  1. @ vicenzo70 Tks for all the previous advices. Just paid a deposit for an Onkyo 608 today. Gotta wait for my reno to finish before i can install my HTS to enjoy. Cheers
  2. 1st of all, my disclaimer is that all my additional T&C are very much reasonable bcos like I told the sales chap who sold us the sofa, at the end of the day, we just want wat we ordered to be delivered to us timely in good reasonable condition. We (consumers) are not out to draw blood just bcos we are the 'paymaster'. Infact, we are generally almost always the victim !! My T&C includes the following (not in the exact words used here but something to that effect); 1) All KG sofa comes with a certificate which will indicate wat type of leather is used on 'your' sofa + all the necessary warranty, you will have to request from FC. 2) The condition of all goods delivered must meet the reasonable expectation of the buyer, else we reserved the rights to reject the said goods, cancel the order and have our deposit refunded 3) We reserve the rights to cancel our orders and have our deposit refunded should the delivery of our ordered goods are delayed for more than 2weeks from the stipulated delivery date. Think there 1 or 2 more but I cant remember off-hand. Importantly, I think the 2 biggest grouses are 1) delayed delivery date, and 2) conditions of goods when delivered. However, I must admit that even with these additional T&C, the entire purchase process may still not be fool-proofed, but it does act as an ammo (of sorts) should things turned otherwise Well, KG sofa needs abt 02 mths of lead time before delivery, I will try to update (if i can still remember by then ) this thread when the time comes
  3. just like to share, definitely not an expert here....I reckon you would have known LG infinia is back lit ya, so why stil interested in border lit? Im not so sure if the local dimming is a gimmick but I like wat i saw
  4. Oh ya, been frequenting Xtremeplace for quite sometime cos before tat, I was looking for sound syst. Yup, knew the fact that these LED are infact LCD with either border / back panel lit. Oso understand Plasma is having the best PQ. Bought LED simply bcos i'm quite a sucker for newer technology + aesthetic design Tks bro
  5. As for ur concern on the silhouette, it shouldnt be much of an issue cos the person taking the shower stil have the buffer distance of the bay window, thus there should not be a sharp silhouette per se. In addition, u can choose a ''heavier' frosting, as opposed to those lighter type As for the design issue, i'm afraid theres nothing much u can do abt it since ur pretty time pressed now U can only hope he does a good job after all the time taken All the best Btw, jus wen for a dip + swim today at the jacuzzi this afternoon ....... nice and shiok
  6. Ok, got my LG brochure and here are the specs I wanted to mentioned abt the 5mil : 1 but got it mixed up with the Hz thingy Dynamic Contrast Ratio - 5,000,000 : 1 Tru Motion - 100Hz
  7. Tks bro ....i'm definitely no expert on these Ive since committed....so, dont tink i can do anything abt it. I will jus enjoy wat i got tks Will edit my thread to prevent passing of wrong info
  8. Initially wanted to do waterproof blinds but was tinkin there will almost never be a chance to wind them up, hence taking the more pragmatic approach....btw, its cheaper as well
  9. Bro, so u contacted william? Glad its workin well for u. Well, hes really proactive and veri open to discussion. How ur defects clearing thus far? mine shd be done by this week...I hope. Will be doing toilet window frosting and planter decking coming wed. Toilet window mus do 1st so as not to provide 'free show'
  10. Maybe I can share cos I was looking at these brands for a 46-47' LED (with a budget of $2500-$2800) like 2mths ago and finally committed like 3weeks ago Samsung - 6000 series (abt $2800-$2900) Sony - Sorry, forgot wat series liao (abt $2700-$2800) Sharp - the latest RGB+Y series (abt $2800 + $300 NTUC voucher) LG - LE5500 Infinia series ($3300 + 26' LCD TV) price is much less after trade-in I committed on LG for the following reasons 1) All have more of less the same specs but LG 5500 seems to have a tad bit of higher spec (having said tat, it will not be day and night diff just tat maybe psychologically, u feel better, tats all ) 2) Almost committed on Sharp but its panel warranty (just 1 yr whereas all other brands 3 yrs) and its reflective panel bugs me off eventually 3) All about the same price. LG cost more for that 5500 series but comes with a free 26' LCD. Managed to find a shop that trade-in the free gift hence making it the most price competitive (i.e. paying lesser for a higher spec TV)
  11. Read This http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=31037
  12. Seems like my new place hit all the criteria except for 'C'...which I personally feel its less crucial / dont change the price of the property since i met criteria 'A'
  13. no offence but i really do not see the benefit of having this 'circulator', vis-a-vis another other standing fan currently available in the market.....yes, the inflated ball floating in the air demo is interesting..... yes, it has got a veri nice blade cover (machiam like my Toyo T1R thread pattern) .... but other than that, I really cant comprehen / justify the sky high price
  14. i tink the manufacture origin is gettin somewat less important cos u and I noe alot / most of the stuffz nowsaday are from ROC. As long as the QC is good, you cant really complain much. I definitely agree with you tat we should not buy base on design / mechanism but the wood quality in sofa....how to ascertain?? FC aside, how about other popular brands like Lorenzo, Cellini, XYQT, Mondi, Montella etc etc....Will they say material ''A'' but on the day of deliver, gave you ''B''? If material B is not too poor as compared to A, how would you know, how can you tell? I really dunno......
