If you are looking for quality bathroom doors, you should be considering sliding doors (different from PD doors). They are supposedly the most lasting even though boring. PD door is a swing-slide concept. Months ago, I contemplated between PD & sliding. Went down to the showroom in Eunos, visited a few suppliers there, studied the PD door & gave up. Chose sliding doors. My previous bathroom doors were also sliding & they were already 15 years old. The rollers & lockset was changed just once & it was still working well except that the fibre glass looked a bit dirty & "obiang". So we decided to replace it. Otherwise, they're still working well. After around & getting good referrals, I got my 2 bathrooms' doors replaced with sandblasted sliding doors from a company that supplies alumimium doors, grilles, etc to condominiums & bungalows. They own a factory at admiralty industrial area - the boss would personally supervise the installation while his brother manages the production team. Their workmanship is very good and I was pleased with every aspect of the transaction. Aftersales service was also good even though they have already. We have received many compliments from relatives, who started engaging them too. If you are interested, please PM me and I would pass you their company name & contact number. (not sure if I could disclose openly becox I wouldn't want to be misunderstood as promoting / advertising for them)

Can Current Latex Mattress Users Please Advise?...
edenstrauss replied to jaydenmom's topic in Home Furnishings
If you are sleeping in an airconditioned room, latex mattress shouldn't feel hot. But if you are not sleeping in such an environment but in a room with just a fan turned on, chances are you might find it hot & wake up with perspiration. Hope this helps! -
I've written some comments related to altars supported by lion & dragon claws. For those who are interested in reading it, please look under renotalk forum member, kalimantan's discussion thread on "Dragon-ly And Lion-ly Speaking ..."
-
Lions, tigers and dragons are wild, ferocious beasts and therefore have very strong 杀气; and have to be used with great care. Otherwise, they could lead to disasters, like some of my neighbours and friends. Disclaimer: Please note that my comments are shared in good faith based on personal experiences and is not meant as a tool for challenging views of other members, which might differ from mine in view of religious, cultural beliefs & backgrounds. Hence, kindly understand that this is an information sharing platform. Lions & tigers: Stone Lions - My friends from Beijing mentioned to me that those stone lions flanking both sides of the main door/ gate are only applicable for those who are extremely wealthy and are very very influential with strong power in society. Not that many and could be counted with our fingers. Otherwise, like what dome81 has explained, instead of protecting his owners and occupants, they will turn uncontrollable and "bite" back instead. It's very unlucky. So unless a skillful FS master recommends them, otherwise, refrain from using them. Prayer altar tables with tiger / dragon claws - I came across one from a rosewood furniture shop at Upp Paya Lebar Road. I had checked with a few sources because I wanted to buy it to replace my old altar. Interpretation 1: A taoist priest said that if there is no lion / tiger heads found on the altar and that the deity seated on the altar table has been blessed ("kai-kuang"), there should be no issue - the deity would exercise "control" over it. It occured to me then that some of the temples have altar tables with lion heads, supported by claws. Interpretation 2: My brother inlaw and parents said don't buy that type of altar table supported by claws. Not advisable. Avoid totally, don't need to see or buy. Inpretation 3: One old neighbour claimed that such altars are meant for Guan-Di / Tau Pekong. Not for Guanyin. Rosewood sofa seatees (sofa) with tiger/ dragon claws: Not sure but even some of the rich & influential doesn't use such furnitures supported by such claws. Lion heads at the entrance of the door: This is a No-No. - I read it from the newspapers that it has very very strong 杀气 and would hurt neighbours or whoever who stays nearby, especially those directly opposite. - According to some FS masters: if the owners install such lion heads, end up hurting people around them, negative karma would catch up with them because they believe what comes around goes around. Paintings of Tigers : - One antique shop uncle claimed that this have to be used with care and they normally recommend it for people who have many "小人" (villians) around them, got bullied until it couldn't be any worse off. So the tigers are placed (not sure at which part of the house) to back them up. Dragons: Not to play with fire in mounting any paintings, statues or fixtures of dragons. According to the elderly folks, it is a symbol of the yellow emperor from the ancient times and not to be taken lightly. My granny said that during the ancient times, it represents the emperor & ordinary folks cannot anyhow use the symbol on themselves or their homes. Otherwise, they get beheaded. ("trouble with the law") Exception is made for those who are relatives of the emperor such as his siblings & uncles, but provided they r holding high official posts in the court & are king-makers (i.e. politicians who help the emperor consolidate his power & make him a very strong king). So there are not that many out there who could accept the dragon. If you translate what she says into modern times, the dragon is to be avoided by ordinary folks, people who had many hurdles in life & who are sickly by nature. Unless recommended by a very skillful FS master, the owners will get into trouble with the law. And some would even fall sick. E.g. One neighbour shifted into new flat, got fined by traffic police and other govt agencies. On average every week. We didn't believe it until he showed us the traffic police tickets - he had to appeal to court for a partial waiver ("discount") because he didn't have so much $ for paying up. Another old neighbour who went over to his place to borrow hammer spotted a painting of a dragon and made him take it down. And we were told that it worked and no more summons. Gates: I was initially going to install a wrought iron gate dragon design from Metalworld pte ltd. They've got one really beautiful & most expensive gate, featuring a Tang dynasty version of dragon on a square metal plate. Luckily, my previous experience triggered off an alarm in my head & I figured out that I'll better check with the Lorong Koo Chye Ba temple's Seng Hong God if it'll work for us. (I can't just change it later on if there's an issue; cost more than $1k several months back) The answer through the oracle is a straight NO. It was interesting that the oracle he gave us was read as the dragon could become what it is or turn into a snake & bite us. Based on the lunar month of interpretation for the oracle, what I wanted to do turned out to be a very bad lot. So we dropped the dragon design. ... End of (very loooong) Story ...

