The costs depends on whether the panel is made of PVC, normal glass or tempered glass but framed in aluminium. It'll also depend on ur contractor & your toilet door's dimensions. I got mine from owners of a factory that specialises in aluminium based metal works for doors, grilles, etc. They do not advertise and do not own any showrooms as they handle landed property assignments, commercial & condominium projects.

What Is Gong Gong Jia (eat) Ti Kong ?(hokkien Phrase)
edenstrauss replied to kalimantan's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
It's better to be "gong-gong" than to be called a smart aleck! (aka alec) -
Wah, the Qi thing is so "cheem"... the next round when I get my taiwanese master to audit my flat, will ask him more about it. Ok I will take ur advice but I don't think my flat has that Qi issue becox my master claimed that my flat has very good Qi circulation & very bright, breezy. No blockage on both front & back of my flat's facing... main thing is that the main door is facing the wrong direction but still can be rectified. The horning part can't really hear as compared to those blocks nearer to the wateroad. Ours is a corner unit, exclusive 2 units at my level only, very quiet... No peeping toms, unless they want to peep at our lift lobby through the emergency staircase's door!! Talking about alot of wind coming through those windows... We ever had $100 notes flying in through the windows in our dining room; 4 pieces infact. Sometime 2 weeks back before we flew out of S'pore. I thought it was a joke on counterfeit notes but upon going to the bank to get it verified, they were - real! It's a pity that those flats in punggol came up, becox prior to that 5-6 years ago, our place was extremely windy throughout the entire year. My grandparents would come into the flat & stay for the whole day, enjoying the breeze. But after those flats came up, it's still windy, but no longer throughout the year But becox there is no blockage at the front & back of our flat, the wind that follows before & after the rain is extremely strong - can disarmed the painting, which according to my hubby, he claimed that the frame is made of... plastic. Towards November & in December, no need to turn on aircon or any fans.

Aiyoyo... Of course it's good lah! Becox the scenary is so nice - fish ponds always have a very therapeutic, soothing effect. Otherwise, why would people pay $$ just to visit those beautiful fish farms with beautiful ponds?? The sound of water trickling down into the pond with the beautiful fishes swimming in there is enough to relax all my muscles & tension... Do u recall of those music CDs depicting the sound of nature? It's to make u relax urself & help u destress - so of course it's good.

What Is Gong Gong Jia (eat) Ti Kong ?(hokkien Phrase)
edenstrauss replied to kalimantan's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
errrh... sorry to say this hor, yes that's what this hokkien phrase means. I don't think it is anything bad. My hubby was labelled as the "gong-gong" in this hokkien phrase also - and if you look at it from the positive point of view, it is good. People who has extremely complicated minds tend to see things in a more complicated manner, and created more problems for themselves. So they would normally, not see themselves as being favoured by "Ti-Gong" (Jade Emperor up in Heaven) becox they might end up unlucky or see themselves as such after creating problems (for themselves & maybe, for others too). And from my own personal observation, the "gong-gong" people are generally (& usually) free from worries & depression becox of their simplicity. And becox of this simplicity nature of theirs, they usually have many "Gui-ren" (patrons who will lend them a hand when in need or required to succeed in whatever that they do). The verdict is: Think complicated, complicate things. My lecturer used to tell us that many "clever" people analyse & analyse until they become "paralysed" (up there in their minds). So say a Big Thank You to that person who called u a "gong-gong" -
Yes, I agree u will have restrictions with built-in stuff & if u have intention to sell, the potential buyers might not like the style, concept & location of cabinets. If FS is a consideration, what works for one owner might not for another. And, reno cost is sunk cost - cannot get back. But if u have built in cabinets under those extra spaces under the windows, u can store as many pairs of shoes & whatever unsightly "rubbish" in there I always hide the extra stuff I bought (out of feminine impulse) in all those places... they r my hiding places

Condo premises have restricted access and no outsiders could enter that easily. U & ur condo neighbours pay for the security guard sitting at the main entrance leh... So unless your condo neighbours or people who visit steal shoes, otherwise, ur shoes are alot safer than those outside flats. But even for flats, not every estate will face such problems. Some residents left their doors & gates unlocked throughout the night or with housekeys stuck to the lock, door due to carelessness or forgetfulness, but nothing bad happened. Phew!

