  1. Your calculation may be true for certain group. But for me, 20 plus, both PRs, just married, first house, having kids soon in the future... Starting with HDB is a safe choice.
  2. Congrats!~ You and me will get the keys around the same time. I am also searching for contractor now. Good luck!
  3. Agree! Looking at housing as a total cost is smarter. Unlike investing properties, then will be totally another story.
  4. One reason: we are two PRs, and Natural Loft is only open for citizens. We are not eligible. So now, you can see the priviledges of a Singapore Citizen?
  5. Wah!~ Really nice done!~ I especially like your bathroom!~
  6. Bi-fold? Slide & Swing? Always a question...
  7. Nice bathrooms!~ I love pretty bathrooms!~
  8. LOL He should be just too free la. Nothing else to do, too farmiliar about the neighberhood and feel interesting about the new change lor. Interesting neighboour! I also want to learn how to get along with my future neighbours...
  9. That's why we like RenoTalk and sharing all the info here. Reading the journey of other ppl's house is also quite fun!
  10. Thanks!~ Headache already begins... ... Is this like "No Pain, No Gain"? I am very detailed oriented and numbers sensitive. My hubby likes to show off his understanding in space planning and colours. Workigng together to build our first home is really tough... ...
  11. Thank you!~ We really need to thank RenoTalk's founder... Good luck for your reno too!
  12. We wll have roughly the same 2nd appointment date and key collection date. However, haven't confirmed which contractor to use...
  13. I started late... It is now only less than one month before I collect my key and I just start looking for contractors... Asking friends around me and realized that some even started 3 month before completion!~ For local Singaporeans, it is always easy to find referrals from relatives or friends. For new immigrants like me, I can only depend on my handful friends and internet. Thanks to RenoTalk and MyContractors.sg. Very soon, I have got few contacts and some progress: 1) GQ & R Designs - referred by one housing agent Shanti - An western culture educated Indian lady with a very nice accent. Talking to her over the phone, you will think that you are talking to a British lady. Frank, professional and caring about her clients. However, she just started her own company for few months and in my view, it means she has not built a strong enough team. She has lots of experience for Condo projects for Indian home. Thus, she doesn't have workers for HDB and the taste is a question mark. Quote is slightly higher than average. 2) Surfacesolutions - referred by friend William - it was my first meeting with contractor together with my hubby. As we didn't know what we want, thus this meeting was a mess. But mainly my fault, not his. Still waiting for quote and will let the numbers talk... 3) Id Home Plus & Services - through MyContractors.sg Teo - Sounds experienced and frank, however, also can tell that he is very good at sales and telling us what we want but not what we need. Quote came but Teo missed few things that we want to do. KIV and let the numbers talk... 4) Designer Guy - through RenoTalk Lim Jie & Andrew - Very professional, experienced and frank. Engineering trained, logical. Giving the quote on the spot. Really shows his ability in his job. However, we will be under Lim Jie, Andrew's apprentice and Andrew is a very busy guy. A little bit concern about quality control. Quote is resonable. 5) IDEE Interior Design - MyContractors.sg Eunice - Friendly guy. Few years in the industry, not that much experience. He kept showing us the laminate floor tiles and we even thought he is a salesman... Quote is higher than Designer Guy. 6) Wild Angle - referred by friend Jacky - Currently overseas, haven't met 7) Henry from ID Note - Referred by RenoTalk Henry - hearing a lot from this forum. Just received his contact. Haven't met yet. 8) IntraDesign - referred by RenoTalk Angeline - my project is too small, they don't want to take my case. 9) ** - referred by RenoTalk Planning to talk soon 路漫漫之修远兮,吾将上下而求索。Still seraching and searching... Praying that God will give me a good contractor to build my little nest...
  14. Thanks for the info!~ We surely will go there to find out more. Really looks just nice to fit my bathroom. Hehe~ We chose Bishan, because both my hubby and I need to travel island wide for works. Bishan is not that far for every corner the island. Plan to call Henry tomorrow morning. ^_^
  15. Yup. Very low floor. For my block, highest is Level 4. How high floor I can choose. Haha!~ No much view. Other than the tree tops. No west sun, but will be afraid that MBR will be a bit dark.
  16. Yup. Sounds reasonable. Due to family situation of the seller. Signed in early July. Didn't affect by the government cooling measures at all.
  17. Yup, yup~ I also have to give up my dream vanity top with beautiful cabinet... ... because of the limited size and the stupid pipes... Where do you buy the the cabinet with basin on top? What's the size for the basin? I only have 450mm for the basin. If yours fits, I want to get the same one! Btw, I will contact Henry and he may be my contractor too.
  18. Managed to get my 4A @ Bishan. COV: 28K 5 min walk to MRT...
  19. Any one heared these crendentials? Are these important when selecting the contractors? The contractors I have talked to so far have NONE of above. Does that matter?
  20. Have been rejected by IntraDesign, as they only take overall reno case. I am only doing mainly the Master Bedroom only... So ......
  21. Also sharing the same concern... ... Any one have done overlaying before?
  22. I am also doing my toilet soon. Where to get the floor and wall tiles? Where do the supplier locate?
