  1. Elections is around the corner... I'm excited to see how the opposition parties would fare this coming election
  2. Did you read the 3 killing stars from Tan Khoon Yong's handbook? U might want to check with his staff what to do in such a situation. They should be able to advise on a goodwill basis.
  3. What is your "false" wall made of? Partition board? Hollow block?
  4. Injection into the leaking part of the ceiling is extremely expensive. I recalled that it's about $1,000/- per injection 10 years ago. And after 1 injection at say, 1 affected area, the water might move on to another part and the ceiling below would have a new water leaking location. Chances are the waterproofing has worn off below your tiles and when you bathe, the water seeps through the grooves between tiles & makes its way and start leaking down your neighbour's ceiling. I think the feasible option is to redo your flooring through HDB's appointed contractor. I was told by those who went through this similar issue, that you will be given a limited choice of tiles to chose from. Unless you buy your own tiles...
  5. I think that is a door closer that has been in the market for at least 20 years already. In the past we see it in commercial offices but found in homes also more than 10 years ago. Very commonly used to prevent doors from slamming close with a loud bang. Depending on how many degrees u need to tilt the door, can be adjusted accordingly to accomodate to the angle. Can DIY if u know how to fix on your own.
  6. U could try to contact their HQ to get them to trace for their stocks at the outlet nearest to your home.
  7. No never. But she sure has alot of time for a personal touch when most geomencers out there are generally at their busiest right now!
  8. Hi muffin, I'm not sure if he's commercialised but I've read some of his books and I think they are very well-written and credible. And doesn't encourage superstitions. Many of his thoughts are succinctly expressed in his books. The face reading book was enjoyable... although I would have preferred a more indepth description for some of the features which he touched on too briefly. From my perspective, I agree with bepgof & I also had the impression that he is a Geomencer for the modern times and has adopted more of an educational approach. Should be alot better than those counterparts here in Singapore who sells all the rocks, stones & gadgets which are used for improving FS & improving one's luck.
  9. I think this is something really antique and I don't think it's mass produced anymore during such modern times. (but I might be wrong) Assuming that u r putting up in Singapore, you might have to try to get it customised by pottery factories overseas; if I didn't recall wrongly, I think they need a mould to cast out such a ceramic frame. Some chinese temples here with beautiful intricacies such as this ceramic frame would usually get their stuff imported from overseas.
  10. U can try spotlight, joo chiat complex or tanjong katong complex. They might have shops there that sell artificial plants & flowers.
  11. I went for a GRC presentation almost 6 years ago & based on the surveys that they've done during those days, we need to have at least $150k hard cash sitting in the bank to enjoy a complete retirement. Those who don't meet the criteria will have to continue to work well into their twilight years. Now that 6 years have lapsed, I supposed that that arbituary figure must have risen now that the costs for every single thing has gone up. So while you are young, able-bodied to be gainfully employed, try to set aside as much as possible.
  12. Aiyo very "cheem" leh... The pictures of the animals from the first link resembled a Korean period drama on those mythical animal. Cannot recall the name of the drama but there are 2 sisters who were borned & 1 was supposed to be the Phoenix reincarnate who will destroy the earth or something along these lines...
  13. U could get such PC tables customised. The seat looks like a car seat or maybe something of Japanese origin.
  14. I was by some furniture shops that very few customers, especially those staying in flats would want coffee tables. Space constraint since new flats are getting smaller nowadays.
  15. to have pictures placed at the foot of the bed sounds like ... errr... those potraits of loved ones being placed infront of their casket at the funeral. I'm sorry if this sounds sinister but that was how it occured to me when I look at photos placed at the foot of the bed.
  16. My wedding photographs are placed all over the wall on the right hand side of our bed in our MBR... Maybe it's really a fengshui issue... And all individuals react differently to their environments. Maybe your wife has a relatively sensitive disposition? But nothing to be exceptionally concerned about...
  17. Since chinese new year is around the corner, the $1 bagua shaped coins can be used for decorative purposes... to make $-tree... 1 store owner placed her $1-coin $-tree at the counter & after the crowd cleared out of her shop, she was shocked that her $-tree was... GONE!
  18. I agree with RT member forgotten's comments. And the rental rate also depends on which part of Eastern Singapore. Those flats nearer towards central e.g. Kallang, Haig Road might fetch as high as $800 for just a common room. So u might end up sharing with 2 other tenants. Depends on your luck too because some landlords rent out their rooms for companionship. Best wishes & hope that u get your room soon
  19. Hi bk888, where did u position those family photos in your MBR? Please share because I'm interested to learn more. I have a friend who put many photo shots on the wall directly above their headboard and it had different effects on the wife, little daughter (2 year old) and the husband.
  20. Ven HC is a knowledgeable religious leader in his own rights because he had cooperated with the rest of the buddhist leaders worldwide in getting China to reinstate buddhism in the country. But I would think that while Ven HC is from the sangha community, it is difficult to draw a line between religion and politics on many ocassions. It has been like that in the past and until today, it's very much the same. There were many debates out there that religion shouldn't be mixed up with politics. And that religious leaders should stay out of politics. However, I think this is tall order, very difficult. Especially in the case of the Dalai Lama where he is both a monk (sangha community) and is also the legitimate leader for Tibet but living in exile. While he strives to match the expectations of a religious leader, he has to be involved in politics. And much to the China government's anger because they didn't want him trying to reclaim Tibet. The sad thing is that I think Tibet is likely to be a lost cause as there is no way that the China government would return the country to him & his people.
  21. Help! Does anybody have any idea if there are any authorised Avon dealers here in Singapore? Been looking for a reliable one here for quite some time. Seems to have none.
  22. But where did those rumours come from? Human minds do evolve and perspectives change over time though... I've got an inlaw's cousin who was once mad about fengshui but after he went thru setbacks when Geomency cures failed at one time, he abandoned his faith in fengshui and is now declaring that fengshui is an utter scam.
  23. Nowadays renovation costs a huge bomb unlike in the past, like about 10 yrs ago where u could get decent quality & workmanship with just $30k. This is the current trend that's here to stay & applies to literally everything from appliances to metal gates, clothes too. *sigh* If you could stretch your purse strings, you could try out Whitespace Living (for HDB flats) or her sister company, Substance Living for condos/ private homes. But if u've got a budget on a shoestring, you could try Jeffrey from Acton Design (located at City Plaza). I saw Jotan's RT blog photos on their reno, looks pleasant & relatively lower in pricing too.
  24. I think his rates should be quite pricey since he isn't based here in Singapore permanently. When u engage services that are not conducted in your home country, it's bound to cost more. Clients might probabbly be paying for transport, accomodation, etc in addition to consultation fees. If interested, can call up their office in Malaysia to check it out.
