Congrats! Looks like your reno is almost completed. I like the spread of red and white for your kitchen cabinets, very interesting. And love your window grilles with the horizontal bars only at the centre area.

No, we weren't asked to add money for the tiles, but now we don't have a full board behind the feature wall. So maybe that's where they offset the cost. Since there's no board, we will be mounting our TV directly on the wall, there may be a bit of wires seen trailing down into the hole cut out for the wires to enter the sockets which are within the tv console. If we mount our tv higher on the wall, more wire will be seen. We didn't really get any free gifts so far leh, but when there's a need to do something extra, we will take out something else so no need to top up. Leslie did help us paint our main door and door frames though. When we bought the bedroom doors, Best Industrial wanted to charge us $45 to paint each door frame. If Leslie did not agree to paint it, we're most likely going to paint it ourselves.

The inside of the wardrobe. Since we opted for the glass drawers, we do not have any drawers with locks. Something to take note of, if you need drawers with locks, then you can't have the glass drawers. Since there may be the need to hang long dresses in the wardrobe, the 2 open shelves at the right are not fixed but can be lifted up and removed easily. 2 other miscellaneous photos to end off this round of photo postings. Bedroom 3 painted with Dulux Soft Sky.

Finally, our big 9 feet wardrobe in the master bedroom! This wardrobe is set into the hacked wall between master bedroom and bedroom 2. So from the master bedroom side, it looks flushed set into the wall. There are some vertical grooves in quite a few walls around the house, which have been patched. Check out the before and after. The back of the wardrobe (the side facing bedroom 2) is just boarded up... ...then painted over to look like a normal wall. Btw our paint colours are Dulux Marina Blue for the whole house, Pine for bedroom 2, and Soft Sky for bedroom 3.

Yup! Going to put a glass backsplash there, a full height one all the way to the ceiling. The right of it seems to me like a miscalculation of the cupboard height... We're waiting to see what they plan to do there.

Our TV feature wall has some tiled portions, the tiles are decided by Leslie, probably some extra tiles he has from another project. Anyway, glad he accommodated our request to have a tiled TV feature. Somehow we like the idea of having tiles there. Close-up of the tile Tiled feature wall. Can't really see the texture of the tiles. Wall painted blue General view of the painted living room

Here's the vanity cupboard and mirror - in progress, and completed version. In case anyone is interested, here are some close-ups of the wood used for carpentry.

Didn't really think of the pros and cons before, it's more like an afterthought. You should note this for your reno! Anyway, I think it's also cleaner to paint before carpentry, then there won't be any paint accidentally painted onto the edge of the cupboards.

Carpentry is done for the whole house. Here are the kitchen cabinets. Our dish rack is that lower hanging square on the left of the fridge kerb. Supposed to have a glass door, but the carpenter made it a wooden door instead. Since we're not particular about glass/wooden door, we decided not to change it. Holes have been cut out in the cupboards for the sink and hob. The position is slightly off now, it's not horizontally straight but slants upwards on the right side for BOTH sink and hob... However, Jeremy assured us that when the sink and hob rests in their final position on the solid surface, they will be straight. Strangely, there is a portion on the right of the sink where the wall is not tiled. I'm not sure what they're planning to do with that. Probably they thought the cabinet will be tall enough to cover the untiled portion? Anyway, it's definitely too thick for the solid surface to cover. The wall behind all our top cabinets is also untiled. Is that the way it's usually done? Here's the shoe cabinet right in front of the door.

Haha, not so soon ba... Final inspection is on Tuesday, but our furniture delivery is scattered until 11 Sep, so probably move in after that. Right now they're painting the house. The painting should have been done before the carpentry is up, but because the carpentry was ready earlier than painters, the schedule was swopped. However, the bad thing about painting after carpentry is that next time if you hack away the carpentry, the wall behind is the old wall colour, so will have to re-paint if carpentry positions / size change in future. Will post some photos next.

samgalz, we've checked with Jeremy and he said the kerb is okay, it's not too shallow that water will spill out. I guess that's fine then. Banned, after checking, we found that the tiles at the kerb are already rounded, just not showing clearly in the photos.

Hi chiyank, I'm not sure if the quality is good or not, will have to try using it for a while to determine that. They're currently not installed yet. All of our s/s toilet accessories are from the Grundtal range, which some people have mentioned here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11662. Sorry, I can't help with your question... Haven't heard of VHR and VR Union.

