Sengkang Bird Droppings On Aircon Compressor/Ledge Problem
edenstrauss replied to bubu's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
hi bubu, I found a company who might be able to provide netting, not for catching or trapping those hateful birds who left lotx of bird droppings outside your windows, but for preventing those birdies from sitting where they used to sit & purge out their waste. check out the contact number here in my thread: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40717&view=findpost&p=648836 -
Hi folks, the netting used for preventing pigeons or birds from perching wherever they have been doing so is from the following company: Mastermark Pte Ltd tel: 6-741-6880 Those who are interested or would like to recommend this to town councils could call them up. In fact, this company's contact number was given by a MP when residents complained about severe bird droppings. But isn't this MP supposed to pass this contact to his town council to get these nettings implemented? His Tai-Chi skills must be number 1 then...

I'm supposed to be K-PO & go down to seek their permission in taking photographs of their shop & artwork & uploading them here in this thread... jux cannot find time recently.

Hi all folks out there who love love love artistic pieces of the buddha, I spotted this shop located along serangoon road. It's nearby Kovan and I sell several artistic paintings of the buddha, including 3-dimensional murals framed up in gold. Pretty artistic. But I forgot to note down the name of the shop. Maybe I'll hop by again next week when I have the time

I do not know if that's the same painting becox from the photos, u cannot really tell much about the paint quality from the brush strokes. and that version that u saw on ebay has a greenish tinge to it right? I've ever asked the seller if it's the lighting effect of part of the canvas painting, no answers given to that...

$50 only & last piece.

u r most welcome! if u got the time, go down to lucky chinatown, 2nd floor. there is one newly opened shop right at the end of the mall leading to the bridge (connecting chinatown to people park's centre) selling very nice canvas painting which I think r value for $$.
-
thanks for the info but did u buy anything from the exhibition? including the painting?
-
u r most welcome! did u visit the furniture & home exhibition @ singapore expo? It's in their flyers that they sell paintings & one of the artistic buddha paintings was featured in there! If I can find time, I'll drop by & take a look.

Hi I'm sorry I wouldn't recommend this ebay seller. Please read what happened in my earlier entry as above. U will need to tell that Mr Yong (whose a PRC national) that u wanted to look at the giantic pair of painting of the buddha's face becox those 2 with the mirroring effect were not displayed in their gallery but hidden behind some makeshift workshop at the back of their shop.

The second piece of art which I ordered from him was a letdown. The quality was different & the painting techniques was mediocre too as compared to the first piece which I bought & uploaded here on my thread. The paint was so thick & quality was nothing like the first... in fact, a far cry from the first canvas painting. The seller did tell me that the facial expression wouldn't be the same becox it's hand painted & not mass-produced by printing. Yes this is understandable but the quality of how the painting is put together - the graduation of colours, brush strokes were... very different from the first piece that I bought. I'm really very disappointed. The paint on the canvas was so thick that I felt that it was ridiculous & not done by a professional. Upon looking at it for a longer time, the artpiece looked "kiddish" & amateurish. I found this second shop which is newly opened at lucky chinatown on the 2nd floor which sells such paintings too. But it's a pity that they didn't have the gold version in stock... and they told me that I need to pay an additional $30 for freight charges if I wanted the gold version - I decided not to go for it becox I didn't want to go thru what I went thru once with the ebay seller: ordering without seeing the real thing.

Whoa $200-300 is soooooooo expensive! The newly opened shop at Lucky Chinatown sells the large versions at only $90+. Did u buy any from the shop located at New World Centre? I'm trying my luck at the singapore expo furniture fair to see if I could get any of these nice buddha paintings but I think chances are, it'll be costly becox they've got to pay rent...

ok thanks for sharing with me ! I will go down & take a look this coming week...

[photos pending permission from owner of Yi Mei Yuan]

Oops I forgot to include the address & name of this shop... here goes... 艺美苑 (Yi Mei Yuan) 211 New Bridge Road #02-11 Lucky ChinaTown Singapore 059432 Tel: 6225-2961 / 90529556 The man who attended to me is a Mr Yong and his name card shows a chinese name 杨峰. I'm very curious as to what the chinese name of their shop meant. This Mr Yong didn't try to hard sell me anything but he came across as sincere & showed me a few paintings on buddhas, including the 3 sages from the West which was on display at the front entrance of his shop aka gallery. At least, he was a very humble person who doesn't "吊起来卖" which I didn't like as a customer. He had a pair of large paintings on buddha's portrait; one has a right orientation & the other version had a left. Unfortunately, it was painted in black & white, whereas I was looking for a goldish yellowy hue version. He had proposed that he order it for me but I was really concerned over about the workmanship as I already had one bad experience through the ebay seller whom I bought my first & subsequent buddha portraits from... haiz...

