The Screws For All My Carpentry Work Can't Be Tightened
gettome replied to kamalbensra's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Not necessarily the case. Any self-tapping wood screw will do the job, unless they are using a drilling jig to bore the holes. -
It's not a diy job. You will need a router to trim the edges after lamination, and you will need "F"-clamps to hold the sandwiched panels for 12 hrs until the contact adhesive firmed. You will also need to have new plywood panels.
-
You sure or not?? I do know something about woodworking, but you seems to know more. Come, share with us the process of skillfully "peeling" off old laminate from the panel.
-
No, it's not a brand from Germany, but a local brand of an importer here and is made in China. I remember that sometime this year, someone posted some pix of floorings from this importer, either Firmafloor or Floorrich which are the same, just different packaging. The thread and pix had since been removed, I wonder why.

Supreme Laminated Flooring
gettome replied to gumbokins's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
You surely got "tok". Supreme where got AC5? Don't believe, call Spring Singapore and ask if they gave PSB certification for AC5 to Supreme or any other companies here who claimed to have PSB certification for AC5. Want to claim from company who "tok" you, easy. First, make sure they put in black & white in the sales order that their product is "AC5 according to EN13329", than take a piece of the flooring after installation and send it for testing. Here is a link for testing samples: http://www.taberindustries.com/ The "AC" is a EU standard, as "JIS" is Japanese, so no such thing as "AC" Spore standard. -
Laminated panel cannot be re-laminate. You will have to get new doors for your wardrobe.

Ugly Gap Between Floor Laminates And Doorframe
gettome replied to Tana0005's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
A sweeping statement with seemingly strong conviction. Can you provide a credible and professional source that laminate floors do not expand more than 5mm? Do you have a clue about the standard gap requirement below the wall skirting for expansion? -
Unlike a year ago, there are now scores of European-made laminate floors in the market which are quite affordable. Why risk buying China-made stuff which are not known to be consistant with their qualities?
-
Both ace and power dekor are from the same supplier here, and are "budget" floorings. Both are Chinese products and between the 2, power dekor is more reliable.
-
Drexter, it doesn't works that way Every laminate floor makers would have coated theirs if it is just so simple. The wax coatings will come off in no time with the frictions from expansions and contractions of the installed floor. Parafin wax are impregnated into the boards as a moisture repelling agent (not coated), and that limits the swelling of the board when accident concerning water happens. Do you understand why I called it a gimmick now?
-
You are not the first, neither will you be the last to fall for the fish tank gimmick.

Hi immunity, as someone mentioned earlier, engineered wood flooring generally refers to a layer of real wood surfacing applied on a core board which can be either hdf, plywood, or small blocks of wood joined together to form a board. As to Kronotex calling their laminate flooring "engineered flooring", imo it is valid, as there is a fair bit of engineering involved Definitely, it has a higher degree of validity than Pergo claiming to be the "inventor of laminate flooring". Afterall, which part of the laminate flooring did Pergo invent? The high pressure laminate hpl? NO, the hdf? NO, the balancing paper? NO, the click system? NO So they took a piece of furniture board, cut it to plank size and laid it on the floor, AND that makes them the inventor?? If that is the case, then the first chap who took a piece of marble floor and cut it to size, and than have it for a kitchen top, is also the inventor of the marble kitchen top.

Engineered Wood Flooring Vs Laminate Flooring
gettome replied to steveong's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Engineered wood flooring is much more expensive than even the top-end laminate flooring. It is much cheaper than solid wood flooring though -
Alert! Predator sighted at S'pore Expo today. Now operating under different company name, and different brand of laminate floor. Be Warn!
-
Sorry to hear that. Though it's not my business, I did sound a warning earlier in this thread which seems to be unheeded. Esther192, it has nothing to do with karma, but apathy will allow crooks to continue preying on the unwary.

Few Pieces Of My Laminate Flooring Has Popped Out
gettome replied to shalom73's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Agree! Warranties are Craps. The best warranty as someone mentioned here before, is having the right product and not having to call in for the warranty at all. -
Question On Laminate Flooring At Main Door Entrance
gettome replied to acevin's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Experienced this as well, but so far, no problem with my floor. At the edge where the trim is, sealant was used to prevent water seepage, and my floor joints have clickguard protection. -
There is already a thread; check here http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24535

Which Laminate Flooring Brand Should I Use?
gettome replied to Folks's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Thank you for sharing the information of the Allure products; that they are vinyl and not laminate flooring, and others. Can you cite your source of information, other than the company or their dealer's claim?
