  1. Wah bro, your reply is always fast and furious hee... Problem here is the contractor is "kaki lang" so it's going to be a little embarassing for both parties if this incident gets out of hand. I spoke to the kitchen cabinet sub-contractor and he said that he could cover the cement/concrete base with wood to cover up... Any cons with that? Cheers
  2. Hi Bro, Sorry to sound like a broken record but... I'm interested to install a ceiling fans so can I have their contact too? Also, do they have a showroom as well so I can drop by to see the models? Thanks!
  3. May I know where and how much did you get the vanity cabinet that is below the sink from? Your flat's renovated new looks even better than private condo's interior... Respect!
  4. The pics I promised a week ago... Here's the guy doing the plastering... These are pics of the waterproofing for kitchen and for the shower room, it was done up to the wall till 1.8m in height...
  5. Wah... very ah tas blind seh... haha I think they really look great, now you make me wonder if I should still re-use the roller blinds that my ex-owner left behind... Original intent was to get someone to clean them up and re-use... Sorry to hear about your solid top... Was it a Corian or LG Hi-Mac top? Waiting impatiently for your after-reno pics Slightly late but hope you and Neubie bro had a merry xmas
  6. Toilet Shower room Still have to get the toilet accessories such as the taps, vanity sinks, cabinets, towel hangers, soap, cup holder, water heater & etc... Night mare...
  7. Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates... Have been scrambling around to get the needed reno items, furnitures and mattress... Thanks dex for the kind comments hee... I really hope I can look back at my reno with joy like you do yours... Tiling for toilet and kitchen and plastering for the whole house seemed to be completed for the time being... I think there was some mis-comm with my contractor for the kitchen cabinet... He did the old-school cement with tile style for me... Haiz... Not sure how to rectify it... Here are some pics... Finally started on electric wiring today and air-con tomorrow... Did anyone of you guys requested for the BCA license from the installers when you're installing the steel bracket?
  8. I see, paiseh haha I guess I'm too used to embedding the thumbnails instead... Would you recommend that I change the pipes if the pipes are already changed to PVC by previous owner? Haven't went back since last Sat... They were water-proofing the toilet floor and wall as well as the frame for the kitchen cabinet... Kitchen cabinet frame Will post the waterproofing pictures later tonight...
  9. Hmm... I just used the link imageshack gives for forum usage. Is the layout very bad for your screen? $800 just to change 2 pipes ah... I heard need to apply permit from HDB also? Thanks for the advice, will try to keep that in mind
  10. Anyone changed their main water pipes on the top left hand corner during renovation?
  11. Spent 1.25k in total for my sink, kitchen tap, Fujioh cooking hob and Ellane chimney hood... 1k+ just for the cooking hob and hood alone... I think I over-spent a lot here -_-;
  12. Just got back from overseas... Lost track of things that had been done for the renovation during the days I'm away... Some updates... Grills taken off... Walls plastered... Cornices hacked off... Only electric cables left in the house... Door hacked for MBR to Shower room... Half of the wall between Shower room and Toilet hacked away
  13. Thanks for asking not a very exciting week as I'm waiting for hacking approval from hdb... Hacking can only start net week and I'll be on biz trip for the entire week next week so might not have much updates till mid dec here...
  14. 1 whole lot of sand for mixing... Had to laugh at the irony that I was just posting on Dex's blog in regards to his "elderly encounters" just few days ago. Today, on just the third day of my "open house", an elderly couple from supposedly nearby, popped in while the door is opened to 走马看花 in my apartment while I was busy talking to my contractor so was too busy to take any pictures of them. They also shot me a couple of questions while they view the flat... I'll be counting how many subsequent ones are going to pop by~
  15. On the third day of renovation, my contractor gave to me... 3 stacks of tiles 2 piles of cement
  16. Wow, very nice, looks like kitchen for showroom apartments, spacious and clean
  17. Glad to see everything is going along so smoothly and fast now. I'm hanging tight here
  18. Have been following your blog for a while although I didn't post... Sorry to hear what've happened... My sympathies... I hope you'll find some recourse with the incorrigible ID after your grandma's wake...
  19. Will update when I talk to my contractor again, please do update me as well in regards to your situation too kay I did drop by his thread before actually and saw that he had the pipes re-routed nicely. That's where I had the idea that the pipes can actually be re-routed and was shocked when my contractor told me otherwise. However, it appears only his contractor is the one responsible for it so Goobi has actually said to call his contractor instead... A bit paiseh to call his contractor to ask about such things haha...
  20. Started the renovation by doing away with the kitchen cabinet and the wardrobe in the MBR. Kitchen Cabinet - Before Kitchen Cabinet - After Wardrobe - Before Wardrobe - After Couple of these vermins and its eggsack scattered around the kitchen area after cabinet hacking...
  21. Ah... I see... The problem with my wall as you can see is that there's no beam for me to flush the trunking to... so it'll just look like one long box across my wall Also, I realized that your trunking goes through the wall to the compressor straight instead of being re-routed to the bathroom and then out through the bathroom wall to the compressor? Lastly, how do you find Aaron's service btw? Cheers!
  22. Hi yeo, looks like your renovation is coming along nicely. I'm using floor option as well so am glad to hear that you are saying good things about floor option Looking forward to my laminates as well hee... Had problems choosing between Robina and Pergo as well previously when I was in their office. May I know if you're using laminate or pvc trimmings for the joint? Cheers
  23. Finally got my keys today and went to select tiles for the kitchen, toilets and utility room. This will be the tile for my kitchen and utility room floor This will be the tile for my kitchen wall Lastly, the tiles we selected for our shower room and toilet The laminate and skirting we've chosen earlier for comparison
  24. Bro, I want to check with you on the air con trunking. From the common bedroom to the master bedroom, how did you get your air contractor to route it to the toilet? I had a talk with my contractor earlier. It seems that I will have some issues with my aircon trunking. As seen in this picture, I'll be shifting the position of the aircon to the red box My contractor tells me that it's not possible to run the aircon trunking through the main beam (where the red arrow is) So I have to follow the current aircon trunking which is pointed out with the black arrows. In this picture, it seems that HDB regulations no longer allow the pipe to go through the wall directly to the compressor. As such, I have to re-route the piping along the yellow box and through the toilet before it gets back to the compressor. I would like to know, did you managed to run the trunking through the main beam and have it run along the top of the ceiling instead of along the skirting on the floor? Thanks!
