  1. then u never go bang table at ikea and showed them their stuff messed up ur floor?
  2. yes, how loaded is the fridge and how often the fridge is opened/close has a direct impact on the consumption. ceteris paribus, the compressor kicks in and cuts out at (long) intervals so it is not running all the time.
  3. Since u r unhappy with that agent, make it known. Better still complain to his company. See if u want to play hard with him anot…
  4. If u hv not given him the commission, cut his commission after taking over the keys. Ignore all his hints of issuing check until keys taken in ur possession.
  5. A case of differing expectations meeting with differing service levels. Just move on. Home ownership shd be a happy thing after all.
  6. WC can come in 2 piece, first piece is the cistern aka water tank, and the second piece is the WC bowl. for those 1-piece design, basically the water tank is molded together with the bowl for a more nicer look. mixer tap is to mix the hot and cold water lor.... if u have storage heater, the plumber will run both hot and cold pipes in parallel and connect to the mixer, so u can adjust the desired temperature of the water.
  7. is there difference in costs of installing one-piece or two-piece WC?
  8. bought some 3mm clear acrylic sheet to cover the bottom of my wrought-iron gate. as my living room floor is just 2 inches above of the common corridor, when TC doing their scheduled washing, water will kena the gate and cause rusting easily.... Marker pen, cable ties, cordless drill and wire snips is all that is required... mark out the holes on the protective brown wax paper pasted to the sheet, drill and tear off the brown paper Half-hour later and it's done but may replace the cable ties with s/s ones for more strength... tmr go hunt for them....
  9. wa, very nice, cockroaches and lizards won't like to stay under the cabinets cos too bright liao......
  10. MIJ = Made In Japan those window-mounted aircons are designed to make use of existing sliding windows with minimum hassle of hacking/drilling/sawing.... but not sure if it's allowed, as u've pointed out, the hot air is discharged to the common corridor area where there is human traffic.
  11. LG have a bad reputation of aircons... never touch them even it's 50% cheaper than other makes. get those aircon company to check your a/c pressure and top up gas if necessary. for aircons that has been running for few years w/o topping up, maybe good to totally evacuate the refrigerant gas and refill with fresh ones. aircon coolant has a mix of refrigerant and compressor oil designed to lubricate the compressor. as time goes by the lubricant loses its functions, and this may result in compressor working noisier and harder. when my parent's house mitsubishi heavy industries (MHI) R22 compressor died after 15yrs (this is pure MIJ), i replaced with toshiba-carrier inverter ones, and it's able to reuse back the existing copper piping (originally designed for R22 system) w/o problems of leakage or reduced cooling efficiency. regardless of which brands, choose the ones like mitsubishi/panasonic/daikin/toshiba and u shd be safe with them.
  12. yupz, there's no ending in who's right or wrong... ultimately let ur ears and pocket be the judge, reviews found online are best taken with a pinch of salt.
  13. have to see what is the material used as not all ikea stuffs are reliable, esp those compressed chipboard, eg, LACK shelves won't last long, but some using solid pine wood is good.
  14. I just bot this last weekend! it's designed to protect boiling pots and pans from scorching burn-marks on the worktop by having 4 rubber feet supporting the entire s/s structure. yes, it looks and feels sturdy...
  15. so my guess you are stripping bare the entire gate, sand them down and prepare for a fresh coat or primer and anti-rust paint?
  16. Storage heater = more piping = more exp mixers = higher power bills
  17. Your title thread is misleading. R22 refrigerant is for non-inverter compressors. Only R410 is. I changed from R22 non-inverter to R410 inverter aircon few years back, piping reused back n still no problems for few years. Till now no gas leakage or whatsoever.
  18. gr8 to hear that. hope u are comfy with him in terms of pricing and personality.... will keep in touch.
  19. so the quote is getting cheaper or dearer?
  20. Problem is now wc bowls have to undergo pub testing for water efficiency. Those bowls that have more ticks will need flushing more than one time to really have a clean bowl. So in the end u dun save water from flushing at all. Same thing for those taps…Haaa
  21. you can try my contractor as per signature below. no harm asking him for a quote. generally, new walls built using hollow block may exhibit hairline cracks along the edges, what the contractor can minimize this is using low-shrinkage cement so that hairline cracks are reduced. tiles wise, if the contractor is careful to cut the tiles using rotary cutter, should be able to reinstate w/o problem. of cos standby a few spare tiles just in case.
  22. my 707 used for >15 years still no problems, so I'm buying back the 707 compact at $165.
  23. that's provided u have the luxury of time to oversee each and every aspect of the reno, from design to sourcing to completion. PS: LV is no longer that "in" thing to me .... so many pple carry them, real and cheong ones, hermes/chanel may still speak of some characters that separates the uncommon out of the ordinary. :D
  24. Yesterday my Hdmi cables ordered online finally arrived from HK after a month-long wait though… 5 pcs 1.5m v1.3 no frills cable costing <$6 per piece incl shipping… compared to sim lim towers $20+ a piece, dun even need to mention sim lim square or other neighborhood stores that sells those chio snakeskin design at a cutthroat premium Can retire my component RCA interconnects liao…