Feng Shui Master Or Renovation Contractor
edenstrauss replied to oliginal's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
My parents got their interior designer/s to join in during the house audit. I didn't like the idea becox the IDs will get to hear about personal stuff pertaining to their clients. -
Ok thanks for such a detailed explanation U know what my husband will say if I start telling him about such things? He'll say, U better spend ur time sleeping or watching DVDs better... becox think too much later go "seow" hehehe I think on the whole, my place has very good Qi becox can see the expressway (with many small red lights along that whole stretch during traffic jam at night) but can't hear the noise. The cars r about 0.5cm miniature size in visual sight running on the expressway based on my estimation. Also got one multi-storey carpark without rooftop (5 levels only - no noise becox my unit is on a very high level & sometimes can spy at people's car designs, whether colour nice or not, or "lao-pok" car, lexus, porche, etc) right infront of that stretch of windows, then, followed by a wateroad (both ways traffic) infront of that multi-storey carpark. That wateroad can hear abit of noise on & off. On right hand side of spare bedroom & dining room can see a covered bridge (glossy cobalt blue rooftop) - that one sure got heavy human traffic in the morning & nite. Very windy. My sister inlaw complained that the wind coming in through the 12 windows blew off my waterfall painting from my dining room wall many times. She also complained about having to mop my flooring every 2 days becox of the dust... Is it becox my painting is too light then it got blown off? And my nephew said all his lecture notes flew off all over the living room when there is no heavyweight sitting on them.

Do Laminate On Existing Bedroom Doors
edenstrauss replied to millienium_bear's topic in Carpentry Works
$420 could get you a veneer door, which might turn out to be of an even lower price depending on the quality & door supplier. -
do you have those extra concave spaces under the windows? Not sure if u know what I'm referring to but u could get carpenters to create cabinets beneath them & use them for storage purposes instead of having shoe racks all over the house. To be honest, I find shoe racks unsightly if u have too many of them in the house. We feel the pinch when people steal our stuff but those thieves will feel the "pinch" later on becox what comes around goes around.

Hey, in my dad's old flat in bedok during the 1980s, both my mum & my own shoes (which were just newly repaired by an old cobbler at blk 50+) were stolen when we placed it outside the main door!! The best part was we didn't realise that anything was missing until we wanted to wear those shoes then realised that... they were gone! We have a plastic shoe rack outside our own flat now but we stuff it with all those lousy, damaged, heavy weight stiny shoes & dirty gardening materials. And throw out 3 pairs of damaged, cheapo slippers at main door for "show". If they want, can take lor becox all 3 pairs got sewing on it & "sewn" with wire mesh ... hehehe

I'm not so sure about such swing doors. Becox I haven't done any research on such doors while I was looking around to change my toilet doors this year (few months ago). But if it's to be used in the toilet, which tends to get wet, it's likely that the contractor would supply you with the hollow plastic type. However, such items r already out-dated from what I observed. R u sure you want to use those? It is very light and I'm not sure how ur contractor is going to install for your toilets, say, if you are doing it for your flat. Not sure about the condos & private houses's toilet layouts... varies. For flats, there are grooves (like a small strip of raised platform) outside the toilet/ bathrooms. If you use that swing door, your contractor will have to install the door such that it'll swing towards the inside of the toilet. Takes up alot of space & I believe it's not so nice-looking also. Reminded me of aluminium swing doors for toilets in the 1970s-80s. And there is normally no door frames for toilet doors so I'm not sure how ur contractor is going to drill a hole in the wall (without breaking any of ur toilet wall tiles) to accomodate your swing door's "lock" when u need to close the door using the knob. U can check this out with all ur bedroom doors - u must hv a door frame for such swing doors which are made of solid wood. I saw it once in a makeshift toilet in another country (remoted region), they attached a really "obiang" looking hook to latch up such a door. Have u checked with ur contractor? Or still scouting around? If budget is a constraint, I will recommend that u go for bi-fold doors. should be abt $200+ depending on workmanship.

If you are referring to wedding banquets in terms of budget constraints, you shouldn't go for a hotel ambience. Go direct to the restaurants to have your banquet held there. U could try out Singapore Expo; they've got one reasonably good restaurant. I was told that it'll cost about $600+++ per table.

