  1. Did u report the matter to CASE? Does it come with any warranty? What's written in your invoice? If it doesn't say anything about "leather" in the description, then chances r, u've been ripped off. But did u get to view & test the actual sofa which I reckon should be on display for testing & trying out by customers? For the price u're paying, it ought to be leather of reasonable quality. Little Wode a Wingtai building's leather products r around that price range & comes with warranty. One of my brother inlaws also bought a so-called leather sofa set from a furniture mall but received an item of the same colour with different texture; and he wasn't able to pursue the matter becox the invoice doesn't indicate that he was paying for a "leather" product.
  2. U can go to the famous waterloo street Guanyin temple to proceed with enshrining i.e. kai-guang. What I was told is that u pick ur own dates & bring it to that temple; then they will do it on the spot unless there's a long queue for kai-guang. The temple doesn't allow any overnight deposit of statues; owners r to bring it over on the very day itself. Then after kai-guang, u just make some monetary donation into the box at the front altar. And also, obtain a mini satchet of the joss sticks ash from the temple. They can only spare a very small amount of it becox of the high demand for it. Good luck!
  3. Drinkly freshly grounded fruit juice would slim u down. And if u could stomach green apples, drink its juice, freshly blended without the fruit pulp. U'll slim down really fast. However for those who r prone to bloating & stomach ailments, please avoid green apples, strawberries, cherries.
  4. Yes do try out & give some reviews But their $$ plant is not those local versions being planted along corridoors or offices. Not the taiwanese $$ plant also. If we eat those, I think our lives would be in danger!
  5. Hi chia90 thanks for recommending... I'll try it out next week I have eaten at the Alishan Porridge's; love their food but their fish can be very very expensive. I was billed $22 for 1 chunky piece of codfish after my meal - thank goodness I didn't have indigestion or acid reflux like some of their clients after receiving the bill hehehehe... Did u try out this ban-mian noodle stall which offers seafood soup with Japanese pearl rice at Kovan wet market? 永昇 Blk 209 #01-07. Directly across the carpark overlooking the nursery. Black signage with a very unique YIN-YANG dish of chilli paste & dishes printed on it. The boss is a handsome looking man probabbly in his 40s with a very smiley face; defined as a cassanova by my standard With an older plumpish uncle (wearing specs) helping him out. I have a strong relish for their food which has a very unique & different method of preparation. They use a type of edible $-plant for preparing their food instead of caixin which is the norm. And the seafood soup would have things like clams or mussels; giving it a very light but palatable taste. Not oily at all. I need 2 bowls of rice to go with the soup. Yummy... I think u could almost sense me salivating infront of the desktop while typing this out. Maybe I'll eat the 汤圆 at the selegie stall that u recommended first, then go to the kovan stall to eat my favourite 永昇 seafood soup
  6. U know what bepgof? U'll fall off your chair if I were to tell u this. I thought that 至 means "ending" Chinese words r so cheem leh...
  7. In the past when we were kids, my paternal granny used to make her own 汤圆 which comes in both white & dark pink colours. I could still remember the stern look on her face when we kids r determined to outwit one another in making 汤圆 of different shapes & sizes. But nowadays, she's too old with severe dementia, to even remember how to make the 汤圆. Infact all of us grandchildren & her own kids don't eat any more 汤圆. Everyone of us are just too busy with our own lives & activities. Sounds kind of... sad. We have definitely lost our footing in our roots as Chinese now that grandma isn't able to make anymore of those yummy 汤圆 and when we were all grown up.
  8. Yes please share more about the "angmor's (exactly is babylon's)12 zodiac or the chinese called 黄道十二宫". Very interesting to learn more about the history of zodiac signs That's when u got the time to do so... My hubby would normally buy 汤圆 from supermarkets just for praying to GuanYin, never eat leh... just don't like the taste of it. And never have the urge to eat them. But if we never practice eating 汤圆, will that bring about bad luck? No right?
  9. Hi vratenza, I'm so sorry to hear about ur bad experience with Helping Hand. No wonder their furnitures r always on great sale nowadays. I bought from them 10 yrs ago & didn't have such issues. One of my cabinets also has saw dust spilling out from the gaps where the sliding portions of the drawers r becox they didn't install rollers so the friction would cause parts of the teak wood to rub against each other when we pull out the drawers. But if the saw dust kept appearing, then... something is terribly wrong! Proabbly signs of termites becox the wood is disintegrating. I think Helping Hand should take this feedback seriously. Otherwise, it'll hurt them at the end of the day when they've got no supporters for their teak products.
