  1. By the way, would u be getting them blessed? Or simply install it straight off at your balcony?
  2. Wow $160 is a good buy given the fact that the mason ("shi-fu") had to put in extra hours to get them ready. Very "swee" pair of lions... best wishes
  3. If there's no intention to sell off the flat and move elsewhere, can ask press to come up to take photographs and do a write-up in the newspapers. My brother inlaw & his neighbours had been complaining about another new neighbour staying on the other end of their level. Apparently, that neighbour uses the recess area on their side to air her sarongs, saris, underwear, store huge stacks of newspapers, toys for her children. Packets of bryani & curries r found at the staircases. When we visited, the walkway & corridoor reeked of stale food. Complaints were lodged with town council. No use. The latest news is that all her sarongs and saris were stolen
  4. hey hey hey folks Thanks for introducing this place to me! I've been cracking my head because I had many pairs of shoes (about 80 over pairs) and would like to have as much storage space as possible; and ideally, a mirrored wall stretching across 1.8 m in the living room. But I was just wondering if anybody know if their shoe racks are expensive as I would require quite a number to fit a wall that's 220 cm wide. And can I store my shoes in shoe boxes? Ikea's concept doesn't allow us to store our shoes in boxes. We've got to hang onto their designated hooks found inside the shoe cabinets. Waste of space. No good.
  5. Wow this is getting very interesting! I tried to enlarge the photos but I still couldn't figure out the intricacies of the lions. Cannot run away? Does that mean that 1 is a female & the other a male? The lion outside seem to be holding onto a ball, so presumably a male. So I presume that his wife is placed on the interior. Poor fellows. with the wife imprisoned on the other side of the glass panel! But when it's said to "run" away, I didn't quite understand the rationale because temples would generally have a pair of lions guarding their grounds but no such formation. Maybe the fengshui for the office is such that the guardian angels "gui-ren" would take off? I.e. no staying power.
  6. Hi forgotten, but those poor plants are innocent! *sob* Back to the crux of this thread, town councils had taken a very serious view & would take action against residents who clatter the emergency staircase with their belongings. Over at our place, they issued warnings to residents to clear their belongings by a stipulated date. Afterwhich, they will remove & discard those stuff blocking the emergency staircase. The ground floor neighbour rented out his flat to a new group of tenants and now, the walkway is flanked by huge plants on both sides. A "forest". Most of us need to walk sideways like a crab to avoid getting "pricked" by their plants.
  7. Wow your stone lions look really impressive! I liked the aggressive looks in their eyes, very "siong" And the gadgets they are holding onto looks great too. Such intricacies so beautifully crafted. 1 male & 1 female with a baby lion... Is this shop located in M'sia? U must have paid alot for it!
  8. Hi Rain Rain, I had the idea that the fengshui audit wouldn't be conducted by you long zi personally & would probabbly be done by his "shi-siong". That was what I was told by some of my neighbours who consulted his company on fengshui services about 10 years ago.
  9. Hi mae29, I have the same issue with my flat on facing becox unlike some of the units at my place, the direction with most windows (in the living room) and the main door are perpendicular to each other. Some units are very straight forward becox their door and row of windows are located on the same section of the flat's wall. So until today, I'm still wondering if my flat's facing is north east or north west?? I forgot to ask my taiwanese geomencer. Would remember to ask him & also challenge both views to obtain a clearer perspective.
  10. If he has a commercial office and/or a retail store selling such gadgets then yes, it's highly likely that he'll get you to purchase items from him.
  11. Hi everyone, thanks for your advice & opinion makes me laugh at how the poo-poo & urine would be littered all over the WC ... hahahaha but I would be most happy if the rest of you have other inputs about WC
  12. Hi mae29, what if the tree is across the road? About 9 feet away from the entrance? Any guidelines on the distance b/w entrance & the tree for such a formation to be harmful (to its owners)? My uncle who used to be staying in Bukit Timah had a bungalow that was facing a huge giant tree. But that giant tree was across a narrow road (infront of the fence for the bungalow across my uncle's). The house was so big that the TV had to be installed in a home theatre. His business wasn't affected but my aunt started falling sick after staying for 1 year. She had been sickly for the next 2 years but the doctors couldn't detect what was wrong with her. Until the disease was full blown. Parkinson disease. Tube-feeding through the navel and she is unable to express herself anymore. The bungalow was too huge for the 2 of them so my uncle sold it and bought another piece of land around Serangoon Gardens & built a terrace. But the ID/ architect gave them those stairs which are "exposed" with gaps beneath.
  13. Wow, It sounds really bad! My friend got retrenched repeatedly and his wife is down on cancer after being sickly for a very long time. Poor chap. I think potential buyers would be turned off just by seeing that tree blocking the entrance to the flat. In the hokkien lingo, I feel "boey song" (not happy) after seeing the tree infront of any entrance. It's as if there is something "blocking" the way and Qi. I even read somewhere that large trees are hiding places for spirits because of the strong YIN energy that they have. Perhaps I'll ask my friend to appeal to MP to see if they could chop off the tree. But chances are very slim. The MP & NEA would probabbly say that trees are there to provide shade.