Selling Liu Li Zodiac - Rat / Tiger / Dog
edenstrauss replied to skyearth's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
How about selling them on ebay? I don't think you could get a good price at cash converters. -
Bought my rosewood altar from samtat this afternoon. Then my hubby strike 4D with the numbers in their invoice. ibet. Not enough to cover what we paid for the altar but got some $$ back, better than none. Coincidentally, my parents who bought their rosewood partition from them 5 years ago, also strike a huge lumpsum the minute the item was delivered & installed in their home. So they literally got their partition free + abit extra "side wealth". The salesman @ samtat was mentioning to us how another customer strike with their invoice number also... I also noticed that the fengshui for their macpherson showroom seems pretty good because of the convex curb that "loops" the layout of their shop with a side road - duno make sense to anybody what I'm talking about. It's like a small side road that drivers turned into from the main road. In the ancient times, such formation is known as the jade belt "玉腰带". The concave would have the opposite effect... I used to have a friend who owns a shop just next to a concave drive-in for vehicles at a small shopping mall. Verdict: business losing $$.

Selling Liu Li Zodiac - Rat / Tiger / Dog
edenstrauss replied to skyearth's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
They are very beautiful items from the pictures but did you buy it recently from house of fengshui? If yes, you might want to try to appeal for an exchange of other items. Some merchants might accept an exchange for recent purchases for goodwill. good luck! -
Bamboo Plant - For Deco Vase For Kwanyin
edenstrauss replied to kalimantan's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
Hi Kalimantan, according to some FS masters (not sure if it includes TKY fr wayonnet), the "kwanyin teck" (in hokkien) is not advisable. reason: it might invite evil spirits to stay in there if owners r really unlucky. I know this might sound ridiculous because it's only a plant but u've got to judge youself. An aunty staying near my place used to work for a textile factory in woodlands for 20 years until she got retrenched in 2006. She claimed that her ex-boss' FS master asked him to put the "kwanyin teck" inside vase on the altar. The company went bust anyway. They lost all their contracts with big players in the fashion industry. -
Oh I see. I missed that part on the blessing from the temple... So I had the idea that it is just an ordinary elephant. "paiseh"

Need Help : Buying Extra Buddhism Statues
edenstrauss replied to kalimantan's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
Hi bepgof, cool man with coooooool answer! -
Hi noobhouse, the Loyang Tau Pekong temple's priest claimed that when it gets too "crowded" and nobody "adopts" the dieties' statues in the common place, they would normally perform rituals to invite the gods to leave the statues then proceed to "hua". I've heard before that some mediums would not retain the statues but go straight into the rituals to "hua".

