random_username replied to cacabi111's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
anyone any idea which one along stevens road referring to? -
^^^ i think the tortoise referred to earlier is a live one that can either dash to the door or settle comfortable in a part of the house and may have droppings

sorry, i'm out of touch - what's going to be done then?

i gather the "R" refers to return, what of othe other abbreviations? the slipper-singlet-car discussion is cute my own take is that many people are well aware that dressed down folks may have (easily) purchasing power, but perhaps the choice of appearance may indicate the person not so easy to convince to part with $$ (as opposed to not having $$ to begin with), and since the time is limited, it makes sense to try to not spend too much time on the less receptive ones.

my sons want beds with car bedframes - ie. when they sit on the bed is like sitting in a car. i've seen pics of some colorful wooden ones in catalogues in neighbourhood shops, but would like to see actual displays - anyone know where i can go to view? also, are there alternatives to these wooden bedframes but still in car shape? thanks

husband has told me his pay, but i can't remember exact amount down to last penny, just roughly know how much; i also can't remember the exact day of the month he's paid, though he's told me umpteenth times. i've never asked for details either - he wants to tell me, i'll listen, and even after he tells me, no guarantee i can remember (memory retention rate v low lar). he doesn't control what i spend on, i don't even need to ask, but i think that's cos he knows i got internal brake. all that said, i make sure my family is well cared for, the household is well run, payments are timely and savings/investment objectives are met/monitored, so at least there i'm quite on top of things la.

New Cpf Minimum Sum Effective 1 July 2010
random_username replied to musicbox's topic in Finance and Insurance
sorry, just want to ask: 1) second/subsequents properties referred to here are concurrently held properties (ie. own more than 1 property at the same time)? 2) the minimum amount thingy applies to all second/subsequent properties concurrently held, whether or not residential and whether or not pte/hdb? thanks much! -
are you carpetting your full flight of stairs or just those irregular steps? and if just those irregular steps, are you affixing your carpet to the stairs or they're just going to sit on top and be "moveable"? if they are moveable, sounds like it could be slippery should the carpet shift when stepped on; and if the edges curl up, can trip also. i've also encountered that if carpetted stairs are not fitted snugly to the corners of each step, sometimes it gets hard to approximate the edge of the step and also can give rise to tripping - a professional could probably tell you better how to do this properly. my growing up home had flights of stairs which i climbed everyday for 20+ years and yet i tripped and fell though i was familiar with the stairs and had no difficulty with walking - i think it pays to have safety in mind when deciding on stair decor. just my 2cents

since we're young and still looking to build up our financial resources, i'd split the 1.6 to buy 2 apartments, one for occupation and one for rental yield (and hopefully price appreciation should we want to sell it later on). strata units generally (just generally) have better rental yield, and are easier to market when it's time to be sold. if i were to buy a landed property, it would be for self-occupation for the same reasons above and because we like gardening and garden parties (growing up, we used to pitch tents in our garden and have bbq's, totally fun!!)

Buying 2nd Hand Resale But ....
random_username replied to harrymonster's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
it could have been something that didn't bug them when living there and hence did not immediately think to highlight to you unless specifically asked, like somethings are very common to one but uncommon to another. don't upset yourself by second guessing how they could have not mentioned it earlier. new house is happy event :) -
east coast wise, you didn't view the amber gardens or meyer area, near st pat's or other areas closer to the beach? i do love living here. i like it that i can stroll to the beach, parkway parade and katong in the area, it's a quick drive to town - all my immediate family members and in laws live in this area too.

Pay Off Mortgage In Shortest Time Or Longest Time?
random_username replied to Phantom's topic in Finance and Insurance
how about the value of peace of mind which i suppose will differ whether it's the roof over one's head or an investment property, and the owner's age, family commitments etc. Might you elaborate more? thanks