  14. Saw a huge tree blocking the entrance in the old photograph! It looks odd and no good to me. Hey Mae29, what happens if a friend's main door to HDB has a huge tree blocking it? He cannot chop off the tree because it belongs to the NEA.
  15. Yes initially, I wanted to get Maclaire. But I found out that their WC is made in China. That common toilet with this new WC is going to be used by both visitors and tenants. If they squat on top of the WC, we are concerned that the WC will crack. And even if we tell them that they are not supposed to squat on top of the WC, there is no stopping them from doing so when the doors are closed. Any idea if Maclaire's WC could withstand squatting even though it's made in China? Moreover, if the Geberit flushing mechanism needs replacement through wear and tear over time, replacement would cost probabbly cost more than $100. A friend of ours replaced hers at $150. Johnson Suisse WC is made in Malaysia. Rigel's is made in their own China factory and the sales rep told me that the flushing mechanism could be easily replaced by generic ones in hardware shop, so I thought that it's an average mechanism "so-so"... $200 a piece but self collection.
  16. Hi folks, any idea where I could purchase this brand of toilet bowls here in Singapore? http://www.inno.com.my/product.php?id_product=119 It's definitely found in Singapore becox their WC (water closets) are tested by Tuv-Sud (PSB) in Singapore and met PUB's requirements. I tried to check with Singapore Sanitary Importers & Exporters Association but this entity's contact number has been given up.
  17. Hi folks, I've narrowed down to 3 brands of WC (water closets aka toilet bowls): a) Maclaire b) Johnson Suisse c) Rigel Any idea which one would last longer? For replacement of my 15-yr old Potex toilet bowl which is supplied by HDB.
  18. There is a Taoist temple located next to White Horse Ceramic Tiles' showroom along the road that runs up to Joo Chiat complex. The temple shows 2 ferocious stone creatures guarding it. Is that Qi-lin or Pixiu? They look really scary and fierce. Does anybody know the difference between stone lions or stone Qi-lin guarding temples?
  19. hehehe that was really funny when M'sia is equated to a crab! I think the fengshui masters in Singapore & M'sia are sparring & defending their own country. Shows how patriotic fengshui masters are! But do all of u think that Singapore would merge with M'sia one of these days? Things would definitely get complicated over here in Singapore if this happens...
  20. Hi muffin, I like your answer on the stone lion's position becox it made me laugh Can almost imagine the 2 mini lions asking each other things like "eh, did u meet your KPI today?" and the other responding with "did u manage to 'chio' enough customers?" hehehe... And what dizyweds said is true too becox of the space constraints with such layout. Hey I just noticed that the 2 stone lions are positioned such that they are looking away from each other. With a visual field that's pivoted at the point where the door swing opens from! Looks like number 8 in chinese character with stone lions guarding it at the base on the chinese word.
  21. I was told by a retail shop selling fengshui products at tampines1 that some of their clients buy a black coloured gourd to be placed at the position where the "gui men guan" is. To minimise the size of the "gui men guan". As to how effective it is, I have no idea. But please DO NOT attempt any dangerous stunts of acquiring amulets or talisman unless you have been directed by a professional! If you are religiously inclined, u could merge both fengshui recommendations & your religious beliefs. Some geomencers who practice taoism at the spiritual level should be able to provide some form of recommendations to counter it. At the end of the day, the decision lies with you & your family as there is no right or wrong methods of dealing with the situation. But it'll never do anybody harm if you & your family any harm to practice kindness & great compassion towards the "occupant" for the room. As a buddhist, I believe that it's already suffering since it's "stuck" on earth in the common room. And since it has been staying in the room for a very long time, it will probabbly view the room as its property. So if your fengshui master attempts to "chase" it away, it wouldn't be easy to get it liberated from suffering.
  22. Yeah that was how it occured to me. Placed precariously; risk smashing on the floor with one faulty move. It's really interesting to note how one stone lion is on the outside & the other is placed behind the glass panel (interior). I wondered why it was placed in such a formation
  23. Hi noobsea, thanks for sharing your experience with us. I think the "Gui Men Guan" is probabbly in the north-east sector. My main door is facing the north-eastern direction and there is a huge hole the wall facing that same door. According to older generation folks, my flat has a very bad fengshui layout but owners will need to practice possibly, the 3rd dimension fengshui so that even after the fengshui recommendations are implemented, things will work out well. Be positive no matter what. Unless u want to do some simple reno & rent out the house, collect rent i.e. make some profit out of it. That meant that u would need to put up elsewhere like your parents' place.
  24. I just noticed that 1 of the stone lions are at a high risk of toppling over if someone accidentally knock over the flimsy legs of the wooden stand. What was facing the office? Another office entrance?
