  1. I was thinking the exact same thing! (and that's rare)
  2. Jason, thank you very much for your very very many value-added services.. And your memory is fantastic. You remember every single thing we discussed
  3. Why does Section 28 and 28C of the Moneylenders Act only cover unlicensed moneylenders? Does it mean that if you are a licensed moneylender, you are allowed to contravene Section 28 Subsection 1 Para (a), Subsection 3(A) Para (a), Subsection 3(B) and Subsection 5 Para (b)?? Then by all means, Mr. Ah Long San, please register yourself as a licensed moneylender!

  5. Thanks fencer and bangbang.. We lodged another police report today. Dropped by the place for abit this morning, but saw YET ANOTHER letter of demand pasted on the wall outside. Went to the nearby police post but got the typical civil servant response, i.e., say their agency cannot do anything and push the responsibility to another agency. So far, we have experienced: SPF push to ICA, ICA push back to SPF, SPF push back to ICA, then SPF also pushed to Town Council, ACRA, MAS, then finally, push back to US and say that WE can lodge a magistrate's complaint or file a civil lawsuit against both Eurohub and Reuel Samson Gellido. Come on lah. The loan amount is $1,500 nia. My lawyers' fees will definitely exceed that, so if I were prepared to fork out that sum, why not just pay off Eurohub??? Sidetrack: why didn't i take up law in school?? But have to say that this 2nd time lodging a report, the police handled everything better. They even tried to help us call Eurohub on the spot. The last time I went down alone, they intentionally included a line saying "I am lodging this report for my own action", which basically absolved them of any follow-up action. This time (maybe because Hubby was there to scold them), they finally are going to do some investigation and follow-up. Hoping for the best *cross fingers* Meet-the-People session, anybody (esp jeffcraze)? We really need to raise the govt's awareness of such things happening at the grassroots level.
  6. Thanks fencer, i think we shall do just that! I really don't see the point in Eurohub insisting on pasting those notices outside our flat cos we're obviously not going to pay up and we have already made it crystal clear that the guy they're after has moved out nearly 2 years ago. If they're looking to shame us, I don't think it's working because it's quite obvious to our neighbours that my husband is not Reuel Samson Gellido right?
  7. Sui!!!! I love my kitchen!!! Will drop by the house this weekend! Btw, I think there's a diva celebrity who only eats blue m&ms too.. Either Mariah or Britney haha.
  8. Haha X-box is a really good one! But i just want a normal home please.. Just a normal rectangular L-box.. Jaskel tolong don't give Hubby anymore such ideas haha "Little blue pills"??????????? Anyway Hubby and I have started scouting for lightings.. Think we shall buy from A Lightings Enterprise along Geylang Road.. Got good reviews plus the service is quite good. They even offered to help us source for lightings in the designs we wanted - just need to show them a picture! And i think they are slightly cheaper than lightings.com.sg.
  9. Yup yup I think each shopping experience is unique in terms of the dynamics that take place between the parties, so definitely the experience would be unique too, like whether you "click" with salesperson or not And different peeps have different price expectations too, so a perfect place for some may not be perfect for another! Ultimately we got our barang from GR Link and Poh Seng in Jalan Besar, and Living Phenomenon Pte Ltd (L + Pheno) in Balestier. Spent the whole day shopping Love the waterfall tap too! And yes it's gonna be in the MBR toilet. Jason said that one must be designer bowl and tap. Initially L + Pheno quoted us $200 for it, but Jason eventually managed to help us bargain down to $170. Other shops down the road were selling for $180 and even $260, so the price range there can be quite big. Scary.
  10. Hahah you don't forget Jason asked for "two-headed" abalone!!
  11. Yup thanks Jason! You did all our work for us! Hehe.
  12. Warning: Long Post Ahead. Horrible experience with Universal Union Enterprises Pte Ltd (710 Geylang Road (next to Lor 44)) Went down to Geylang one day for a look as Hubby and I are looking to furnish our 2 bathrooms and kitchen. There are many such shops in that area, so it offers variety and a chance to scout around for better deals. We started our search from Paya Lebar mrt onwards and walked towards the smaller lorongs.. First few shops were okay, but when we reached UU at 710 Geylang Road, first impression was that it was more crowded than other shops and also occupied a larger shop area, so we thought, okay, this place looks popular = maybe good service/cheap. After browsing for a couple of minutes we were approached by a friendly salesperson Steve and with his help, set our eyes on the $188 WC and basin package mentioned by Hubby a few posts ago. Pretty good deal to furnish the common bathroom. But we weren’t ready to purchase the item without our favourite contractor Jason, so we told Steve we’d drop by another day. Even managed to speak to the boss a bit, and he sounded nice and even cracked a couple of jokes too. Went home, did my homework and googled them to find that there are many good reviews about their shop and staff. Fast forward to last night when we dropped by again, ready to buy a truckload of stuff from them to try to bargain for a bulk discount. We were served by Steve again, who admittedly was quite new, so he was not very familiar with the products and prices. But that’s okay because at least he served us well, and we eventually spent 1.5 hours there picking out the WC, basin, tap and kitchen sink. Master bathroom WC at $520 was KIV-ed. And 7-pc bathroom accessories set too. Jason and Hubby managed to negotiate for a better price and was told by Steve that if we were to settle the full payment by cash or nets, he wouldn’t charge us any GST on top of the discount of $50 off the kitchen sink, with a total price of $453. So we struck a deal and proceeded to formalize the order. Steve was new so some fat lady took over to issue the final order form on the computer. Not friendly, no smile. Nevermind. Maybe s.hitty service comes hand-in-hand with good deals. But imagine our shock when the final bill she quoted us was a full $100+ more at $559.61, charging full price for the kitchen sink and inclusive of GST (and some other items Steve forgot to include) Jason asked for an explanation for the price and she gave a can’t-be-bothered look combined with an are-you-stupid tone and said that all their items were package items (when obviously only the d.amn WC set is a package) so very cheap already cannot give discount. She also got the sink price wrong because it's just $200 but she keyed in $250, and when we pointed out she just say "neh Steve wrote $250". Not "sorry I will check with Steve". Hubby had to run out and get Steve himself. All this was told to Jason's face like it's his fault for getting it "wrong". And she insisted there was no such thing as GST-free before proceeding to give Steve a dressing down right in front of us. Obviously we insisted that UU deliver on what their salesman promised on the GST but she just kept saying “everything already very cheap cos all package items”, followed by turning to scold Steve again “here we don’t give GST free one. Why you go and tell customer that”, while we were just standing there staring at her. So after the scolding, she just decidedly ignore us and stare at the screen for a few minutes leaving us in awkward silence. No proper resolution of the issue. Eventually she said "ok lah i give u $10 discount" and offered final price of something like $499.61. Eventually, hubby just said no thanks and we simply walked out. Forget the deal, forget the 1.5 hours we wasted there. Poor Steve came running out to us at the junction and apologized profusely about the entire matter, and said the lady gave in already, but we thanked him for his service but said no thanks anyway. I haven’t seen such bad customer service before, and especially coming from UU after all those good comments? Please, we don’t especially gianyour stupid GST discount, but at least apologize and explain PROPERLY your reasons for not granting further discounts. What’s the point of scolding your staff in front of customers, pissing your customers off, losing 400+ over 20+ (and likely more because of the KIV-ed WC and other taps etc), and also Jason's future patronage?
