  1. indoor fan coil unit is 1 yr, outdoor compressor is 5 yrs.
  2. what i can suggest is, make them put the money where the mouth is, get them to replicate the SAME setup, with the SAME water pressure and try it out. see if it conks out after a while....
  3. you have to READ the installation manual of the ALPHA heaters, check are they suited to run on rain showers. my guess is such instant heaters are designed such a way the water outlet connects to a showerhead with a flexible hose having a height of NOT HIGHER than the heater unit itself. NEVER TRUST BLINDLY what the shop tells you. they want to get ur biz, take your money and that's it. they can even BS such heaters can be connected to a high-pressure jet cleaner installing a rainshower means your showerhead will be WAY above the heater height. if the water pressure is not enuf to drive the heated water up to the rainshower, this creates a back-pressure (heated water flows back to the heating element tank) and the heater thinks the outlet is blocked, shutting it down prematurely. most instant heaters have built-in temperature and pressure sensors, and if that happens and trips, what do you think will happen to the heater? no instant heater maker will honor the warranty at all IF the heater is not installed as per their recommended installation. so it's a matter of goodwill if the dealer/agent will replace it for u FOC. the fact that both heaters died same time implied (1) there is something wrong with that batch of heaters or (2) the failures caused by the rainshowers.... which i tend to suspect the latter case. else, you either have to install a storage heater or change the rainshower to a normal shower head.
  4. yes, to the TS, get a life and move on, 2k3 is not a big sum of money. if that delivered teelum constantly reminds u of the bad service u got from beds.sg, i would like to to buy over from u at $23, so u can go shop for another brand and spare yourself of the agony & stop badmouthing that company.
  5. dun worry too much about the jump-gun changes in schedule, they shd know what to do. flats built in the 70s are like that, never straight. even if u plaster the walls it won't be 90 deg to the adjacent wall and ceiling la.... so dun be too anal about it. what can be done is to get them to apply silicone to fill up the gaps. even for me, after handover, i arm myself with a caulking gun and silicon, leftover paint, fill up the gaps and paint them as i come across.
  6. not sure if laminate flooring covers wear and tear due to castor rollers
  7. dun tink so. anything that has caster rollers will scratch floors, even on marble flooring.
  8. That's why a hts will nv match in SQ… a better way is to invest in a good pair of cans n headphone amp, much better soundstage and tonality, less the environmental distractions… late-night listening also won't disturb anyone haaaa
  9. how come got one water pipe sticking out of the room? i tot drainage pipes should be run indoors?
  10. fwah, high-society CD dun come cheap.....each piece cost $30 onwards... if the salesman said it's ok to locate the 2 rear spkr to the front, then i would tink it defeats the purpose of a surround system, even with the built-in DSP to recreate than virtual surround effect. if that's the case u might be not getting ur money's worth and might as well get a 2.1 ch system. i got mine recently and was very happy with it.
  11. speaker signals are high-voltage levels, less prone to AC interference compared to RCA line-level signals running parallel to power lines, i tink.
  12. but it outlasts any wooden cabinet. u can put boiling pot directly on it and no problems.... try it on corian top and see
  13. the placement of the queen size bed in the MBR will be squeezy for that person sleeping next to the wall to get in and out of bed. so may be better if the bed is placed along the length of the MBR. placement of wardrobe next to the aircon in the MBR may obstruct the airflow. can fit that square bathtub into the bathroom meh?
  14. yup, dun be penny wise and pound foolish...
  15. Just curious, why u need to do ur Reno in stages? If funds are an issue, then shd save up more, delay the Reno n not doing in phases from one to nth. Why the need to go thru so many phases n suffer dusty n noisy conditions? I believe in "do it once, do it good, and case closed once and for all. Consider your neighbors who have to put up with u lor…
  16. cannot. how to connect the pipes? run in parallel?
  17. room for room, stilll looks bigger than any newer hdb flat in sengkang and PAD ....
  18. so when is ur fridge arriving? u ask them to delay the delivery until ur reno complete?
  19. what i see is they could've cored the pipehole too high/low, or try to reuse existing hole, and mounted the pipes w/o due consideration, and out of convenience/laziness, they slightly bend the pipe a bit so can gum gum fit the hole. that's my guess. that's why i believe in making my statement upfront to the contractor/ID before signing contract, i rather act 小人rather than 君子first, make sure the contractor/ID digests/understands my requirements/to-do/standards. anything goes wrong due to his mistake i will hound him....
  20. you can use, but if it's not type-approved by Spring SG, you cannot go for PG testing (sure fail one). FYI, every type approved switch got sticker pasted on the switches.
  21. Box up of water/gas pipes is not that exp, far cheaper than using cabinets to cover up. Save a little here and there will accumulate into the thousands, whats more u uv a tight budget to begin with. I suggest u start reviewing the more exp items like wall n floor tiles. Take a measuring tape n sum up the areas that's to be tiled up, add another 10% for wastage n skirting n check if tally with the quotation. I can see some items are cheap (like glass partition), some average (painting n plastering) while others are not. So in the end the cheaper items will hopefully offset out the exp ones n have an overall savings. If u really wanna outsource some of ur works, make sure u get ur main con for schedule n insert the outsourced work accordingly, making allowance for delays, exigencies, additional costs n other unforeseen issues (like finger pointing when something goes wrong). That's gg to incur u some considerable effort. Good luck.
  22. all big ticket items is it really cheaper to buy overseas factoring in shipping and paying customs tax?