Hi folks, I found a newly opened shop @ Lucky Chinatown carrying very beautifully painted drawings on canvas. And upon request, nice framing with intricacies is included too. Although I'm not an expert in judging the quality of the paints used, but the brush strokes seemed to foretell that all the artpieces are painted by artists who have relatively fine skills and that they have painted with much love & care. They have a great many variety of paintings, including artistic buddha portraits, which customers would have to request to get a view of them as there were just too many paintings to be displayed in a confined space within the shop. As such, the artistic buddha portraits are being hidden from the main gallery. I think I will obtain the owner's permission in uploading photographs of some of their art pieces, which could be used for fengshui or decorative purposes if they are required. That's if he allows it becox afterall, there are cultural differences when the owner isn't a Singaporean

White Space Living
edenstrauss replied to leosmk's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Hi Icy, did u engage White Space Living to renovate your home? It is true that they aren't cheap but my uncles' homes had such excellent workmanship & great service, including after-sales that we felt that it was worth the monies spent. If you have had any reno done for your home in the first place, you would have known that any IDs wouldn't be giving clients a uniform identity to their homes unless they agreed to what's proposed in the first place. And many IDs, according to a Malay friend who had a punggol flat designed the balinese style, he said that the ID firm that he uses would only do such styles with lot's of walnut coloured carpentry (real timber, not plywood with formica or laminates) being done up for their homes. If clients didn't like such concepts, then they should look for other renovators - with that being said, I supposed that it is reasonable for all ID firms to have certain forms of distinctive outlooks/ styles which differentiate them from other IDs. I'm sure all IDs in ID firms should be working within the framework of their clients' design preferences even if it meant that there are parallels in concepts & styles arising from the same ID firm. Like Pickypicky's case, please do elaborate further on what transpired during your renovation with White Space Living which ultimately led to such displeasure & adverse remarks about them. And please, do upload photographs to substantiate your claims. Afterall, the forum is a platform for sharing useful information, genuine experiences & expressing concerns; as such, it'll be good to elaborate with more explanations & photographs. p/s: the part about them using the same style of renovation if the property is built by the same property developer - would u care to elaborate more about that? That part is new... do u mean to say that u r staying in one of such condos where white space living was appointed as the main designers for ALL the units?? And would u care to share which condo or property that would be?? -

Hi Pickypicky it'll be useful for all viewers & potential customers & other RT members to learn more about your complaints pertaining to your renovation works conducted by White Space Living. Please do elaborate on your complaints about this renovator & also, substantiate with photographs of what they have done for your flat instead of simply giving them bad ratings. They have done alot of reno for the homes & offices of my uncles & those of neighbours' relatives; and it is quite difficult to imagine how they could be associated with such bad ratings. The level of service received by all these parties were nothing like what u had mentioned. Kindly elaborate on your complaints for white space living and also, include photographs to substantiate your claims. I am keen to book them for reno of my new flat in the near future... so it's vital for us to learn of any adverse remarks associated with them. -
Hi schiz0id, we were told to keep 2 spots in our flat with LED lights turned on 24 by 7. One was a wealth spot & the other is a career spot for my hubby. And we perceive these recommendations as a security feature too! Even though mine is not a corridoor unit, the interior of our flat is brightened up with a downlight effect, giving the illusion that there is always somebody at home when our flat comes to view from the ground floor units.
-
And to add on, we heard from several tenants and friends of neighbours who rented a particular unit (main door facing south-west) that the common complaint was hauntings in the kitchen & living room during wee hours of the morning. The complaints were the same stuff even though these tenants & friends didn't know one another. The current unit is bought over by a couple who were china-nationals turned SPR. They were friendly when they first shifted in, then, right now, they ignored everybody & pulled a bad face at anyone. wierd people.
-
eh but the living room area wouldn't be ventilated leh... Can create other problems when people stay in poorly ventilated flats - can cause depression. I have to tell u that over at our place, many units have their own fair share of "strange" encounters. Including those units which had a south-west door entrance. But the lifts at our block are facing the North-west direction. So according to Joey Yap's interpretation, the Qi that the residents are tapping on comes from the NW source. Like it or not, we are hearing dragging noises & stomping sounds on & off from the unit that's directly above us. Every night either at 9.30pm sharp or at about 11+. And the "best" part is that, the unit is undergoing renovation right now & the gate is chained up with a huge padlock on the exterior. The ID told us that there is nobody in the flat because there is totally no electricity, no lighting & the owners have confirmed that they only visit the flat during weekends. The noise started only during the 2nd nite after the tiles were hacked out. We always wondered how come the owners don't stay on long in the flat. Our place is only 16 years old & this current one whose renovating the flat is the 5th or 6th owner already.

Hi folks, Just look at this article & the video attached in it. I don't think that this is an isolated case. Perhaps this is happening in other nursing homes too! http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporescene/elderly-woman-mistreated-nursing-home-174803277.html The poor old lady is so pitiful. To be emotionally tortured by nurses. *sigh*

If I Invite Guan Yin To My Flat Do I Have To Set A 天公炉?
edenstrauss replied to diodiola's topic in Fengshui Consultation
Do u have a balcony? If u do, then u could install your sky god's altar there.