Wardrobe Wwith Mirror At The Side Of The Bed
edenstrauss replied to Hamster06's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
I think it's best to remove both panels of mirrors!! -
Suit yourself as you deemed fit since you have the mindfulness to realise that there are onlookers who could judge for themselves. I have better stuff to look upon than your insinuating remarks. Shall not waste time on someone's whose bent on finding fault. Good luck to you!

The FSM did explain that the tilting is a must because we slammed into the neighbr's "corner" at the opening of the door (duno whether this makes sense to u or not). When we stand inside the flat & look out from the main door entrance, we see abit of our neighbour's door. Our flats are diagonally across each other & there is abit of overlapping of units. So when my inlaws came to our flat, they said we were stupid to buy this type of flats - according to them, it's unlucky because got blockage. We've already got floor tiles (ceramic tiles but very high-shine & good quality type) when the FS master audited the first time 10 yrs ago. So if we were to tilt the door frame, then our floor tiles will be destroyed... my flooring at the entrance liao liao leh... wow the measurement part is so "cheem". I will try to measure but maybe i'll end up ... confused

Wow that's a cool answer! Yes agree with u!

Hi there Lionheart, do u know me personally that u r always crossing swords with me in whatever that's written in the forum?? It seems that you are so unhappy & displeased with whatever that I have been sharing with others on this platform. Have you ever heard of "A person's perspective & interpretation of another is a mirror reflection of him/herself". For a fleeting moment, I actually thought that you are one of those geomency masters yourself whose competing for businesses that you are badmouthing others who are sincere & keen in sharing experiences with others in this forum. It seems like you are unable to tolerate differences coming from others and had great difficulty understanding that everybody has a choice as to whether to voice out or keep silent about experiences. Those who have good social graces & a strong depth of understanding in communal differences among people would definitely always have many friends, who will be more than willing to share experiences & useful information. Seems like the word "networking" isn't found in your dictionary! So please mind your manners if you are one who belongs to a polite society!

When I first shifted to my matrimonial flat many years ago, I mounted my dressing mirror on a panel of wall outside the toilet. My FSM who came for the audit 10 yrs ago told me to bring it down & relocate it to another position. Nobody would want to magnify the bad energy that flows out of the toilet. Instead, after looking @ his luopan, he got us to mount a picture of a flower blooming & leave the toilet door open. I got the picture fr IKEA @ $20... When i look @ the mirror in the toilet, I see the reflection of the pink wall with a huge pink flower blooming... Not sure if that was why we strike lottery during those days & i even boarded a bus, chose a seat by luck with $300 worth of $50-notes, folded in quarters... obviously somebody dropped it from the pockets probabbly sewn at the back of their pants. It sounds dramatic but this was what happened to us. On another day, my hubby's car was sent for maintenance repair & he took bus 145... guess what? he was going to sit on a seat at the double deck when he found $$ again... We got really scared with such encounters that we decided to donate the $$ - we heard that u win some & lose in another manner. But we had new issues - because the toilet is always wet, our clothes & my branded handbags got very mouldy in the wardrobe So we kept the toilet door close all the time for many years ... and thereafter until today, my hubby said his 4D #s will also miss the target. But with the tight travelling schedule, he had stopped buying already.

The FS master told us to make sure the gate is skewed from the hinges (at the pivot point) by 1" to 2" and must be single panel & opening on the same side as the main door. We chose the maximum 2". His recommendation was 10 years ago but we only implemented it now because what he had predicted 10 yrs ago turned out true. How to measure how many degrees? shame shame shame on me because I forgot all about secondary school maths But for sure the handle of both door & gate is on the same side because the purpose is for the tilted gate to over-write the main door so that we don't slam into the neighbr's "墙角".

hi huat, that's a really cool answer! actually as to where the god wants to sit none of us would really know. so long as the owners r comfortable, why not? the neighbours staying upstairs placed their altars differently from us. Theirs is looking into the living room & directly out of the door. whereas mine was just next to the main door & looking out of the whole row of windows at the balcony... but both of us r comfortable with our own arrangement... so everything is ok for both families even tho' different positioning for altar.

