thanks GG, will wait for your detailed reply the wooden sticks on the boundary, are they bamboo sticks? how was it installed on your fences? you had some green fence in your earlier photos.

Hi mudball, Noticed that you've corner shelfing in the shower area. Are they granite or solid top & how was it installed into the wall? Can take a clearer pic? The bathroom walls - did the tiler put a plastic strip at the edges of corner/L-shape walls? I have also chosen a similar marble like tile for the bathroom.

Oh the dimpled pattern sounds like a better choice, should be easier to clean too.

Not sure if knurling finish is good for bathroom bars since it's more difficult to clean as the little pocket holes may trap dust and dirt. Just my 2 cents worth.

Low Wall For L-shape Kitchen Necessary?
Livinstyle replied to advancer's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
instead of constructing a wall, you may wish to consider having tiling on the back of the cabinet instead. this method is rather similar to the tiling that is used in bathroom box up walls. there this may incur some cost but should be significantly lower that constructing a hollow block wall. -
Detect Leaking Of Concealed Pipes
Livinstyle replied to 2010huat's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
if your place water pipings have isolation valve for each of the area, then it will be much easier. just turn off each area and monitor the meter. other than pipe leakage... other possiblities include WC water pump, WC & taps water inlet pipes etc. otherwise, you can consider getting a licenced plumber to detect concealed pipe leakage. there are some special equipment to detect such leakage. can check out http://www.plumbing.org.sg/home_svcs.htm for estimated charges. -
my european bosses do practice it to a certain extent. like they say, no harm believing it and all for peace of mind. FS is also commonly used in hotels even though they are managed by angmohs.

GG, all i can say is fabulous house! Really spacious space and a big big kitchen. Can't wait to see more pics. Noticed that you have both induction and gas hob in your kitchen. Do you have a separate wet kitchen? I would not bear to have my helper abusing the pretty kitchen that you have.

frosted windows will be good in areas where privacy is required. eg. bathrooms tinted windows for areas where you would like a view.

Bar/railings To Be Installed For Old People In Toilets
Livinstyle replied to Reno145's topic in Home Furnishings
Is it safe? Anyone used it before? For those who need to use it, they tend to lean their weight on it. If the railings give way or lose its suction power, it could be dire for the user. -
here's one http://www.sunpower.com.sg/ saw them in one of the advertisement booklets. think i remember seeing some at DIY shops like self-fix.

will keep a lookout for it. you can consider pasting a 'lost & found' poster

would love to, but mister dead set against it cos they're concealed. contractor friend shared with us that it is difficult to repair, wall mount can come loose due to the pressure/weight and need adjustment (or rehanging, or it can break if there's cracks), and more prone to leakage (hard to detect until you see puddle of water) as compared to floor mount wc. if traditional wc can break into halves (heard first hand from owner herself, so no joking... forgot to ask brand, but remembered she said it's china made), then my guess is wall hung wc is even more precarious. so as much as i love the aesthetics of wall hung wc, i'm inclined to go with a more lasting & practical choice.
-
b_surprise, thanks. i'm still on the lookout for a wall aligned WC (like the one in the photo below). so far the most economic one i've come across is Clayton (heard it's a Malaysia brand, not sure if it's good).

Looking For Thick Long Bamboo Poles As Divider From Floor To Ceiling
Livinstyle replied to dkwokgs's topic in Home Deco
What's the reasoning behing it? -
I was advised by a contractor friend that concealed WC can be difficult to repair, worse if there's water leakage which can be hard to detect.
-
Hi berry_surprise, Thanks for the tip. Will go check it out soon. The base of the WC has no gap between the wall right?
-
Hi GGiraffe, Thanks for the information. But my mister being too practical insist on a non-concealed WC, so back to drawing board. Now looking for a WC with its back aligned with the wall, that's the best compromise between practicality and aesthetic i guess.
-
Where did you get the crizto toilet bowl, how much is the package? Does it align to the wall (meaning no gap between the WC and the wall)? PM me the shop name and price if not convenient to post here. Thanks.
