  1. I do not wish to make any enemies with anybody and since u r bent on defending your stance after starting off with those insinuating & tactless remarks in my thread, I will no longer be entertaining any of your comments.
  2. So what do u want from us owners of this Electrolux-Harvey Norman thread? If u do not want to end this & go on picking up a fight with me on the forum, I will be reporting u to the renotalk forum management.
  3. Please mind your language: who is the one whose harressing & stalking in sparking off this??? I didn't need to say much but viewers could see that you had started off finding trouble with our purchase with such tactlessness. If u aren't related to the people whose mentioned in this thread, then why appear so defensive & speaking up for its installers & belittling us to the extent that it was my fault & not Harvey normsn's or it's installers when what we have gone through had been so blatant for all to see??? U had refused to lay off & continued on. I m sure I need not say much but readers for this thread could see for themselves whose the stalker & the possible identity of this stalker here in this thread. So if u think u could win a case like that here in singapore in going to court & receive tonnes of $, then go ahead & good luck to u!
  4. Like what I have requested of u in a civilized statement, please refrain from stirring up trouble in our threads. We do not have the time & effort to deal with further trouble coming from blunt forumers like yourself who jump to blind conclusions without reading up the full story & who is likely to be related to those installers or HN staff mentioned in this thread. As such, we would greatly appreciate it if you could jux rest your case & stop making it worse for us as consumers who made an effort to share our poor experiences. If you r indeed related to any of the parties (electrolux, harvey norman staff, their installer & the installer for our hood) as mentioned in this thread, and think that this is a feasible method to seek redress for your friend's grievances, and should we ultimately incur any harassment at our home or in person after this Electrolux episode, we will not spare any efforts in reporting you & the rest to the police. Please take note on that.
  5. The photo of the disclosured box belonged to the first set. The second set had no discoloration on the box. And like what I have suggested, those discolourations were not easily seen & looked faint when the item was lying in the box becox the brushed stainless steel finishing was strong in reflecting light... The hood was extremely heavy. We require 2 persons to bring it out & even then, they were already panting hard from the bulky weight. After installation, those spots became alot more obvious but what shocked us was those spots multiplied over a few days after installation & we had jux used it for cooking up a simple meal about a couple of days after, whipping up a plate of fried caixin vegetables & fried scrambled eggs on the nonstick pan. We are not implying that all Electrolux products are bad. Electrolux products came a long way & it was a Swedish brand( like Ikea) who made it big with their vacuum cleaners which we had to admit were good. We had 1 which is still serving us well in its 11th year in our home. But it's a great pity that our Electrolux experience with their supposedly powerful chimney hood had to turn out this way. I m sure nobody in their right frame of mind would go & bad mouth any brands or shops for no rhyme or reason. It is not our idea to hurt the ELectrolux brand name with this thread. We were taking steps to share our objective experiences as a consumer with photos as evidence to substantiate our claims, which is sadly still lacking in forums. And if u aren't aware of it, it's very time consuming for us to edit photos, collect our thoughts about how we were going to express our stressful experience in the forum. To sum it up, it was emotionally draining for us to write such a detailed adverse feedback online & publish it for all to see. There is a lot of negativity involved & we hope that this will be the first & last detailed reporting we will be writing for bad shopping experiences. We prefer giving glowing reports as it promotes satisfaction & happiness for all parties who t involved. If u checked out my other threads, we have had breezy experiences with other contractors becox we did our home work, reference checks before we engaged people or their services. However, we were jinxed on this Electrolux purchase becox what worked so well previously didn't apply for this one purchase.
  6. I provide tips for good performance, not for jumping queues or getting earlier appointments. It is not our family practice to use money to throw at people to get things done our way. Moreover, my appliance was bought with cash, it isn't thrown in free. And installation isn't free & don't come cheap. Are you by any chance related to those installers that I have mentioned or Harvey Norman or Electrolux? Or perhaps the family member of anyone of those mediocre Harvey Norman staff whose mentioned in this thread? We had never encountered such a bad experience with purchases for the past 15 years & if we were to encounter any trouble at home as a result of harassment & prankster, we will definitely be reporting this matter to the police & u will also be looped in for sure. Our purpose of publishing this thread is to share our objective experience in buying this Electrolux chimney hood, and is never a fault finding session. So if u are here to stir up trouble, we will greatly appreciate it if you could bring your ill intentions elsewhere.