  13. Hmmm does anyone happen to know if there's a timing restriction, i.e. can Dong Tu after 12 midnight?? because 5 August is a good day to Dong Tu but we will be going on a trip to M'sia
  14. Erm, hubby, so our Dong Tu how ah?
  15. well put fencer! spoken like a real champ Thanks for all your advice! Even tracked down Eurohub's address for us! Need more people like you on forums! If everyone could think like you then the forum has truly lived up to its purpose lor. RESPECT!
  16. makes me wonder why I pay taxes leh
  17. Chill peeps. it's easy to put others down, but ask yourself how you would react if it were YOUR matrimonial home, YOUR reputation on the line and YOUR family's safety to safeguard. don't be too eager to cast stones.
  18. actually, i'm sure my religion does not permit these procedures, but I will stand and watch hubby perform the rituals! I still want to smash a hole in the kitchen wall though. Can lend me your sledgehammer?
  19. randomly surfed the net for "dong tu" procedures and I think there are generally 4 steps: 1) Open door procedure 2) Start of renovations - Dong Tu 3) End of renovations - Xie Tu 4) Move in - Lu Zai Open door procedure NO NEED to select date for 'open door' or 'thank the earth' after reno (debatable - another source says must choose good time/date) According to my understanding it's the first time you open the door after owning it (I think), which is too late for us cos once we received the keys we immediately chiong-ed down to the house. Too excited liao Start of renovations - Dong Tu "Dong Tu" is actually a ceremony to inform "Tu Di Gong" that you going to start work on the house and ask for his blessing that everything is smooth. Have to pick a auspicious date and time that does not clash with your chinese Zodiac signs (no idea how to do that ) Fresh fruits, incense, chinese wine and etc are brought to offer. Other additional items can follow the advice of the elder family members/ relatives. End of renovations - Xie Tu Thank Tu Di Gong for bearing with the dust and noise. Still not quite sure how to do that since most pple say can skip this part. Move-in Procedures So many things!!
  20. Update update! Just had a very good meeting with Jason and his partners.. I like that they're a dedicated bunch and d.amn upfront and frank about all our ideas.. Like we're a team working towards an ultimate goal, not like other salespeople where it always seems like it's them against us.. And after lots of bickering between hubby and myself, I finally conceded defeat and red, black and white kitchen it is then! Handed over the keys and the initial deposit. Our renovation journey officially starts NOW! Woohoo!!! (and Hubby can finally change his "Contractor: Secret " signature to something more decent le )
  21. I want brown! Like Lachesis'!
  22. Haven't move in, but Ah Long move in already Extract from the ICA website
  23. Haha just because they're moving out I can't feel it's nice meh?? I love that dark brown! That's the colour i've been telling u about! And why are we hijacking their t-blog for our discussions?? haha. apologies!
  24. Haha you mean NPP number is not 999?? Anyway was quite disappointed that the police can't do anything about it. Can't even talk to the Eurohub pple on my behalf and just say that they can only step in if he comes again and charge him with harassment. But then I'm thinking, won't that be too late?? This time my gate kena some paint peeled off cos they stuck the letters with those transparent masking tape. I dunno what they might do next. About the background check, we did kinda ask the auntie next door about some stuff but except from the fact that some ex-tenants were dirty, she didn't say anything leh. Moreover, the loan was made on 18 May which is during the time it was empty cos WE WERE BUYING the d.amn place!! It's obviously the Reuel guy trying to cheat the moneylender lor.
  25. Wah jeffcraze, how come these Simei peeps always owing pple money?? I'm surprised that it's so common! I was still at my new place feeling dumb that this happened to us cos we failed to find out from the neighbours abt loan sharks etc. before we bought the place! And how did u dig up some much info about the family? I don't even know who this guy is! We only suspect he's an ex-tenant and know next to nothing about him except his name and IC.. Just like to warn others that next time you buy a resale flat, DO NOT buy one from an owner who rents out the house. Alot of nonsense like this happening and junk mail in the mailbox too. All sorts of letters with names of all nationalities. Urgh.
