Panasonic Air-con *latest Model*
breadman replied to whitefantasy's topic in Electronics & Electricals
I'm not exactly sure if this is true, but the aircon salesman told me that non-inverter sys3 can only efficiently run 2 aircon output at the same time, as the condenser only has 2 units within. Running 3 output would not achieve optimal temperature and hence, will suffer a longer load period as the aircon is constantly working at 100% but not able to reach its set temperature and engage power saving mode. Then again, another salesman told me that buying sys2 inverter is also not worth it if you run 1 aircon output. He explains that unlike non-invertor which has 2 units in the condenser and turning on one output will only activate one unit, inverter condenser does not have this split unit advantage and turning on one output will activate the whole condenser. But not sure whether power consumption is higher compared to non-inv 1 output. -
cool. thanks for the feedback but cannot deny the half burger light is cute ya... lol

Plaster Over Existing Tiles?
breadman replied to breadman's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
thanks for the advice. I was also thinking the same. Suspect it would probably cost more to repair any damages later.. -
Dear all, got a few questions on lighting here 1. Are three 20w fluorescent bulbs light output equivalent to one 60w fluorescent bulb? Equal in brightness? But 3 bulbs at certain angle should distribute the light better? I can't really wrap my head around this.. 2. Also, which would be more energy conserving? Does the 3x 20w take more power to start-up and stay lit or is it the other way round? 3. For ceiling fans, is those 3x angle lights or those half burger lights brighter? Thanks for your comments in advance

4rm Resale @ Jw

Nice May I ask how much is your WIW and how long is it? Mine was quoted at $1380 for 2m long. Hope its as nice as yours! -
Aron's price is slightly cheaper than other shops which I have scouted. But with their new promotions at Jurong East Interchange, I signed up for a Pana sys3 non-inv on the spot. Just hope the actual installation and follow-up will be as good and reliable as the reviews Just to clarify, $300 ntuc vouchers are for sys3 Invertor only. $100 ntuc vouchers are for non-inv. Still a good deal

Other than KDK, which is known for its reliability, which other brands are next in line? I have looked at Amasco, Fanco and Alpha. So far, Alpha is cheapest.. but I can barely feel any wind from the ceiling fan.. only at speed 3 can I feel noticeable wind. Any other recommended brands for me to consider? One that allows burger lights or 3-point lights

oh thanks for the reply bro. then how do you guys solve the no lighting problem if the room only has one wire source? even if cable splitting is possible (im guessing), won't the light behind the fan blades create loads of shadows?
-
Been doing some researching. So far, have not been able to find any KDK ceiling fans with light kit. Anyone knows?

Defong Renovation Id
breadman replied to kksg2000's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Do update us on your progress canopy I'm kinda interested in engaging Defong to reno my resale 4 rm. But kinda worried on the negative reviews on the beginning of this thread. But the promotions that Defong is offering is kinda hard to resist. -
Can I also join in to get a quote for system 2 Panasonic inverter and non-inverter? Wanna compare the price before I decide which to get. Installation probably Oct/Nov 2010. My email at heldrac@hotmail.com Thank you
-
hmm interesting thread. which is cheaper? alum or iron? unfortunately, I have just bought a corridor corner unit.. 2 bedrooms and living room all exposed.. what the solution to getting more security and privacy? iron grills + those half curtains? but so far I've seen a few half curtains, all not very nicely done

My ID quoted and encouraged me to plaster over existing kitchen tiles instead of hacking, cementing and plastering to cut cost. Is this a good idea? Will the tiles give me trouble later?

I'm thinking of adding a granite kitchen sink to my laminate cabinet. Is this advisable? Main reason for this is to save on reno cost as granite top cabinets are over my budget, since a lot of cash went into COV... Not sure if a laminate top cabinet can hold a granite sink. I suspect a granite sink is much heavier than a metal one?