Hi Kalimantan, I would like to share my humble opinion as follow: Renovations: Renovations will improve the FS for the premises only if it's structurally related to FS. e.g. the position of the door for landed property so that the owners will have better finances (earn more $). e.g. the stove in the kitchen is positioned such that all the beds in the rooms r facing it (something along thoses lines). To me, renovations have to have a major impact in improving the FS of the flat. Some flats might be old & run down but if the existing FS is good, why make major reno & change things? Otherwise u'll be dropping $ down the drain unless u just want to give it a facelift. Guan Yin altar: TKY (wayonnet) would always place his clients' altar such that it is looking into the living room & guarding the owners staying in the flat. My altar is placed looking out of windows (@ balcony) with the main door at the side & not looking into the living room. And during special ocassions like CNY & praying to "tian-gong", it was a strategic ideal location: we'll set up tables & place offerings for praying. The taiwanese FS master who came said that it was an ideal location even tho' we installed without his instruction. But the one sure thing is that u need to put ur altar with the deity against a solid wall From my perspective, unless your partition is a solid brick wall. If it's a hollow wall, it's probabbly going to be a disaster! If u open your door & it's facing windows, u could just buy a partition or get a carpenter to build up a partition for u to "block" ur finances from flowing out of the flat. But again, not everybody is affected by such structures. Many of the punggol flats r built with such a layout. sengkang too. A friend of ours bought a rosewood partition with glass (8 carps motif) mounted on top from samtat. They strike 4D that week with the invoice # & won $3,000. "... but i must remove all Mr Tong's fengshui strategy and setup a new Mr Chang fengshui strategy. This is so that i can evaluate the effectiveness of different stratgies but NEVER try to combine them all to get max effects. He told me like u see Doctor A, then visit Specialist B, yet i try to consume BOTH medicine. He suggest ONE DOCTOR remedy." - Kalimantan, I agree with Mr Tong's views. U can only retain certain parts of Mr Tong's recommendations if Mr Chang said so (that's if u r using Mr Chang). I also agree that if it doesn't work ultimately, the outcome will be disastrous. There were many stories of how good things turned bad with FS. Long long stories. How about going to famous waterloo street to request for a oracle from the thousand hand guanyin? I would normally get 1 "chaim" fr waterloo temple & another from lorong koo chye seng hong temple fr seng hong god - very accurate if u tell the god what u wanted to know very clearly.

I m confused... isn't it the same for all flats where gate will swing out & door swings in? My main door is also located at the extreme end of the wall. I also don't understand what u meant by the hinge fixed at the fright of the frame - all flat owners have 2 frames: door & gate. Ur right - right when u r standing inside ur home or outside? Both my gate & door r fixed at the right side of their respective frames (from the inside of my flat). But gate still swings out & door still swings into the flat. My gate also has 1 single panel only but tilted at an angle.

Yes she has that type of "ming" (i.e. life) to be the chosen one to be sacrificed. There's one tamil movie that was aired on vasenthram channel last year from 9pm to 2am that was similar to this tragedy fr M'sia. I think it's known as Chandramoorthy. It was a truelife story in India about a haunted mansion that was previously the palace of a raja who killed his concubine & her lover... During the modern times, the mansion was bought over by a rich guy who married a lady with a split-personality disorder. Apparently the mansion was very terribly haunted especially in one of the west wings of the premises where that concubine used to be staying at. The female ghost targetted at the owner's wife. It is really very interesting to watch. The cast of actors & actresses is a good mix with a punch of comedy. Some native Indian friends here in S'pore claimed that this movie was so much in demand that it was aired in all theatres in India for 1 whole year!

the part about "喝西北风" is very interesting... I didn't link up with this when I bought my flat. My main door faces north but the balcony faces *... Both me & my spouse rarely stay for long at home because we travel very often. the taiwanese FS master did tell us that the main door facing is not suitable for us because we'll need to choose a south-west for optimal FS. But thanks for sharing. "喝西北风" sounds like a nightmare from FS perspective.

"gate swing toward wall (not "rejecting" ppl)." hi what do u mean by this? Do u mean when we open the door, the door is blocked by neighbour's flat? My gate must swing 180 degree than will go to the wall...
