The photograph above features a generous spray of flower buds in bloom. However, I did notice that the flower buds wouldn't last if there is an over-watering of plants or when the soil is extremely wet every day. As such, I would gauge the amount of water to be used to water the plants based on the texture of the soil. If the soil looks very dry, I would pour in a generous amount of water. Should the soil texture come across as damp, say, after it gets its supply of rain water, I might jux use half the usual amount of water for watering the plants.

These photographs were taken on 2nd November 2011 in the late afternoon when there is minimal sunlight: A generous spray of 4 flower buds being pushed out of the red "scales" of the corn-like flower heads...

The next few posts would feature the latest photographs of my group of plants that were related to the Ginger family. And I sincerely hope that it's a great feast for any reader's eyes like how they were for mine. A newbie absorbing sunlight for photosynthesis:

What is N-P(45%)-K solution? I've never seen this before. I still use liquid fertiliser & it seems like they are growing well with new shoots. How do I know if their roots are congested?

Hi forgotten, the Mrs bepgof part was funny kekekekeke we're not ready to rent out yet ... but the thought of having such problematic tenants gives me cold turkey feeling scared that they will practice black magic leh... -
Hi buddy, everything looks good for ur flat! I love those tiles! if the renovator for the unit above refused to do anything about ur ceiling or does the minimum, u could feedback the matter to HDB & tell HDB that u r getting ur own ID to clean up the "mess". It's important that everything goes into record with the authority. depending on the TO, some of these TOs would not hesitate to suspend the renovator's license or give them demerit points for being so uncooperative. Those grayish cement with steel bards exposed are known as spalling concrete. It's very common among older flats & especially for flats with heavily renovated units above theirs & had been repeatedly renovated... those units below them are really pathetic & their owners have my greatest sympathy!

Hi buddy, thanks for paying me such a huge, beautiful compliment! and finding the time to pop by when u're at your busiest with ongoing reno Yes, these plants had such a strong therapeutic effect on us owners. And we were grateful that such a small scale gardening could bring us such great joy & happiness... Still trying to find time to do up the thread... many many more photos to get uploaded.

Hi Lauer, yes I definitely agree with u Photos speak for themselves.
-
I also wanted to add that u r lucky to have the chance to count your blessings when the leakage took place while ur reno is on-going. it'll be horrendous if it came after everything is completed at your end!
-
Hi buddy, those common areas for ceiling leakages u should keep a lookout for are: a) toilets b) kitchens c) balconies d) (possibly) any areas jux on the "outskirts" of toilets - that's possible if the unit above has not done a decent job for the waterproofing of their toilets, which was what happened to a relative of our friend. The leakage made its way over a period of 6 months across this relative's ceiling in the MBR where her built-in wardrobe. By the time she detected the leakage, it was a tragic mess As such, at the first sign of any ceiling leakage, please alert your HDB technical officer immediately. Otherwise, you might be "caught" in such an undesirable situation later on. Ur ID should know how to deal with it if he is experienced enough. He could get the uncle whose dealing with cement to knock off the "lumps" & scrap it off. After the touch-ups & painting oil-based sealer over it, followed by white paint, it should be ok. However, if any parts started to turn brownish or yellowy after that, it's a sure sign that leaking is persisting. Meaning that the fault lies with the tiling for the unit above yours. If the owners above ur unit are able to trace the root cause of the leak, and willing to rectify the problem, your ceiling leakage problem would be solved. I wouldn't suggest that u go & touch, or knock off flakes from the ceiling. Get ur ID to do it, whether he is going to do it personally or assign his worker to do it. Afterall u're paying for the reno & it's his responsibility, so please "delegate" to him. U jux supervise & make sure that he checks & does a thorough assessment of your ceiling.

Where To Buy Chinese New Year (Cny) Decor Throughout The Year?
edenstrauss replied to edenstrauss's topic in Home Deco
Hi, thanks for your generous compliment! I love sprucing up photographs with captions & decorations as it'll look more interesting. As my threads tend too wordy for some, those captioned photos would be user-friendly for the lazy-eyed. If you are interested in plants, please visit my newly created thread under the following link: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44590&st=0&p=675514&fromsearch=1entry675514 However, I've still got plenty of photographs pending upload... I'm also thinking of starting a new thread on other plant-related topics... that's if I could find time to do so. -
If this is the situation, then you'll have to chase them becox there's no other choice when you've presumably paid them the deposit. To find out whether the frame has achieved equilibrium or not, I'm not sure if you could ask your renovation contractor to use the "bubble" ruler (not sure about the technical term). That is the most accurate tool to use. Looking forward to your photos!

Hi buddy, I'm sure things would be fine... don't worry too much If your neighbours have had theirs hacked off successfully, I don't see why it wouldn't be approved in your case. It's matter of timing. You'll jux have to chase the relevant channels diligently. And with such a formidable team working under your ID, I didn't think that there is any cause for concern.

Everything in your new place looks nice to me Workmanship seems to look great! But how are u guys going to "lock" up your main door during the night?

The final stage of "flower head" withering into a brown, scaly pulp & the entire stem is to be pruned should there be no other new shoots growing from it as shown in the photograph below:

Walking in his drawers is definitely unacceptable! It's really disgusting! tsk tsk tsk! If you install a CCTV & he walks around without feeling disgraced, the landlord would have the right to report to the police & show the authorities such acts of indecency. He could get charged in court for behaving in such a manner! Hasn't he got any sense of shame? Obviously not... *sigh* Are there any females in your home? Hopefully not. And would you be able to share the nationality of your tenant & his occupation here in Singapore? -

And if none of this works, then fire the tenant since he is giving you problems. -
Tenant Doing Things When Am Not Around
edenstrauss replied to Syukur's topic in Rent/Sell Properties
If the tenant is occupying the MBR, and he does his laundry say 3 times a day, the landlord couldn't say anything. However, if the tenant is using the common bathroom for washing his laundry, the CCTV would definitely catch him bringing in dirty clothes & newly washed laundry in & out of the toilet. If you only have 1 tenant, then you might want to specify in your tenancy agreement that you will only bear up to say $ XX amount of the electrical bill in addition to your usual PUB bill prior to renting out to him/ her. Any excess would be borne on by the tenant & he is to remit payment to the landlord say, when he pays his next rental fees or on whichever date as specified in the contract.
