Painting Works
edenstrauss replied to jupiter's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Hi I'm sorry to be saying this but I don't mean to contradict u. We prefer Nippon becox it lasted us longer when we used their 3-in-1 medifresh paint. Ours lasted about 8 years before the paint started turning patchy. However, what fascinated us is that there is no peeling or flaking. Our neighbours who used ICI had to get his walls repainted every 2 to 3 years even though they are using the expensive range. -
piko asked if there is any cure to his flat if the toilet is at the centre of his home. Anybody knows if there is a cure to it?

It really depends on which estates u r looking at. Over at Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Pasir Ris, there are many many flats with main doors facing NW. The same goes for flats in Punggol & Seng Kang. Hougang 900 series should also have flats with main doors facing NW but with odd layouts e.g. kitchen facing main door - don't buy that type of flat becox they call it "piercing the heart house". In fact, some of my relatives in Punggol had their main doors facing NW and the verdict is that their luck cycle isn't fantastic after they shifted into those flats. Their toilets aren't built in the centre of their homes though... So most of them are putting the blame on the NW theory proposed by the superstitious generation. If u really want a flat with main doors facing NW, u'll have to go for relatively newer flats. U should be able to get one very easily. When your master told u that the flats which u were shortlisting were strong in YIN energy, are u aware that flats with main doors facing directions which had a North in it e.g. NW, NE, etc are strong in attracting YIN energies? As such, no matter how u select your flats, so long as the mouth of the Qi comes from the Northen type of sectors, it'll be strong in YIN energies. After bepgof explained to me a couple of times about the type of winds from N & SW, I started to observe & detect that there is indeed a difference in the quality of breeze & winds coming from different directions. Those with an Northen element in it has a sort of piercing cold sensation to it; meaning that the winds could be freezing us up at the end of the year & we do not require any aircon or fans turned on. As for SW's winds, we get them from those mini windows in our bedrooms & it's as good as not having them. so cannot comment much on the SW winds. However, the eastern sector & SE winds are really good. breezy & nice. And both bedrooms are brightly lit up with natural lighting, feels good to me

UOB should know better than to sue him because fengshui beliefs & practices are deeply entrenched into the Hong-Konger's daily lifestyle & cultures. They believe in fengshui; Just look at those HK TV stars! By the way, UOB also have their own fengshui master

Hi nimm12, I was trying to google up dunlopillo's contact centre here in singapore to check if they do customisation of mattress to the size that I require & was shocked to discover that they have their own fair share of complaints on mattress quality. http://www.beds.sg/forum/showthread.php/231-Bad-Experience-with-Dunlopillo-Mattress I don't think I would consider dunlopillo becox I have a friend who is always complaining about such issues.
-
R u sure dunlopillo is that cheap? I recalled a friend paying about $5k for one & she was having problems with the mattress... four star used to be very popular in the past but I guess competition is stiff.

If the threshold for weight is an issue, there is no harm calling up the HDB technical officer for your block & requesting that he confirms as to whether there are issues or not.

During my recent fengshui audit for my flat, we whined about the fengshui imperfections of our flat and our geomencer jux told us straight off that we should buy a plot of land & build the house on our own. In response to his suggestion, we told him candidly that we cannot afford to buy our own land. So he told us since this is the case, then better don't complain so much & live with it because we cannot alter the structures of HDB flats. And talking about NW facing flats, I'm surprised that the fengshui master recommended that. NW flats could be easily bought becox many HDB flats, especially the relatively newer ones have such facing. Not that popular with the Chinese in particular.

