  1. Hi Chanel26, It's nice to learn that u've had a good kickstart after getting a FS audit. Who is ur FS master? Is he representing any temples here in Singapore?
  2. But that $50/ month is in addition to installation & misc charges right?
  3. Hi m@cky I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience with them. U felt that they were cheaper than other IDs but I felt that they were pricey... Anyways, I was glad that I striked them out from my list.
  4. I spotted this warehouse at Kapo factory that has a huge stockup for used sofas & mattresses. I do not have the contact number but I was told by the security guards that they buy over old & used furnitures for exporting out to other countries.
  5. Is feng shui really that important to you? Even before a kickstart into your new home, u r already feeling troubled & boggled over who to engage for audits. If it isn't mandatory from your perspective, then just go ahead and renovate without any fengshui audits for your flat. That's if you are prepared to take the risk. There are people who don't engage or adopt any fengshui cures even though they r putting up in supposedly homes with bad fengshui and they do well too. So it really depends on yourself. Your luck as well.
  6. Hi deb, Although I'm not from the industry, I think it's ridiculous that they claim that staying near the sea corrodes your wrought iron gate within months. It as if they r saying that your place is bathed or buried in sea salt! Do u think u'll want to report the matter to CASE? U could give them a buzz on their hotline and see what their consultants have to say first then decide on whether to pursue or jux drop the complaint. If corrosion took place within months of installation, then chances r those wrought iron that were used to construct the gate have not undergone any galvanising. Not at all. When I got my wrought iron gates from Metalworld Pte Ltd months ago, their workshop staff assured me that ALL their wrought iron parts had undergone cold galvanising, which is good enough for HDB flats. For those gates that baked under the hot sun for landed properties e.g. driveway gates, fencing grilles, they will require hot galvanising (additional cost) to fight against corrosion; which u will be able to detect a "lumpy" sort of texture (coarse grains) on the gate. And their gates come with 10 yrs warranty.
  7. But I thought that those pipes u r referring to are hidden in white trunkings right? And the rest would go into the toilet. Shouldn't be an issue.
  8. Hi cleong, I reckoned that Hougang Ave 1 r really old old flats & chances r u'll need extensive renovation, and thereafter, u run a risk of maintenance issues like water leakages from ceiling. My brother inlaw whose putting up at Hougang Ave 5, had his fair share of spalling concrete problems. Another brother inlaw bought his matrimonial flat at Hougang Ave 1 more than 10 yrs ago, did a major overhaul becox the flat was really so run down & stinky; and eventually, the ceiling started leaking & water collected on the false ceiling, which my inlaws didn't realise until the entire false ceiling gave way together with their ceiling lamps; crashed down while they were away from S'pore. By the time they discovered the mess when they came back from the airport, the damage was so bad on their flooring; many tiles cracked. So, it might just be a blessing in disguise that u give up such a flat to another owner. And yes, there r plenty of other choices around like what other RT members said. There might be another better one out there waiting for u to grab it
  9. Mine is gardening... But over 3 potted plants outside my flat only Wished I had more space for more potted plants
  10. I think it's better for u to give up on this flat. U're already having so much problems before even acquiring it under your name. So I think u should just give it up and continue looking elsewhere. Sometimes, it isn't true that there r potential buyers who have outbid u in COV. And if he were indeed a professional agent, I think they would want to close the deal ASAP too as they will want to get their commission fast. What if they ended up with no potential buyers eventually when they play such games? Actually, u could verify the identity of your seller's agent with the Property firm that he's representing. I've dealt with a few ERA agents and they would always visit with their landyard to identify themselves as ERA representatives. But for Pro***x, I don't see them wearing any of such passes.
  11. There definitely is. It'll have to be customised. U can try Fatt Chan Metal Industries. They have their own factory to manufacture & supply to condominium projects. And I was told that their grilles r thicker than the conventional sort (double hollow) & r used for bungalows. I used them for all my toilet doors, windows, kitchen door. Grills were already installed when I bought my flat.
  12. bepgof, is that ur money plant? Looks very very healthy & yummy What fertiliser did u use? Organic (chicken "sai") or non-organic type?
