it's possible that some players are not that 100% compatible when playing on cheong dvds or dvds that is not mastered to the standard specifications. commercially available pressed dvds are strictly compliant to the standards while some other dvds are quite loose and lax in the authoring/mastering, so depending on how forgiving the player is, some dvds play nicely on some players while another simply refuse to play and spit out the disc.

i tink SMRT/SBS oso won't be that stupid to keep adding new stations. for every new station to be built, there has to be strong justification to be commercially viable wrt the nearby amenities, bus interchanges, bus stops, existing MRT stations... and also the running costs.... remember last time the only NEL station which SBS don't want to open, citing "too low" passenger traffic at that station?

Some updates on the OpenNet installation. I had earlier requested them to come over my flat to do installation. As ex-owner declined installation, I got to LLST pay $220 for the installation. Today the CSO called and advised me to hold back my paid installation if possible, as the RSPs (SingTel, StarHub) are going to launch their broadband services over OpenNet (appears like the RSPs have a commercial obligation to roll out in the 2nd half of 2010 onwards) and would give some good promotions on installation charges for those signing up (on contractual basis). Was glad he was quite upfront with this, as he does not wish paying customers to feel ripped-off when RSPs are launching their services with discounted installation deals. Typical installation of the fibre termination box would be near to the SCV TV point. He mentioned something about OpenNet unable to support HDTV content, so high chance of falling back to SCV for that.

great advise!!! i think TS should post some pics of the existing condition of his new flat and gather some comments on what needs to be done and what can be saved up for an unforgettable honeymoon. yes, those floorings and wall tiles, give it a good acid bath/wash to clear away all those stubborn stains, and they shd smell like new.

it all depends on how extensive the works are to be done. this again very much depends on what is needed to be done first. i think, working backwards, ur reno shd start latest by mid-september, as you wouldn't want to rush ur contractor too much (quality *might* be compromised)... like ossify mentioned, it's better to give more time to reno, as the contractor u signed with may be busy with other projects....factoring this into consideration, so i think it's best to start hunting for ID/con now... invite contractors to your place and do detailed measurements on the areas needed. this is important, as the dimensions quoted in standard floorplan given by HDB are external measurements...the more accurate the measurements, the less chance of wastage and unwanted additional costs.

HDB gives one month reno period. but can be extended if required.