Hi kkss_tt, I would suggest that u scout around china town area because u get to see the real stuff & judge for yourself if it's worth buying or not. After ordering a first piece of the buddha painting from this ebay seller, I ordered a second piece in a larger print because the quality for the first piece was excellent. However, I was very disappointed when the subsequent batches were a far cry from the first. Thick layers of paint were used for painting & the brush strokes tell the viewer that the skills were not up to par as compared to the artist who did the first piece that I bought. As such, I wouldn't want to recommend this seller liberally to just anybody. Unless you are prepared to overlook the quality.
-
Hi folks, I've decided to remove the identity of the seller becox the recent batches of painting which I ordered were less than satisfactory as the brush strokes & painting techniques were not as fine & professionally done. Somewhat amateurish. I'm still scouting around for a gold-tone buddha portrait... would upload again should I find it elsewhere. Or if anybody knows where I could find it, please PM me. thanks alot!

Eczema might be an indication that your body doesn't retain fluids well. A lack of "Yin" fluids based on TCM's approach.

A foyer might narrow down the size of a living room visually. Some flat owners would purposely tear down the foyer to enlarge the living room so that the flat looks larger & brighter becox light could penetrate into the living room freely as there are no blockages. It really depends on the flat owner's comfort level.

I spoke to the manufacturer but they discouraged me from getting Vono if I'm not sleeping in an airconditioned environment. They recommended me a model from Princebed which has high density foam built ontop of pocketed spring.

Changes In Cpf Minumum Sum From 1 July 2011
edenstrauss replied to therat's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
That meant that we must sell & buy another flat before we reach 55 years old, otherwise, can end up selling off the flat & $ XXX,XXX amount gets retained in the CPF account as minimum retirement sum; and only left with very little CPF funds to be used for paying off the new flat - one uncle here ended up having to cancel his sale of flat here at our place with the buyer becox he cannot afford to buy another place becox he had already reached 58 years of age. And the banks will not grant him any loans in view of his age & ability to draw any stable income. Why must the government make things so tough for the average working class singaporean? By the time we folks reach our retirement age, there are chances that we have to stay along the streets after selling our flat So want to shift mux make sure we shift before 55 years of age ... unless we are cash rich folks who can afford to top up with cash. But unfortunately, I'm not leh. -
Hi navik, I thought that so long as you have a shower head, it'll have a rain shower system becox it's like rain water pouring down when the tap is turned on. And that the system would depend on the shower head. I wouldn't recommend the doughnut shower head. rain shower from the centre region is missing & when I washed my hair, the crown area doesn't get washed properly... I have to either move my head around the shower head or manually hold the shower head & aim it at the area that I would want to have it washed. Nice design but not practical.

Yes I must admit that the quality & workmanship looks beautiful when I saw this mattress on display (on top of a bedframe) at Poh Wai Furniture & Construction at Tampines Street 81. The fabric looks really beautiful like the Davinci style. It felt really firm & comfortable when I sat on the mattress. However, it's a pity that it is topped with latex and promotes heat.

Led Lights From Citilights @ Jalan Besar
edenstrauss replied to edenstrauss's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Yes, both outlets are authorised dealers of OptiLED lights. But I felt that the location for his lighting shop is not as good as the rest which are located directly across, and near the multi-storey food court. Julian might be the boss but he is very very humble, never throw his weight & is such a nice person to deal with. -

Do u have any photos of the lightings that u bought from CITILIGHTS to be shared? Can share? Mine looks like a haunted house becox it's very run down... all touch-ups have to be postponed for our flat right now becox the unit above us is doing the reno & there were ceiling leakages Luckily we haven't installed any complicated stuff yet, otherwise, they'll be damaged for sure. I'll be uploading photos of what we are interested in from his shop when I collect my 2nd piece of OptiLED "ping pong" bulb from him. -
Hi, thanks for recommending but I have already bought OptiLED's 2-watt "ping pong" bulb, for $38 from CITILIGHTS LLP & doing well by it as it serves well for my fengshui requirements
-
Hi folks, After buying the OptiLED "ping pong" bulb" & installing it recently, I've finally created a new thread on my review for LED lights from CITILIGHTS (@ Jalan Besar). http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41131&st=0&p=642911&fromsearch=1entry642911 I have just placed another order of the "ping pong" bulb with Julian & would be uploading more photographs of some of the other items which we are interested in from CITILIGHTS.
