There isn't a fixed price to renovation of a home becox there are many factors involved. e.g. whether u are engaging an ID & if yes, which company u r going for; & with ID, whether u are paying for both design & quality (materials & workmanship) or one of the 2 aspects. Most home owners would work within their budget. However, given the amount of complaints coming from home owners who had botched jobs done for their home renovation, I would highly recommend that u select carefully & do not just based your selection of low cost. best wishes to your new home!

Hi, if u are interested, u can view my blogging topic on demolishing works & fabrication of solid walls for my flat & use it as a reference when u renovate your flat: Blogging title: Demolition & Fabrication of Walls (in between bedrooms) http://barbettey.blogspot.com/2012/05/demolition-fabrication-of-walls-in.html This is a repetition of my earlier review that was launched on renotalk forum but this topic had been unlinked from my username: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40463&st=120 best wishes!

According to this geomencer who appears frequently on TV & has his own followers (fans), he has published many videos & one of these has drawn many parallels with what your friends had shared with u regarding the altar position. (he is not my fengshui master even though mine is also a taiwanese) 林正義老師開講 : 居家風水之神位 http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=FL_A2N6_aIqWwSbfObv9pdqw&feature=player_detailpage&v=wKvnziCGotU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKvnziCGotU But is there any special reasons why u would want to opt for dark colours for the entire flat? From my perspective, unless u are an extremely positive & easygoing person to the extent that u could tolerate any problems & issues that come your way, otherwise, I would recommend that u pair off the dark colour with another lighter tone. As most of us are psychologically affected by our surroundings, dark colours have a stronger tendency to promote negativity & pessimism. An Indian neighbour had also mentioned to me that dark houses promote dark thoughts. Hope that u do not feel offended with these candid remarks. By the way, do u intend to get your flat audited by a fengshui master? Please do not misconstrue my remarks as selling u any services becox I'm not a fengshui master myself. I would also like to take this opportunity to share with u on what happened to one of my sister inlaw's home 5 years ago. She bought a 4 room flat that was opposite the vacant land in front of Hougang Mall. It was sold below valuation & the Malay owners had it renovated like a palace. The valuation report was renewed 3 times. Anyway, she bought it & didn't do any renovation apart from changing the colour scheme on the walls. The flat itself was already dim-looking becox it had been blocked by another block. As apple green was her favourite, she painted the entire living room a pastel green. Then, she had an altar with Tua Pekong positioned in her living room. And 3 months down the road, a spirit of an old lady appeared in the MBR & it seems like she's earthbound right in that room & does move around in other parts of the house occasionally. And she created alot of disturbances but the MBR was the favourite place for her.

I think it's high time that these irresponsible renovators get shot in the head. I hope that CASE will be able to assist you from here.

I'm a regular devotee at the seng hong temple @ Arumugam Road but I wouldn't say that I know alot about temples - thanks for paying me such a flattering compliment. The necessity of an altar or a shrine at home is for the purpose of prayers from my perspective. Is there a special reason why U had concerns over having an altar at home?

Auspicious Date For Moving House In June

U can also get those traditional Chinese almanac from joss stick shops. They should have it. And u could also try asking these shops to teach u how to interpret; I was being coached by an elderly aunty who owned such a shop. And u can even count your "bone weight" from the almanac. -
To Know Ur Id Better? Check With Hdb Website
edenstrauss replied to sandywu's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
What I found out is that HDb only gets involved if the renovators have infringed or committed any breach against hdb's policies & guidelines on Reno eg hacking onto structural barrier. If it is serious enough to warrant penalty, they get "rewarded" with demerit points which would then be reflected in hdb's website. Actually many subcons don't own a HDb license but the license is provided by a main contractor or an ID firm whom they work for. So if the subcontractors messes things up, the party with the license gets whacked. -
To Know Ur Id Better? Check With Hdb Website
edenstrauss replied to sandywu's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
The HDB website on the list of approved contractors for renovating flats would show any demerit points. However, it doesn't mean that those with a clean record are good & wouldn't give their clients headaches. As such, customers are recommended to be extra discerning when selecting a renovator for their homes. It's so sad to see the number of complaints being shared on stressful outcomes arising from unprofessional renovators. -
U r most welcome! I've been staying in my current & first matrimonial home for more than a decade & I can definitely understand where u are coming from... My previous neighbours who shifted to punggol were "bleeding" deep down in their hearts becox they missed their earlier flats. But given time, they are adapting well & are telling me how peaceful it was for them - So give yourself some time to get used to the new environment. It'll be my turn to wear your shoes when I shift one of these days.

