  1. Now for the comparison between 3D and actual Living Room Kitchen Hob
  2. Thanks Banned and froggy. Yeah, total 20 downlights! But actually the 2 lights in the centre are bright enough, the downlights are just for decorative purposes.
  3. Last 2 photos to share for today. The glass backing behind our hob is done. The white silicone applied at the sides are not perfectly even, but considering the size of this large piece of glass to be installed in such a confined space, it's a pretty good job. Measurements are precise too. The hanging light at the walkway between living room to the kitchen is installed. We wanted this hanging light to be arranged in descending order, but the lowest light will be too low then, and tall people will walk into it. I think hanging lights like this are more suitable for hanging over a dining table since nobody will be walking through the dining table. Anyway, in our case we decided to just let it all hang at the same height.
  4. All the downlights have been installed in the house: We like the way the downlight highlights the texture of our tiled feature wall. However, some of the downlights are crooked:
  5. Seems like no cover is more popular! We're still undecided though. In person, if there's no cover, the 5 halogen bulbs are quite obvious and not very nice-looking. It is alot brighter with no cover though. Anyway, hand-over date has been pushed back to 7 September. There are some things still need to be done on that day, like touching up paint. The initial paintwork was done before all the electrical trunkings were finished, so they're now white and need to be re-painted. Yesterday was mainly progress on the doors. First the bathroom door locks are done. The master bathroom door is much more well-done than common bathroom. Common bathroom door is very hard to close and open as the plastic fin lining the edge of the door seems to be too long. Also, the common bathroom door lock cannot slide into the hole in the wall, I think it's slightly misaligned. Our wrought iron gate is finally up: We did not have a good experience with CNS who supplied us with the gate. First, the lady we talked to when ordering has a very very bad attitude. Then, they somehow managed to get the measurements wrong twice! It was supposed to be installed last month, but on the day of installation, the gate can't fit. Yesterday, they came with an amended gate and it still can't fit. The installers had to cut an inch off and weld it back on the spot. That's why the horizontal wavy bars are spaced equally apart except at the most bottom rung. Bedroom doors were also installed yesterday: The doors have some texture, which we like very much:
  6. I like the storeroom rack. Where is Yee Sing? Btw what is the dimension of the rack u got in the pic?
  7. Sunny... Hey i got the same kitchen light as u...good taste...hahaha
  8. Oic. I tend to agree. By getting my own door suppliers, i had to do a lot of coordination work which was hectic. Two different suppliers somemore. One for iron gate, the other bedroom doors suppliers. The bedroom doors supplier was pretty to easy to deal with. Very accomodating whenever change in schedule. I changed two times, they were still very nice. As for the wrought iron gate, i had a hard time. First time they came, they were not able to fix up due to wrong measurement. So gotta make another appt, but i got to weave into their time-table instead of the other way round. How abt that? Anyway all doors are coming this Sat, hope everything will be smooth. Esp for the iron gate.
  9. Ok, maybe just one more sharing for the night. The wall, between the master bedroom and bedroom 2, that was hacked away. and making way for the wardrobe which doubles as the wall. You are looking at the back of the wardrobe
  10. By the way, I am not too certain if I should cover the lights up or keep it open. Votes anyone? Exposed Covered-up
  11. I doubt it is crystal. But i hope it does have the WOW effect when u walk into the house.
  12. One more sharing for the night. Top left: Thats the showerhead in the common bathroom, which is very much smaller than the one in the master bathroom Top right: View of the common toilet from the door. Bottom left: Grundtal toilet paper holder. Its really hard to find a nice decent looking toilet paper holder! Bottom right: The kitchen sink. Its quite poorly done, as it is not flush with the solid top. Need to get Leslie and Jeremy to rectify this.
  13. Some more pictures from the master bathroom Top Left: Thats our showerhead with the IKEA Grundtal series side rack. Oh yah, the wires are not connected yet. Top Right: Thats the entrance to the master bathroom. Some other ID i asked previously suggested having a transparent one, and make use of the hot steam to fog up the door. That was suggestive. Bottom Left: This is with the 2 T5 light lit. Bottom Right: This is with the normal lights on. Pretty unsightly pipings there. Considered boxup but will make the toilet look low and the moisture could be bad for the wood. We gotta be doubly careful with the vanity there.
  14. 2 minor hiccup during light installation 1. One of the hanging 'tube' was broken (See bottom left pic, thats the dining room light. Bottom right is living room light) Made my way back to lighting.com to have it replaced. No questions asked when exchanging. First class service 2. Dining room light and living room light swapped. Rectified the next day. (wrong one on top left pic, rectified in top right pic). Living room and dining room lightings.
  15. Haha, okie. Share some of the photos we have taken over the past week. Wardrobe (Close and Open)
  16. Yeah man, I have told the ID about it. Hope he can at least sandpaper the top and bottom to make sure that the door could at least close seamlessly.
  17. There is another problem we realized when we went up on sunday We noticed that the main door was not able to close fully and it brushes against the floor while closing/opening. I half suspect that this could be due to the paint being overlaid on the old paint coat. I thought the norm is to have the door sandpapered before the new paint coat goes on? So that the door will not look thicker, yeah? Advice, anyone?
  18. Strangely, there is a portion on the right of the sink where the wall is not tiled. I'm not sure what they're planning to do with that. Probably they thought the cabinet will be tall enough to cover the untiled portion? Anyway, it's definitely too thick for the solid surface to cover. The wall behind all our top cabinets is also untiled. Is that the way it's usually done? It turns out that Jeremy and Leslie do know their stuff. The part was not tiled as the solid top would have been able to cover it anyway. Heres how it looks like now, with the solid top concealing the untiled area behind. Solid top covers untiled wall
  19. That's our plan too! Next time when we have spare cash then change, since it's easy to change. We just asked Leslie to sand down and paint the main door, and we're getting Best Industrial to change the lock set and eye view for the main door. It's $85 for the lock set and $5 for the eye view.
  20. Hi froggy, When we were asking around about the price of the cheapest type of door, which is the classic door, they're mostly around $150. Eventually at Best, we topped up some amount (forgot exact amount) for it to be wood-filled for extra strength, and topped up $35 for L-shaped handles, making a total of slightly more than $200 per door. The most expensive door at Best is $750. That $750 door looks like it's laminated or coated with plastic, not the normal veneer door. The veneer door should be cheaper, not sure how much though. For us, we were only looking at the cheapest type of door, so didn't ask for price of veneer doors. You can just check the website to see which designs you like, then call for a quote. We spoke to a nice lady called Huizi. Hope this helps!
  21. Yes, I can't remember his quote exactly, but remember it's alot more expensive than if we get from other suppliers. You don't have to decide now, can compare his quote against other suppliers, then decide if you want to get from him. I see alot of ads in the papers for doors and gates every weekend, very easy to call up and ask for quotations.
  22. Well, Leslie told us to mount the TV as low and as close to the hole as possible. But it depends, if it is too low and uncomfortable to watch TV, then we'd rather see some wires. Yalor, $45 just to paint each door frame leh! We have 3, so that means $135 just to paint the door frames white. No, I remember asking Leslie or Jeremy to quote for bedroom doors, but quite expensive, so we didn't get from them. Then again, we didn't really ask what type of doors they quoted for, cos the price differs alot based on design and whether the doors are hollow, filled, solid wood, etc. Eventually, we got filled (which is not hollow, not solid wood, somewhere in between) classic doors from Best Industrial, about $200 each. They have a very wide variety of doors, worth taking a look. http://www.bestindustrial.com.sg/