  10. How come they call it 冬至? Is it because winter is ending soon?? Over in Singapore, do we experience the effects of 冬至 & 立春? I only know that the first 6 months of the year at my home is the hottest, can fry eggs at my balcony
  11. Hmmmm, I don't think this is going to make much differences to the taxable amount for rental income. I was told by the IRAS hotline that if we sublet the entire flat, we could minus off the total amount for Property Tax & HDB interest; and if u rent out TV to the tenant, u could claim TV taxes. But if it's just rooms, we have to pro-rate these amounts by square feet of the rooms rented out.
  12. Thanks for recommending coolserve. I'll call them up to hv a chat first becox my aircon is 15 yrs old & require servicing. The last round somebody recommended me a chap who speaks only chinese & cantonese; he told me over the phone that if my compressor emits any forms of noise, then my compressor is already spoilt. He said the damage is already too severe to be repaired; and that was his verdict without even viewing my compressor or aircon... And he told me over the phone that it's best to get the entire aircon suite changed to a new set!!! I knew that this guy couldn't be trusted so the conversation ended there & then. My gutfeel tells me that he would damage my compressor for sure.
  13. I think the Tibetan wealth vase is a holy object, so I don't think u can anyhow put the 4D ticket inside. And from what I read (not sure if I interpreted correctly) is that once the wealth vase is sealed (consecration or something like that), cannot open the vase! So if u put ur 4D ticket inside, it's a lost cause already
  14. I'm also very interested to find out about this. I was told by some landlords that we could break down our gross rent into the following in the Tenancy Agreement (TA) so as to save on taxes: a) Rent of premises (flat/room) b) Maintenance (aircon servicing, washing machine repairs, etc) c) Rent of furnitures d) Fittings - I still have no idea what this is. Is it appliances?? e.g. fan, etc So where does PUB bill come under?? And does stipulating all these explicitly under the TA really help in saving on taxes on rental fees? Or how does it work? Any experts in this?? Many thanks in advance!
  15. Actually some of the Singaporeans who have tibetan wealth vases would have such a mini safe box. They would lock up the wealth vase inside the mini safe box which is placed high on the upper shelves inside the cupboard. Supposed to make the practisioner rich in all aspects (spiritually, financially, etc). Mmmm... actually I don't have much to keep inside that safe also, maybe I'll also consider getting the mini version that u have.
  16. I think one of the TCS actress whose really well-known for her fattish figure with a chubby, cute face, had consulted him before. It was in the chinese news papers where he advertised with this actress featured in a photo with him. She claimed that her luck improved after consulting him.
  17. This is old news. Those counterfeit currencies in Singapore had been making their way around for a very long period of time. The first case we heard in our neighbourhood was sometime in the beginning of last year during CNY period. A few retailers in Pasir Ris had gone through that same ordeal of being given counterfeit notes, not just $10 notes but $50 notes as well. The police were called in several times. But I think it's really tough to catch the producers & their syndicates.
  18. I'm thinking about getting a safebox also... but duno whether reliable or not $399. What if later on cannot pry open then??? liao liaoz....
  19. U should be grateful that ur wife cares about u & ur $$... I agree with her that maids r humans & r inclined to temptations too! So the owners themselves have to take the initiative not to tempt her with their valuables.
  20. Wow, I didn't have luck with their sales 10 years ago. But I love their stuff. The teakwood, workmanship r great to have at home!
  21. U can try to get them from those pasar malam stalls that sell vases, antiques & porcelain products. Otherwise, u can try to visit this tile shop that carries alot of stonewares as well, along Joo Chiat road, near Eunos MRT station & directly opposite a TCM clinic owned by a sinseh with surname Seah.
  22. Oops there's a tendency to trap dirt & dust later on. And r the kitchen cabinets sturdy with such a gap issue?
  23. Never heard of it. There r many furniture shops nowadays. For teak furnishings, I always get them from The Helping Hand, a halfway house located along serangoon road. They also do customisation too, that's if u liked anything there and if u're ok with sales proceeds going to helping these ex-prisoners.
  24. R they an independent distributor or aircon retailer or ??