  7. Thank you for trying to be sympathetic. However, please refrain from using expletives on the forum becox u risk getting your account suspended. This is a civilized society so please be mindful of how u express your thoughts in the public. And if u read carefully, it was never my fault that I didn't check the product. And I was never rude to contractors nor did i treat them as slaves or animals so please read through the contents thoroughly before jumping the gun. Everybody in our family were brought up to be punctual & believes in keeping to our appointments. We do not believe in bribing people to jump the queue as it is not fair for other customers who had already made their bookings before us. There must be some form of civility in our society here in Singapore. I conducted an in-depth research on cooker hoods to make an informed decision of what to buy becox I m not one of those ignorant consumers who buy things blindly but like what I have mentioned, my purchase was untimely & I ended up with an appliance that had aesthetic issues. This was something that was unforeseen. As such, I would greatly appreciate it if you do not rub it in without reading through the full story that was published in this thread. Thank you.
  8. I wouldn't recommend sandblast door which used to be "fashionable" a long time ago. Out of ignorance as consumers, we chose sandblasted sliding doors for both toilets & ended up with deep regrets. The maintenance was a real nightmare. If any oil based products or hair gel or whatever chemicals got onto the side that is coated with sand, then it's probabbly a lost cause. U will have to live with it becox there is very little u could do to make aesthetic improvements on the door. There will be patchy stains all over. And since the door would be getting wet very often, I believe that those water marks would show up. We should have gone for a PVC panel instead of sandblasted glass doors. Sandblasted doors are also not for those with pets roaming at home. I need not elaborate further becox u could imagine what's going to happen...
  9. I am still hoping that Electrolux could improve on their quality becox it's such a pity that the brand here in Singapore is backed by a professional team of staff but only to be 'handicapped' by poor quality of their appliances which is their core business. Their stakeholders in this equation, such as dealers like Harvey Norman are going to suffer alongside when customers return with repeated complaints. And of course, none of these affected parties would want or expect things to turn out this way. While I could definitely understand that our Singapore market constitutes a really small percentage of the total (worldwide) sales & is likely to be perceived as "a drop of water in the vast ocean", I had the idea that if this continues worldwide, it's going to hurt Electrolux's global branding on the long run. It's really sad to see a reputable branding go down with the rest of the majority who had their quality compromised when all their products are badly manufactured In China. And like it or not, almost everything including branded products are made in China nowadays. Perhaps they should work around such quality issues by imposing stringent QC on the manufacturing arm in China.
  10. Hi thanks for reading & commenting on my thread. But I must admit that the staff from Electrolux are pretty good & professional. However, their stainless steel finishing for the hood they sent me was an utter fiasco for discerning consumers with high expectations like myself. I simply found it unacceptable to pay a brand premium to get an appliance that is of substandard quality. And as such, my unhappiness was initially targeted at the appliance (not the parties involved in transaction) becox it wasn't cheap by our local standards. Then finally, my anger started to build up when Harvey Norman made it worse becox the sales rep who sold me the appliance gave me the impression that she doesn't want any involvement & their buyer didn't really do much to pacify me when I was caught in this undesirable situation. I must reiterate that the buyer wasn't rude but she did nothing to assure a client when she told me indirectly that I didn't need to make my soon-to-be laptop purchases from HN becox I could buy it elsewhere. That made me feel upset. So when there was a further delay in receiving my replacement carbon filter, I came down real hard on both Electrolux & Harvey Norman as I didn't feel that my complaint had been taken seriously at all. I sought for immediate attention through the Managing Director of HN. By the time my call reached that channel, I was already on the verge of calling in the press & related this to HN becox I would not allow either party involved in this unsatisfactory transaction to walk over me without solving the trouble I m facing with the hood. However, as I reflected on the series of events that took place in this unhappy episode, it might not have blown out of proportion if HN had taken a more responsible approach & exhibited greater sensitivity in handling such situations with care.
  11. When u compare both pieces of grease filters after polishing, u could detect a remarkable difference in the quality.
  12. I had made the observation that the only piece of grease filter which was in tiptop condition since delivery was laminated with a white, opaque strip of plastic at one of the rims on the reverse side. The other 2 "faulty" pieces have none of these laminated protective sheets...