Hi snappy, I hope that my comment hasn't run in too late as a reference. U might wish to consult the Taoist priests at the following temple becox they should be able to advise you accordingly: Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple No. 15 Arumugam Road Singapore 409960 tel: 6-744-3187 (website address: www.shtemple.org.sg) best wishes!

Geomency should be taken up separately from religion. Most cultures practice geomency e.g. the Indians practice Vastu (which is another form of geomency). However, these 2 had been merged together by many masters in Asia over the century (Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong). I believe it's to increase the potency of their practices & in some cases, to generate more sales revenue. If you are interested, you could do a search for Lillian Too's 3rd dimension fengshui where I believe she has merged fengshui with her religious beliefs in Buddhism.

Auspicious Date For Moving House In June
edenstrauss replied to curryfishhead's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
Every geomencer practices their skills based on different schools of thought in the world of fengshui. Wayonnet's sales representatives make it very explicit that their company do not select such dates unless the clients' home has been audited by their masters. They claimed that they practice selection of dates for home-related events e.g. renovation, moving in, enshrining, etc based on the auditing outcome of their clients' homes. However, some of masters might practice it differently by selecting dates independently without auditing their clients' homes. -
Is The Front Gate Considered The Main Door?
edenstrauss replied to wishxpress's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
I believe that it's the gate where the Qi is coming true as it's placed ahead of your main door. -
Hmm, I would think that it's part & parcel of most home owners to have some form of emotional attachment to their existing home especially when they have stayed in there for a substantial period of time to call it home. And this is even likely the case if it's your first matrimonial home. Since the moving out is non-reversible when u have already upgraded into a larger place, then give yourself the heads-up and move on. Think positive & tell yourself that whatever stress that u are going through is temporary. U mentioned post-natal blues, so I think that you're a new mama. congrats on a new addition to your family! If you could still feel the strain after confinement, I would highly recommend that you consult a TCM physician (that's assuming that nothing abnormal shows up in your medical screening). best wishes!

That's not nice of you to write such remarks! It really reflects badly on the ID firm D'Ampire Design that you are representing when u express yourself by writing such disgusting stuff on the forum for all to see. It isn't difficult for other forum members to imagine how your clients were being treated given your attitude here when representing your ID firm in this forum.
-
Since you are signing off as a representative of D'Ampire Design which is an ID firm, and mentioned that u just walked out of court arising presumably from renovation done for a client, did u win the case against your client? u just wrote in one of your entries that "small claims can not help" - and still recommending that the client seek legal recourse?? Isn't that self-contradictory?

How about approaching the press? U can get the reporter from Chinese newspapers to drop by to take photos. But without your face taken. It's high time such companies get some warning. From what u shared, it seems like the lady who took over your project isn't the boss or a partner of the company. It looks like she is a staff who took over. And as such, she is not pocketing any commission so your project is getting the least or minimal attention from her. Is she the boss of the company or the boss of the marketing segment your flat came under? Did you call up the main line to speak to the boss? U can buy a $5 report from acra to find out whether she is a boss or not. It doesn't seemed right that the owner of a business would be treating a customer the way she is.

Hi, U r welcome to ask me questions but sometimes, I might take longer than usual to reply Yes I do have contractors to recommend but u need to book him in advance after he makes a site visit to make measurements (and provide u with a quotation). His schedule is extremely packed with his regular ID & I have no idea if he could accommodate to extra appointments. U might want to visit my blogging entry here on what he has done for us - for our restoring our bedrooms which used to be amalgamated. He specialises in cement-related works but does have his own carpenter too who will show clients samples of formica, laminates & handles, etc, which was what I heard from other renotalk members who engaged him for such reno. http://barbettey.blogspot.com/2012/05/demolition-fabrication-of-walls-in.html I would PM u his number. Please check your mailbox.

According to my regular geomencer, there is no such thing as a perfect house unless we purchase our own plot of land & build up our own house. We would then have control over architecture & facing of the house, main door, back door, etc. As such, a professional geomencer would attempt to adjust the fengshui for the house to his/her best ability. Unless, the fengshui of the house is an inherent problem that there is totally no recourse, then u should consider giving up on it. Moreover, we should not be depending solely on fengshui as our means for bread & butter in lives. Most of us would still need to work to earn a living. A house is a place where u would call home & be spending a lot of time in it when u retire daily from work. It's very important that you are able to establish a connection with it as home-owners. So if the affinity U owners have with the flat is as such, then u are destined to be its home owners. In short, I would call it "fate".