  13. Those poor plants r unlikely to survive in kitchens. Probabbly scorched to death by the heat emitted through cooking & boiling. Moreover, I don't think there's much sunlight in there.
  14. I strongly agree with mae29's suggestion that u try to do an overlay of new tiles on the existing ones to avoid hacking. A professional renovator should be able to assess suitability for overlaying & recommend accordingly. Nowadays, many people chose overlaying of new tiles for both kitchens & toilets. While I was scouting around for a renovator for alterations in my flat recently, this seems to be the prevailing trend. Some renovators would even tell me that they will turn down the job if hacking is required! U save cost with overlaying and chances of post-renovation problems (with flooring) r very low if the workmanship is good. At least, u wouldn't run a risk of getting a bad kickstart with ur neighbours down stairs when their ceiling started leaking as a result of your re-tiling.
  15. Hi I just PM-ed u. Plse chk ur mailbox
  16. Paiseh... history puts me to sleeeeepzzzz But u r right about the 子 word... I tried very hard to think of anybody I know who has this 子 word in their chinese names. Answer: None. Do u have any idea why this 子 isn't commonly used? Is it becox it'll sound strange? My late father inlaw's name is very stylo... his name is 徐风. Something like a 老-hero.
  17. But there r so many Japanese folks with the word 子 in their names.
  18. Yes I heard from a SPR whose from Hongkong working here that the HK-ers practice such rituals. Especially the rich, famous & even TV stars. And the spookier the graveyard is, the higher the potency of the ritual - chills off my blood when I think about it. And there were reports that xie tingfeng (xie-xian's son) also had such a "tomb", which was found at the graveyard. The HK media pressed on but his mother (is her name ti po-la or something like that) denied and said that there is no such thing. But evidence has been found at the grave site; until today, the family denied having anything to do with it. Better don't try out such things... I don't think the side effects could be reversed that easily. if really very "sway" (unlucky), even choosing good day to perform such a ritual could make things worse. I saw 1 taiwanese documentary on You-tube where they interviewed their geomencers on such practices; many said that there r very high chances that those clients might get counterproductive effects e.g. spirit possession; haunted by ghosts, etc. Some how or rather, they need to "pay back" in some way or another. If a person is destined to be down on luck, better go along with the flow of destiny. As the ah-long always vandalise on walls O$P$, I don't think it's easy to change a person's karma just by doing such rituals.
  19. that one I don't know yet... U go & try them out then tell us whether their standards measure up boh lor...
  20. Wow that is really very very bad quality! It would have cost u alot of $$, if totalled up the amount spent on repairs, I think u could have gotten yourself another brand But I even thought that Carrier brand was good. (currently under Toshiba) So what brand r u intending to purchase for now? p/s: I wondered if those newspapers were there for some special purpose... But to wrap the pipes in newspapers is so ridiculous! Maybe I'll get my hubby to pry open our trunkings tonight to see if there r newspapers inside...
  21. Looks really yukky... But is it a common practice to stash newspapers inside the trunking?? If it isn't, then those installers are being unprofessional & shoddy with work. What brand of aircon were u using previously? (the one that broke down frequently for the past 10 yrs)
  22. This is the first time I'm hearing that u require an auspicious date & timing to start using a stove. After we had the stove installed by the contractor, the first thing we did was to test it out to ensure that it's working. I'm sure that before u even had the chance to conduct any initiation ceremony for ur stove, ur installer would already have tested it as part of his job to ensure that ur stove is working
  23. I was told never to install any plants, real or artificial in my home. My element is earth so it could be because wood "ke" (opposes) earth. Some Geomencers also claim that artificial plants & flowers promote "tao-hua". It really depends on ur belief. If these issues aren't a concern for you, then just go ahead and do whatever u want to.
  24. I just passed by a hardware shop that specialises in door locks. They have a steady flow of business every day. They have all kinds of knobs & locks, but I'm sorry that I didn't look at their signage. It's along Sims Avenue on the right hand side of the traffic flow going towards Aljunied. Which meant that it's running along the opposite side of the stalls selling durians (during the night). I recalled that it's almost opposite a Tibetan establishment & it's likely that it's opposite a bird shop. Nearest MRT station: Kallang (between 2-3 bus-stops from MRT station)