Yeah, it looks too shallow right? Just seems a little weird... And it slants quite visibly towards the centre, I suppose so that water will flow towards the floor trap. We've flagged this out to Leslie and Jeremy, hope they can take a look at it the next time they pop by. Anyway carpentry is done! But for the dish rack, I had thought it's quite standard for the door to open out and up, i.e. staying perpendicular to the floor at all times, like what I saw at 2 friends' newly renovated houses. However, turns out that it opens out to 90 degrees, to become parallel to the floor. The worse thing is my wife can't really reach the door when it's fully open, so when opening, she needs to release halfway and let it slam fully open, and for closing, she needs to hop. Really hope they can change this, else it's really not user-friendly.

I'm not sure if it's sharp. From the photos, it looks like not rounded huh. Thanks for the heads up! Need to check the next time we pop by.

U shld buy after they tell u the measurement. I went to buy after they told me. Then somehow, the size changed and they told me to go change a new one. It is a hassle and the replacement model is ugly (refer earlier post). Right now, I am waiting for Leslie to tell me what to do. Hopefully he will be able to use a 2" offset pan collar with the current WC i bought. This is the most ideal for everyone. Cos i dowan the replacement WC to spoil the whole house design! As a guide, always check with them u buy anything. safest.

They will give the dimension once your toilet wall are plastered and up. Yup we are keeping the Lbox, why, do u think its ok?

I love that glass partition in the living room! The bathroom wall tiles look very special too. Do post more pics

Regarding the common bathroom's toilet bowl issue, we're not quite sure what to make of it. The original measurement we were given is 4" toilet bowl, so we bought a 5" that came with an offset pan collar. Eventually, the plumber found that the measurement of the wall to the centre of the hole is 3.5", so that's problem #1. Problem #2: The offset pan collar has a diameter of 4", and the outlet pipe on the floor has a diameter of 3.5", so it won't fit! After calling the shop where we bought our bathroom accessories (Ze Tong Trading at Sims Ave), we found that pan collars have a fixed diameter of 4", so Jeremy will probably have to get someone to chip at the hole on the ground to enlarge it. We're quite confused about this as well. Not sure if anyone knows whether we can still use our 5" toilet bowl with another offset pan collar to fit our measurements? According to Serene from Ze Tong, ideally if we don't wish to offset too much, we should buy another toilet bowl, but it's going to be the old kind where you can see "elephant trunks snaking down the sides" <-- her quote! Sounds ugly...

This should be the shoe cabinet. Here's the kitchen cabinet below the sink. We requested to have tiled bottom and back as we're paranoid about leakage and rotting wood. Kitchen cabinet on the other wall, with the 3 drawers. We've tested the 3 drawers and the soft closure mechanisms are already in! And finally, last photo for today, a bunch of mirrors in the bedroom. We're not sure where these mirrors are supposed to go to.

The downlights in the living room Lbox have all been taken down and the holes are patched. Shower kerb has been constructed in both bathrooms. There is now alot of carpentry items in the living room, waiting to be installed. This looks like our long TV console, so long that is has to be done in 2 parts?

Seems like the plumber has installed some pipes and the water heater. Jeremy flagged out a problem with our common bathroom toilet bowl. Apparently the measurements done the first time round were wrong, so we may have to send it back and buy another one. Progress is very fast. Tiling is all completed, and corrugated cardboard has been laid on the floors. Managed to take this shot of our new kitchen tiles before cardboard is laid. I must say we both like this more than our original choice after all. Good thing the original ones were uneven! The partition at the living room has been put up. The front side will be a flat painted surface, so it will look like a wall. On the other side, there are 2 recessed areas for us to place some display items. The other partition at the kitchen hob area has also been tiled! Both these partitions were constructed for fengshui reasons.

We popped by on Saturday as WCs and basins are being delivered, and there were workers plastering the walls. Even more surprisingly, we popped by again on Sunday as we were near the area and there was a worker doing the bathroom wall tile groutings. If they're working 7 days a week, no wonder our reno can be cut short. Jeremy has just sent us the revised reno schedule, our reno started on 2 Aug, and will end on 31 Aug. That's just 4 weeks!
