I had a great time too, can't wait to have another gathering Didn't realise how fast time flies ya? Glad to hear that u like the mashed potatoes, lucky I made extra..hee hee! Love your house and the cats too! For 27 Oct, I'll have to check first with my son's playgroup school, to see if there's any timing clashes.

At least I openly admit that I got tummy fats lor.

Oh, for us it's gotta be Faithfully (by Journey). !! It's actually quite by accident that both me & hubby found out that this song is our own favorite. It hits the right note for us, bcos both of us had been through many heartaches before we met each other. And this song also kind of represent the second chance that both of us were somehow given to learn to love again...after we lost contact (full story on Share Stories on How You and Spouse Met thread). And presently, whenever this song comes out on the radio in the car, me & hubby just need to give each other smiles & knowing looks and quietly enjoy the song until finished.

Lucille Ball (a famous female comedienne) once said: "The secret to staying youthful is to live honestly, eat slowly and lie about your age." !! I kinda agree with her one-liner. Even though I don't lie abt my age, some people still don't believe me especially when I'm out alone without my hubby or our son.

Hee heee....me gave up wearing heels years ago, cannot catch up with my son. !! It's very hilarious lor...wearing heels, nice handbag, clumsy sleeves, chasing my son. How I wish I can wear skinny jeans. Most of the time, to satisfy my desire for skinny jeans, ended up laughing at myself when trying to squeeze into one when shopping. Imagine all my tummy fats all bunched up high under my boobs So usually for casual weddings or occasions where I can skip wearing the baju kurung, I'll pair a men's cut kind of jeans (kinder to my body shape) with linen or voile kaftans. Very tempting to match it with my Crocs, but usually play it safe and wear low-heeled mules instead. But once inside the car, Crocs or slippers are a must for me when driving.

To discipline your bf's 15-yr-old brother is like walking on eggshells leh (something like bending an old bamboo), a bit sensitive matter IMHO, moreover not your family yet. In this situation, is he also rude to your bf and mom as well? Can he carry out a decent civil conversation with u, other than the greeting part?
-
Hee heee...seen that in many households that i've been to before. If name-calling and negative competition is not nipped in the bud, then it most probably will become a norm when others see it as shockingly ill-disciplined or bad manners. It all reflects on the parents, so the onus is on the parents to nurture and guide the children. Difficult or easy to raise a child, it's a personal will really...IMHO

I agree too, especially abt parents not contradicting each other. Additionally, grandparents too can play a part in helping us learning abt parenting and our own parenting styles. Both my parents and MIL (FIL passed on years ago) do not interfere when me & hubby discipline our son or criticise our parenting style. Bcos me & hubby has discussed at length abt our own family values, traditions, parenting & discipline styles before our son was born.

Actually, u can also check online abt your past 6 months' bills, consumption details/history and changes in tariff rates. Anyways, I share with u my utilities bills for past 6 months as detailed below: Bill dated April 2007 - Usage from 7 Mar to 5 Apr - Bill: $133.63 - Electricity: 469 units @18.88 cents/kWh - Water: 12.8 CuM @117 cents/CuM Bill dated May 2007 (Actual) - Usage from 6 Apr to 7 May - Bill: $141.99 - Electricity: 554 units @18.88 cents/kWh - Water: 10.6 CuM @117 cents/CuM Bill dated June 2007 - Usage from 8 May to 5 Jun - Bill: $125.38 - Electricity: 471 units @18.88 cents/kWh - Water: 10.7 CuM @117 cents/CuM Bill dated July 2007 (Actual) - Usage from 6 Jun to 4 Jul - Bill: $177.49 - Electricity: 862 units @20.52 cents/kWh - Water: 22.6 CuM @117 cents/CuM Bill dated Aug 2007 - Usage from 5 Jul to 5 Aug - Bill: $205.25 - Electricity: 723 units @20.52 cents/kWh - Water: 18.0 CuM @117 cents/CuM Bill dated Sep 2007 (Actual) - Usage from 6 Aug to 3 Sep - Bill: $48.33 - Electricity: 125 units @20.52 cents/kWh - Water: 4.7 CuM @117 cents/CuM The highest consumption so far was last yr during housewarming parties & Hari Raya period, the highest bill was close to $400. I've been studying the bills since February 2006 (when I got my keys) to date. During the hot months, the electricity & water consumption usually shoot up. And also when it's time to clean & service the aircons. The most signifant drop is the latest bill, as since last month my son don't want to sleep with aircon on whole night, prefers the fan currently. Wow! They did a gd job For the air-con servicing I use Carrier-Toshiba team, bcos still under warranty mah. Last time, air-con cleaning, checking & top-up gas service for both R22 and R410a was FOC. I oredi got back-up aircon guys (my mum's regular a/c guys) just in case.
-
Hee hee....that reminds me have to service my aircons liao, more than 8 months oredi.

End work was done swee-swee.

All About Breastfeeding
gendon replied to gendon's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
Well, in some books do and some books don't - depending on the authors who some take a neutral stance, some are more pro-breastfeeding. It's a personal choice, really. For bottles and sterilisers, it applies to mothers who expresses their milk too, not only for formula milk feeding. In fact, I stopped pumping after 6 months, bcos my son was growing too fast and getting heavy too soon even though he's exclusively bf, so PD advised to lessen the EBM feed in bottles, and to direct-breastfeed instead. So the excess frozen EBM stored, when my son started on semi-solids after 6 mnths, I just need to thaw the EBM and mixed it with his food. As babies get older, they're more efficient in drawing out more milk in a single feed, so naturally babies are the best milk-production regulators. The reason that I don't have any standby FM tins or packets is that personally I see it as a distraction, that's all. Bcos I know myself, if I know it's available in the house and I might lose focus on working on breastfeeding instead of giving up easily. -
Hi monsieurlee I found out that the rat you mentioned in your earlier posts, is also known as the sewer rat. My BIL (who works in a pest control company) told me that even cats are afraid of this kind of rat. In order for the rat not to come back again, in case it finds that someone has invaded their territory, it's best to remove any trace of their scent (their own urine, faeces, fur, nest, etc.) from all the floors and walls with diluted bleach (with detergent) solution, as soon as possible. I was told that its urine can affect one's health, due to the bacteria. And if someone is bitten by such rat, better straightaway go to doctor to get rabies & tetanus shot. Look out for dirt markings on the wall, approx. the height of the rat. Follow the lines and it will lead to where it nests. Usually this kind of rat is very garang one, and has the ability to climb up the electrical risers and sewer pipes.