  13. Electrolux had sent an technician down to our kitchen for an onsite inspection of the chimney hood. After the technician tried his very best to polish the hood, the stains remained. And what was really obvious is that those severely discoloured grease filters (2 out of 3) were aging very fast. Please take a look @ the photographs of one of the grease filters which came to us in a badly discoloured condition & its apparent appearance on 20th Feb 2012 after polishing: The appearance of the same piece of grease filter when delivered to us (exchange set) on 17th January 2012: And this piece of grease filter wasn't even placed directly above a chinese wok when we were cooking. To date, I had only cooked 5 times, 3 of which I had been deepfrying. I can imagine that it wouldn't take a lot longer to see the rust spots appearing all over the "faulty" pieces of grease filters.
  14. The spotless yellow ladybird perching precariously at the rim of the leaf. This one does look alot smaller than the first which looked alot larger in my first photograph uploaded in my earlier posts...
  15. While I was watering my plants recently, I came across another 3 ladybirds loitering around my plants... By the time I fetched my camera, the other 2 were no longer in sight & the other chap has flown towards another plant in the same pot. However, I have managed to take some photographs of it before it flew off to another location.

  17. Hi des, please check your renotalk mailbox. I have pm u ah cheong's contacts & would close off the thread within 2 days but u will still be able to see his contact number. However should u require further clarifications, please feel free to Pm me directly. Best wishes.
  18. I didn't mean to be rude in contradicting u. There is no such thing as perfect spousal compatibility. Everybody will aspire to marry someone who will provide synergy to his/ her matrimonial relationship but before we even talk about a spouse bringing good luck to another, it isn't nice to be kicking at someone & implying that he/ she is a jinx to one's life partner. Before a person can even think about marrying someone who will bring good luck to oneself, he/ she will have to learn how to exhibit kindness towards the other even when things aren't turning out well after tying the knot. That's a part & parcel of married life. U will know what I meant by that if u r happily married to a person u love & not "married" to superstitions...
  19. But I dont recall seeing any photos uploaded in this thread... Was hoping to see some. The thought of having to deal with a crude & vulgar boss is enough to deter anyone from Engaging them.
  20. Hey nice to hear from u again Yes Electrolux is well known for their vacuum cleaners. I had one that was a mint green which we bought from safe superstore 10 years ago & it's still serving us well. The only drawback I had with it was it is really bulky I m so sorry but I didn't realize that rinnai's hob is expensive. $300 for a job is a steal in my opinion. Good buy but you've got to be careful not to drop your pots, pans or dishes on the hob! I think I know which model u r referring to. Is it efc9555X ? Airflow 1000 mah. It looks really cool! I liked it but we went for the one with the highest airflow 1400 mah. Becox I'll have a good excuse to deep fry several times a week. In fact I have been deepfrying almost every other day. But I did notice that when the oil splutters out of the formidable chinese wok, still need to clean up & mop floor...
  21. I m not sure but did you try Chinatown? There r many china merchants peddling their wares in shops. U might want to try there or even ask them. They might be able to direct you to the right shop.
  22. After consulting the owner for the following website (Everything on Ladybug), he had kindly advised me that this particular breed of ladybird is known as illeis koebelei. http://www.everything-ladybug.com/ladybug-pest-control.html This breed of spotless yellow ladybird is a plant-friendly insect that thrives on cleaning up mildew & fungus attacking plants. As such, we were more than happy to have it become a permanent resident of our plants. However, we don't see it nowadays. We are hoping to see it coming back to our plants & welcomes it making our plants its home & where possible, breeding there. I recalled seeing this strange looking chap crawling around my plants a month ago... it moved really fast & I had made several attempts to catch hold of it but was unsuccessful. Now I realised that it might be the larvae or baby of the spotless yellow ladybird. Disclaimer: I do not own the photograph of the larvae for the illeis koebelei uploaded as above. Kindly give the photo credits to the owner of the following website: http://gaga.biodiv.tw/new23/s7-26.htm . Thank you.

  24. Hi you could obtain the rack from Giant (tampines) becox they had quite a variety of very sturdy heavy duty metal ones which are powder coated in dark gray. alternatively, you could check with home-fix stores if they sell melamine boards & fix them up yourself. I recalled seeing them selling such stuff at the branch located at basement of tampines1.