  15. Precisely my point.....I got 4 and u experienced 5, all these w/o us having to commit nothing. So the threadstarter spending $1500 just for ID design better make sure he get his $$ worth
  16. Well, I personally tot the workmanship is pretty good....or at least tats wat my ID told me. He mentioned he have seen alot alot of other projects and this is considered good I'm not exactly tat anal about such details cos I believe in live and let live + this defect clearing thingy acts as a double edged weapon i.e. the longer you drag, the later you will start your reno. I mean we can really go into very very minute details if we want to like how the silicon runs in your window / door jam / skirting, paint smudge onto your skirting, near invisible dings / scratches on the door panel etc etc but how time effective is that? To each his own ofcourse Importantly, there must be no major eyesore, tats about all for me And wooow....ur really paying good money for you ID Sure, I can intro my ID to you if ur ever interested. BTW, how many 3D perspectives are ur ID providing you? I got 1 shortlisted ID that did 4 perspective for me w/o having me to commit at all... And ya, so correct about the hotel feel I went to jog along the canal yest nite and thereafter, did my 1st swim in the lap pool....si bei siong loh
  17. Just handed in my 1st defect list today , abt 13 items in all.....and collected my decal and transponder. Sorry bro, I need the transponder, got a small car i jus realise today there is this 1 big oval dry-up watermark in my MBR toilet ceiling. My ID mentioned the developer prolly rectified the water problem oredi but just that they cant totally get rid of the dried marks, but nothing a fresh cost of paint cant cover As for the view wise, I'm not sure abt the 'best view' status in my stack but i'm facing the school, view cant be that fantastic loh . As for 4roomers like urs, u guys are the one thats having the best view loh, regardless of stacks
  18. Tks...after seeing your reply, I called my law firm immediately and after clearing all outstanding admin works, i've oredi gotten my keys since last Wed Oredi went up my new place like 4-5 times oredi. Going there again this sat to finalise some ID measurement, meeting my FSM this sunday Btw, which blk ur in? I'm in 36 And ur rite....no flooding in our basement ....... yet
  19. This is a really nice looking TV indeed (1 of the 3 model i shortlisted) but the panel warranty and the reflective screen is bothering me too much. I got myself a 47' LG5500 infinia instead. But anyway, we jus enjoy ours ya Cheers
  20. Not exactly. I've shortlisted 4 ID firm and out of which, 3 of them show me their 3D designs of my new place and the last one showed me 2 x 3D perspective hand drawings. Of the 3 ID that showed me their 3Ds, 1 of them showed me 1 view (living room), another 2nd ID showed me 2 views (living + MBR) and the 3rd ID, also the one which i should be signing with (if nothing goes wrong) showed me 2 views (living + MBR) and subsequently revised 2 more views which he showed me today. All these are done without any committment or whatsoever
  21. Personally somewat agreed with you on the paying for branding theory. I'm still using my Dunlopillo (Queen size but dunno wat model) which i bought 6yrs back for like less than $800. Totally fine with it but since i'm shifting soon, tot its time to get a new mattress. Went to Home Design & Decor in early July, tried a Simmons (oso dunno wat model) tat cost $2.8k. Find tat its real nice and comfy but way off my budget. Spoke to the sale for a while and subsequently went to the opposite booth just 2 meter across. Since my wife and I love firm/hard matress, we asked for their firmest mattress and was brought to a 'Vono' brand mattress. Now, the brand sounds dodgy to me but nonethelsss, give it a try and to our surprise, not much of a diff to the Simmon one I tried like 3mins ago!! Asked for the price and it was revealed to be $999 !!! My wife and i were like looking at each other in disbelief !!! We did not commit anything since it will take a while before we actually shift. Now, just last week, my mom ask me to for her those 3-fold thin mattress from Seahorse in Jurong point. When i reached the showroom, my wife and I were looking at their mattress. I must admit I was skeptical at their mattress especially so since its priced so cheap (less than $600). Yet again, no harm trying and once again, my wife and I tried the mattress and to our surprise (yet again), it was very firm (what we loved) and best of all, very affordable !!! then there was another mattress with memory foam padding and after trying that, I was like WTH ?!?!? si bei ho leh My point is this..... I must admit though there are some differences btween Seahorse and Simmons, the differences are definitely not day and night....the same cannot be said for their price diff !!! So, if u have the budget, go for wat u want. Else, choose one tats within ur budget and be happy abt it
  22. 2nd folder: Access Cards 2nd folder: Keys Galore Close up for a bunch of keys The red bag that contained 5 air-con controllers Tats all for now
  23. Just received my keys to my new place and wana share my joy here I've already shortlisted a few IDs base on the feedback in RT and find this especially helpful. RT really narrowed down my choices and made my search all the more fruitful Without further ado, here are my floorplan And the super gorgeous welcome kit when I went to collect the keys The velvet bag that contained 2 folders and 1 bag of air-con controllers 1st folder: contained all the layouts (electrical, air-con etc) + warranty for the air-con, hood & hob, water heater etc 2nd folder: contained all the dos and donts in the project
  24. Just to share, Audio house is having display set sale for Panny 2Dr fridge Inverter Series NR-BY551XS ($799) & NR-BY601XS ($899). I'm eyeing on this model for a few weeks oredi and usual price is $11xx & $12xx at places like MEGA. Will cost slightly more in BD & HN. Do act fast if interested cos not all display sets are in good aesthetic condition, hence the lower than usual price Cheers
