  1. if that case, get a LEW/electrician to verify ur connections, since it does not appear to conform to current standards.
  2. usually lights use the Live (brown) and Neutral (blue) wires. The earth (yellow-green) wire can be left unconnected, but if can, connect to the metal chassis of the fixture.
  3. that's not all.... yours is an ad-hoc case which they called fibre-reached but not commissioned.... so don't assume after fixing up u can immediately subscribe for fibre BB as they will need another few months for backend testing ( i tink after backend testing they will bill u) which cannot be expedited (as their backend schedule is longer than MRT line)
  4. noted. i will continue to scout for roller blinds with my fren, as he's also reno-ing his flat, with cheap contractor-pricing.... meanwhile, i have to blindfold myself while sleeping cos i'm the type who can only sleep in complete darkness.....
  5. Not sure if the spice/condiment/sauce rack is correctly placed, but what i tink these items should be easily accessible while standing near the hob and need not squat down open cabinet, pull out wire basket to take them....
  6. Got some stainless-steel cable ties to replace the plastic ones... once loop thru, can forget about loosening liao....only way is to use metal snip/cutter to cut
  7. Maybe can diy… buy 2 identical clocks fix back to back with metal frame n mount
  8. Speak to him, if necessary, sketch out ur intended design n he will quote accordingly lor…
  9. Molecule at orchard central has it. $360+
  10. got it at Marina Square #03-301. $79. I dunno why am I paying so much for a clock, but the design is simple and nice, with battery backup or able to run on 4 x AA batteries or supplied AC adaptor. the shop there got other colors of LEDs to choose from, green, red, white, blue. Oregon Scientific is also nice with their high-tech clocks....may consider this for my bedroom.....
  11. the cut-out is also called a pelmet
  12. beautiful glass partition doors!!! confirm COV up by another 80k! it may cost a bit more but i'm very sure it's so satisfying to see it everyday :D a tip. get ur glass door contractor to throw in free sandblasted film to paste across the door. if u ask other place, they charge minimum of $80 to install. if there's no children, paste a horizontal film one-thirds from the top; if there's toddlers running around, paste another stretch at the one-third from the bottom. the film might impose some visual blocking, but safety comes first. where u do ur roller blinds and how much? I need them oso, PM me if ok with u. thanks.
  13. i feel like complaining to my TC on this. some more, the longkang is recessed in like a small channel like this ---___---, the drain color is the same as pavement, very easy to stumble and sprain leg as a result...
  14. for kitchen tops, it's usually made of plywood, followed by measurement of worktop dimensions, then bring the template back to factory for molding.....few days later they will bring the molded worktop (it's very heavy) back and mount it on top of the plywood top, complete and sealed with silicon. u can refer to my t-blog for the details how it's done. whether it's acrylic or granite worktop, it's still using plywood as the underlayer (i stand corrected though).... granite has its good and bad points, i can think of a few (the following is not exhaustive): pros - better resistant to heat (from boiling pots) than acrylic ones - classier and nicer cons - more expensive - there may be non-uniformity in color tones - there may be joint-lines - will get permanently stained if left uncleaned for too long - may require periodic polishing to upkeep the look - scratches can be very obvious against a dark surface for acrylic-based worktops, their advantages and disadvantages is opposite of the list above.... think u can search in RT to find out the pros and cons of acrylic-based compared to natural-stone worktops.... read this thread for some fresh horror stories of granite top.... u are lucky to have popped the question ..... not sure if this is representative of all granite worktops, but please be advised such things do happen. tiles-wise, u can check with him. basically whatever is pasted on the walls/floors u pay, what is excess/leftover u dun pay. of cos, keep some as spares just in case if u drop/knock something heavy that caused cracks. to save cost even more, decide on the top and bottom kitchen cabinets, and the wall behind these cabinets need not be tiled, since they can't be seen liao...
  15. bought a digital clock today.... needed something that's big and bright at night, wide angle view from utility room to living room also no problem....haaaa..... displays time, alarm, date and temperature (deg C or F displayable) ...
  16. yes, mixed together as a putty to fill up gaps. nope it doesn't stick onto smooth surfaces, the idea is to fill the gaps. once dried, use the same scraper or damp rag to wipe off... haha if too much trouble mixing, i think homefix sells pre-mixed grout putty in a 1kg tin... but once open liao must use finish, else may dried up and will be useless liao.
  17. just ask for the color u want. white is the most common, and colored (beige) ones maybe slightly difficult to find. black is ultimate sure won't get dirty one ....hahaha....but i haven't seen black cement powder before.... whatever the case, get this spatula (scraper) and the plastic tray ($3.5) as shown...so u can hold the mixed paste in the left hand while applying with the right hand holding the scraper ($2.5). the grout lines are spread over the grout lines as shown.... clean out those old cracking grout gaps using scraper to remove, test out the mixture to get the correct consistency, and try out yourself... quite fun oso, like spreading peanut butter on bread like that....hahaha
  18. No need go ikea buy, hardware store sells those extendable aluminum roads that attached opposite wall ends and install shower curtains.
  19. Yes it's possible to diy fill up the grout lines with white or colored cement. Buy some from hardware shop, get a scraper n small tray, mix water to a handful of powder, stir mix well to give a cream cheese consistency n apply between the gaps with scraper. Wait till dry and wipe off excess with damp clean rag.
  20. wah, progress starting to pick up speed liao.... dun worry too much about ur aircon, just fix the design u want, tell ur aircon contractor and main con and they will know what to do liao....
  21. So long the agreed descriptions are there, I believe the contractor/id won't pull stunts… if the quotation charges even for simple mounting, it simply means contractor/ID is really "ngeow", even additional small stainless steel screws oso must charge. this kind of item sure clients will ask them to absorb & provide FOC one, otherwise they will tell contractor/ID to go flykite. which is kinda self-defeating. simple drilling and fixing of items usually contractors/ID will do it no questions asked. unless u specifically want special fixtures like hilti chemical bolts or anchor bolts, that will cost extra.
  22. shd be no brainer one... haha, since i see all the units along the common corridor all install some form of plastic protection at their gates, useful or not, it shd work well......monkey see monkey do, my neighbours do i oso lor.... the shop told me all acrylics/polycarbonate perspex/plexiglass will age and become yellow and blur with time... if not shop will chup lup liao...
  23. how much does it sell for? where to get? my concern is the replacement battery can be quite costly though.
  24. haha, buy house liao still look at the val of the nearby units arh???? can like that calculate one meh? paper profit make u shoik nia....haaaa
