shdnt the colour stay? how do i maintain it if it runs with just water? and gentle rubbing? anyone else aware?? sigh..
  3. Hi! looking at ur pic references.. its the same pictures that me and my hubby found online~.. think we are looking at pretty much similar stuff!.. good taste! I did the brick wall.. and it looks really good... loads of my frens who saw my pics (coz my house not ready).. all says the brick wall adds character and is really nice.. u shd go for it too! u mention ur kitchen free wall is screed and other walls filled with cabinets... sounds like my kitchen!... great minds think alike.. haha.. here's my reno-t-blog!... cant wait to see the progress of ur house!
  4. Ok.. not too sure if this is relevant.. but do take note of t-joint and skirting options as well.. when you pick ur laminate flooring colour... I got my laminates from Evorich.. Parador... got a dark greyish laminate flooring and only upon installation, i realise that they do not have matching skirting and T-joints. Now i have a ugly brown T-joint and skirting which totally doesnt match and is hideous... Called up my ID and kicked up a fuss... now they are trying to help me find solutions.. make sure the brand you pick.. has the matching skirting and t-joints.. if u pick shades of brown.. usu shd be safe though.. Also, check on the underlay.. make sure its not those thin foam that they use to wrap furniture.. check is not enough.. make sure they write it down in black and white for u..
  5. wow... kk!.. im going down then! do u know if they have lights as well?.. i always liked their lightings! things on my list for now.. rice cooker.. vacuum... blender... iron... all the small appliances basically!... my first home.. ha..
  6. wow.. thanks for sharing! anyone been to the previous ones?.. are the discounts good... worth making a trip down?!? just in time!... my house will be ready soon.... time to grab some appliances!
  7. hihi.. where did u get ur ice cube light from?... my hubby wanted something like that.. but we haven seen when we went lights shopping..
  8. ur qoute does look ex compared to mine... per point?... the price i listed is per point.. also.. i guess coz im not concealing anything... mine is just normal electrical work... cant comment on workmanship yet.. coz im not around to monitor.. will feedback after... so far.. what i heard from my hubby is that he is pretty friendly and helpful and is quite responsive.. but we shall see.. my housing agent and ID started off great and i thought i will refer them to the whole world.. but they all ended up being pple who don't earn an honest living!
  9. I met with a really bad agent... he cheated and lied to me... when i complain to ERA compliance.. they said they dont really care whether the agent lied or wat.. its not about right or wrong.. they just wanted to discuss how much commission im going to pay.. complain to IEA... MND... CEA..IRAS everyone play taichi.... Complain CEA.. they say not in operation.. they say call IRAS.. call IRAS.. they say agent is with ERA, ERA is accredited... they say call IEA... IEA say.. agent himself not accredited.. nothing they can do.. sought help from CASE.. officer was nice... but nothing much she could help with.. so... pay $ to learn a lesson.. hopefully ur agent is accredited.. then perhaps.. ur complaint might work... as for ur 1%.. i think high chance have to pay... i had proof of his lying.. (about the deal.. the COV.. etc).. no matter how i argued... ERA only gave me a small discount or else will take me to small claims.. CASE officer advised me.. go small claims.. got proof... oso wont really look at it.. whether he lied or cheated... no one cares... if he really did help u do paperwork.. find house... u signed the commission agreement.. u r bound to it.. regardless of his ethics.. will still have to pay.. in the end.. small claims is too troublesome.. have to take time off... go to small claims court... present case... so i settled... if he is accredited.. at least a complaint gets him demerit points or black list or something... if he is not... like mine.. too bad...
  10. For appliances, I shortlisted all the big items i wanted.. approach at least 3-4 places (Hong liang @ alexandra, Harvey Norman, Best Denki, Everjoint @ AMK, audio house). Get the cheapest qoute for each item and go to one store and ask them to match.. Big stores like harvey, best, audio house, if you purchase like quite a few items, its possible to get prices lower than what is listed on their tags.. u must ask the right person.. the higher rank the sales staff, the more discounts they are able to give (thats what i heard).. point to note though.. diff places mark up diff stuff.. so look at the overall deal i guess.. and seriously.. sometimes the savings is not very significant.. so i dont make any extra effort to go down and ask for prices.. waste time and transport $... will just enter the stores everytime i happen to be near one.. and pass them my list and say.. "here's my list.. whats the best u can do for me".. take the list home.. and compare ha.. for convenience... i got most of my stuff from Harvey coz they manage to match my prices... and can pay by interest free installment... and i dont really want to liase with 3-4 places for delivery.. so in the end, i got some from harvey, and some from hong liang.. if u r hardworking, know ur prices... shd be able to get a good deal.. i think a saved a couple of hundreds by pushing down the prices compared to buying @ expo sale.. *note.. hong liang was not bad.. comparative.. i chose harvey coz i wanted installment, after then i realise, hong liang provides installment too.. but u must know ur prices to fight a good deal.. hope this helps..

  13. ha... i must learn to be more tough!... yeah... actually.. i also dun get why must pay management fee.. i already have the electrical layout... so i might as well just co-ordinate myself with the electrician... manage to find another electrician who gave me a qoute.. its like 50% less than my ID's (PLUS switches some more) ID - $4,800 Electrician - $2,600 !!!! manutd1972: will pm u!
  14. yea.. i know.. its so high!.. sucks.. thankfully for forums... can compare.. i dun mind if its a little higher.. coz he help co-ordinate.. but this is crazy.. and recently i got cheated by my housing agent too... why cant pple earn a honest living!!! oh well.. let's see how much his "management" fee is...
  15. ID says coz i use my own electrician.. he have to co-ordinate for me and stuff.. ID will charge me "management" fee to monitor for me.. and tell electrician where to run wires and points etc.. by the way.. mine is a 4 room hdb...
  16. After looking at everyone's qoutes.. even the most expensive one.. i think i hit the jackpot.. mine is way above the most expensive one i see here - lighting point $60ea - fan point $$60ea - 13A single power point $60ea - 13A double $90ea - heater point $120ea - aircon point $120ea - telephone point $60ea - tv point $150ea - tv splitter $45ea - 2 way switch $60ea - cooker and hood point $120ea x 2 - DB box $500 - Earth point $100 - Door bell point $30 - Door bell install $15 - Install light $10ea - Install fan $60ea - Labour to run speaker wires $100 now.. i went back to my ID and say its riduculous ... 50-70% more than what i see here... he say that if i use my own electrician... i have to pay a management fee... is this common/normal? and how much "management" fee is reasonable? or am i being a carrot head??? appreciate if anyone can PM me reliable and reasonable price electrician!
