  1. Worktop done!!! Waiting for plumber to complete the kitchen sink...
  2. Workers using the rounded corners of the StarHub prepaid card used to clean up the edges :o Loaded battery into the gas hob...
  3. Last minute the worktop guys came over to install... the entire L-shape piece was able to fit into the lift w/o the need to cut into half..... but it's real heavy, judging from the 2 workers carrying... Sink surrounding liberally applied with silicone and worktop pressed down... Sprayed some detergent solution on the areas, excess silicone cleaned up... Caulking compound applied to wall/worktop interface...
  4. there are similar but far cheaper satellite speaker systems than bose... it's similar in setup, music centre <-----cables-----> amplifier module cum subwoofer <------5 cables ------> 5 speakers so not really true that other lesser systems have more cabling to work with. i last time oso bought their lifestyle series after auditioning in their Atlas showroom, which is heavily soundproofed and accoustically tuned, paid 4k+, happily carry back, setup, and found the quality not so good as what i heard there... but still ok, but the novelty wears off... the main advantage of using small satellite speakers is its low visual impact wrt the interior furnishings, but that's where it ends there. generally, the cube speakers are not really capable of producing quality sound thru out the entire audio range. they may lack the details that's expected of a floorstanding speakers with separate speaker drivers. worse still, the subwoofer module is expected to play bass that maybe overwhelming when playing YoYoMa's pieces... strictly speaking, if listening to pure audio, 2 front speakers will be more than enuf, no need the rear/centre speakers that destroys the stereo imaging and depth of Norah Jones or Rebecca Pidgeon. my 2 cents worth...
  5. rotating one may be difficult to access, try this, skip to page 109 for magic corner baskets...slightly a bit more exp than rotating ones.
  6. if i rem correctly, you mentioned u will not retile the kitchen floor, so if u hack off the fridge base, unless your contractor/ID got exactly the same mosaic tiles to replace, you may have problems....
  7. welcome!!! finally see your blog posting OMG! is that the fridge base??? at least 4" tall huh?
  8. most hp come with camera... just snap and post lor....not that difficult...
  9. but u shd'hv taken one month advance rental payment right? if they miss one payment start doing something to protect urself liao.
  10. I-shaped layout? how does it look? started your t-blog of ur unit? nothing fanciful about the bedroom wall colors, same uniform colors as LR.... for a small flat, use same color to create a maximized space effect... different colors for different rooms gives the impression of a visually "smaller" look... The 1001 uses for WD40
  11. In this case do u wait for them to totally vacate the unit before adding chain n lock or dun care just chain up (this might be misconstrued as illegally restraining)?
  12. A tip for those who are retaining the windows/grilles... after demolition work, sure lots of dust settling around in the casement/sliding window tracks. opening/closing them will be very coarse.... before painting starts, vacuum the tracks and friction stays on the windows, get a can of WD40, spray generously on them, let WD40 work and soften the old stains/old paint and clean off with rags....
  13. most wm have anti-rust feet/chassis one, so dun really need bases anymore... i forego mine for wm and fridge...
  14. wallpaper is charged at few hundred bucks per wall panel, so count the number of wall panels that need wallpapering, that will be the amount.
  15. Yes, they can do the relocation works, rerun the point from outside. just make sure they are using good quality coaxial cables (good ones typically are quite stiff and not flexible)
  16. thanks, cos i figure out i will at most cook maggi mee and pan-fry sausages/eggs for makan, so forego the original kitchen space and make the living room as large as possible... the entire LR is approx 21.3ft subdivided into dining area and living area... the low-wall is a separator for the kitchen sink and WM, ie, the kitchen sink is back-to-back with the WM... most standard 7.5kg wm has a footprint of 2ft x 2ft (60cm x 60cm). so for my case, given a 4ft long low-wall, I have ample space (left about 2ft) for the rubbish chute and storage of laundry baskets, buckets, etc... initially I wanted another rectangular basin side-by-side with the WM, but after some sanity check, better dun, as the low-wall will need to be longer to cater for this additional sink (after factoring the rubbish chute max opening) given the low-height of the wall, i'll still be able to access the kitchen sink for a quick rinse of my soapy hands while doing laundry.... water outlet will be between the WM and rubbish chute, so able to flush the chute occasionally dun worry, spell out your requirements to ur ID/con, and he will ask his guys to do accordingly.... ;p
  17. not to worry, your electrician will have it in their toolbags....
  18. Nothing was done today, hence popped by to DIY crimp the cat5e cables to make sure all 4 LAN points are working....
  19. yup, no prizes for guessing it right!!! it's for the humble fridge the glass partition doors will be expensive... ranging from 1k9 onwards...but i had really wanted the unit to look expansive and spacious, hence opted for glass partition. Tempered glass... tried using my fingers to scrape away the logo to see if it's cheong one, in the end my fingernails were scratched instead :D
  20. nice 3D renderings... what is the estimated cost of the confirmed design as per your ID's impression? the tv console, AFAIK won't be cheap...
  21. Think the certification is provided to houseowner, with electronic records stored in their database. So in an unfortunate fire traced to electrical problems, insurance payout maybe dependent if the unit is certified or not.
  22. not yet, but most likely will buying ready-made wardrobes, beddings and sofa, while reusing dining tables.
  23. By night I returned for inspection, all kitchen cabinet works completed, internal shelves/drawers cleaned up, left with surface-top & flipdoor for dishtray, interesting to know the 3 glass doors (one fixed, 2 movable) are completed 60% Water pipes and AC trunking all boxed up and sealed with 168 sealant... I must say the carpenter is quite good and efficient.... the workplace is never too dusty or messy, leftover scraps from sawing/routing/plane-ing are immediately dumped into trashbag...
  24. Once done, carpenter radioed his solid-top guys over to make a mold, basically using small & long strips of timber and furiously stapling all over the top areas to create a mold and bring back to factory for casting...the solid guys appear to be earning big bucks on this.... :o as he was telling me they can make as much as 10 house visits to make template for solid-surface molding....