Thanks for explaining to me about 格局正; the T-junction makes me feel really uncomfortable. When I was scouting for a matrimonial flat, we came across an older bedok flat, can't recall which avenue. The facing of the flat (living room's windows) is looking down directly on a T junction: when I look out of the windows, I felt like I was being "stabbed" by a loooong arrow or knife coming towards me. And the owners look... eeerh... wierd lor, they got all kinds of stuff on their altar table. The flat also look kind of Yin-dark. Drains: I heard about it being associated with bad finances so it's supposed to be no good in terms of financial wealth... Got questions for you : a) Do u mean to say that expressways, roads are good as in generating good Qi? But those flats next to express way suffers from noise pollution that my neighbours staying there said even with windows closed also cannot really sleep... Very windy when I went down to view that room but the noise is terrible! The agents complained about having difficulties selling off those flats at a good price. b) The expressway can be viewed on the left hand side from my dining hall & spare bedroom - does that mean that the Qi will only benefit those staying along expressway? Here, have 1 cup of champagne

But what about those branded shoes? Like those from Jimmy Choo ($3,000 a pair, depending on what designs) and Chanel, Versace? Can get stolen leh...

Paiseh, didn't mean to "aiyo" at u Actually my dad & mom had wrong timings on their birth certificates. All my mother's siblings had their timings declared at 5 AM by my maternal grandfather - funny guy. But can size up what is her actual timing through the bone weight, which is higher than the timing declared & both readings are all great anyway As for my dad, my paternal granny declared his DOB as 3 days earlier than actual day. Read off bone weight for both, both also equally good in terms of wealth. Wah, sooooo good

Sliding door If u have sufficient space inside your toilet, u should go for sliding door becox it's the most durable. But that's if your contractor has given u one that's made of good quality material and a good installation is done. Materials: aluminium frame with PVC, sandblasted glass, etc. Bi-fold door Depending on frequency of usage and materials used, may or may not last. Common complaint is that the entire door comes out of the sliding track at the bottom. When rough handled, might risk dislocating the door. normal open & close type what do u mean by normal open & close type? R u referring to swing doors made of plastic but hollow in between, aluminium frame with PVC panel or tempered glass swing door found in some spas, toilets of newly renovated food courts??

Hi bepgof, what is 格局正 ? the part you've mentioned about staying in a prison to retain Qi really makes me...

Putting shoes above one's head is for those retail shops selling shoes. Rental space is limited and expensive, so every bit of storage space counts, as such, must make best use of space. Whatever couldn't be accomodated at height level, must go above the head. As for building shoe cabinets at or above height level, it gives me an "overpowering" feeling. Feels so odd. Just imagine if a flat has a giant shoe cabinet (those enclosed type) placed outside its main door, it gives people a very overpowering sensation as to how come the cabinet is bigger than the door? Or worse still, they might even think that the shoe cabinet is the main door!?! hahaha

I think this master u've mentioned is skillful. There are masters who are like that, but very rare over here in Singapore. If u want to trace for him, u have to find out through the grapevine of geomencers... that's if u know whose who & those FS reporters/ editors, including those moving in the Malaysian circles - afterall, Singapore is so near. My own taiwanese master uses a person's facial features to complement his bazi readings. Once a newly wed couple whom we referred to him were told that the wife provided wrong timing for herself. Should be AM but the lady gave as PM. Reason: If PM for that date & year of birth is for somebody with a royal status e.g. a princess. The lady told us eventually, that she didn't realise the mistake until she went back to check her birth cert! I couldn't believe that a person could forget their timing of birth. Aiyoyo! A saudi friend of ours also had a shock when he said that my master kept asking him if he gave the correct bazi. The explanation given was: his features didn't coincide with a person having such a good bazi.

Good/ Bad Omen: Swallow Bird Flying Outside Lift Lobby
edenstrauss replied to edenstrauss's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
Too bad that the swallow didn't leave any valuable souveniers for us - i.e. bird nest -
Yeah, makes sense lor... According to my dad, he claimed that those shelves which are exposed without any doors covering them, are like blades that will "sha" (kill) people. The way he puts it, makes us all laugh until we were rolling on the floor.
