  1. forgot to upload more 3d pics revised kitchen look#1 revised kitchen look#@ (from the other angle) the grey walls are some special effect wall that looks like cement screed
  2. got shower, mixer, basin tap from grohe @ hafary @ tradehub21...DBS card got discount total damage for 2 bathrooms: 1k+ confirmed using blum for kitchen drawers only (around 6 drawers) total damage: TBA
  3. Reno started today Thursday 21/10... contractor told us that there was some water leakage at master bedroom wall, resulting in brown patches. Tomorrow the town council's contractor will take a look... water and electricity was connected on Tuesday shopping for sanitary and light fittings this weekend and next weekend Fengshui items collected last weekend
  4. long time never update my t-blog. for some unknown reason, i am unable to access RT at work, hence no chance for updates... or was RT forum down??! renovation has started. however, let me blog somethings down so that it serves as "memories".. collection of keys actual date: 14/10/2010 We requested seller if we can go to the unit on 13/10 for 动土. It was only then (few days before supposed to handover keys to us) that they need an extension, as there were some bulky items that they have "no solution" on how to move them out. angry#1: if they could informed us earlier we gave them till friday 15/10 7pm, else it would be saturday daytime. hb went to unit on 13/10 with a shiny new hammer, the whole unit was absolutely empty! angry#2: what the fish!! they have vacated the place totally, why delay in handing over the keys?? spoke to agent (unhappy liao)...and finally he said they have moved out on Tuesday but didn't inform their own agent. finally collected keys on Friday. Our agent collected the keys for us, as we couldn't afford to change the leave from company that we have applied for on Thursday Agent gave me a whole bunch of unlabelled keys in an envelope. After going through them, I was told that "this" would be the main door key. Went to the unit on Sunday night, tried to open the door with "this" key. Unsuccessful .....actually all the keys in the envelope were...........unsuccessful angry#3: how can someone lock the main door and handover keys but without the main door key??! Called agent and started shouting. Ultimatum: Give me at least 2 main door keys and at least 2 letterbox keys (found out later that letterbox keys not included) by next day. I should be starting renovation work by Monday! Monday, agent went to look for seller directly. The seller's agent who is basically a 大炮仔 was simply too fat and lazy to do his share of job. The seller took out his keychain, and took off 2 main door keys on the spot and handover to my agent (????!) Then why can't you handover them to me in the first place??! His reason? They were afraid that on the actual completion date (28/10), if they don't perform the "handover" ceremony infront of HDB officers, they cannot get their $$ 1. their agent did not inform them properly what to do/act 2. we already told our agent that we have indicated that we'll take the keys first to our lawyer and they should not be demanding the keys from seller... agent still said on sunday night "its going to be 28/10 soon anyway, can't you wait till then and get the main door keys?" hello???????? i purchased the unit on the basis that seller will move out 2 weeks earlier. We have a black and white...everyone signs on the letter. And now you are giving me this crap??!
  5. hello gals_mama! aiyah your nick very cute. you have how many gals? you referring to the laminates from kitchen? which ones? the orange or white ones? blur liao im all for orange and other bright colours. we just love bright colours so perhaps will put in some cyan ard the house....clashing right hurhur ...coz no colours left. FSM told us we were only suitable for beige, brown - all the colours we dont like. we are only left with orange, blue etc actually theres not much carpentary works. kitchen is considered normal carpentry works, a large concealed storage, masterbedroom wardrobe. nothing else major.
  6. finally managed to get the pictures of the 3Ds from my ID...super bz guy no time to respond to us. i still feel that their design for this time round is not "wow" enough.... constructive suggestions welcome part of living room. this is a concealed storage. i doubt it looks like a feature wall: the brown door is the main door. balcony. we hacked the wall to have a bench at one side of the balcony. intending to place a TV on the wall opp the bench. for dining and watching tv and playing games: of course, table, lamp, picture frames not inclusive :-) kitchen. im feeling the vibe of the kitchen....but not for the rest of the pictures as usual, chairs not inclusive masterbedroom: bed not inclusive . we will have a wall to separate the toilet door (due to FS issues). which means the toilet door is behind this wall with stripey paint the "feature" at the left is our wardrobe. toilet: both toilets will look the same. hb was responsible for the one in masterbedroom, while i responsible for the common toilet.... after much choosing of tiles n such, we managed to come to the same selection....hurhur ID threw in FOC mosiac strips, but common bathroom will have different colour mosiac
  7. about fiber optic (opennet) the sellers requested that we pay half each for the installation cost. but after reading the news today in ST that there will be a "2nd chance" for those who have opted out initially, & charges would be lower, and we are still on the basis of 50-50 bo bian...take it btw i have something to ask t-bloggers here i see the 3D pictures of my flat. i like it; it looks good, stylish blah blah but i am not "wowed" by the design can i tell my ID? i cant seemed to pinpoint what is lacking but i just cannot find the wow factor... who has the same situation? how do you deal with it?
  8. infinitie my ID will get from blum directly (ubi biz-hub), and they will not charge me a higher price than what would be sold by Blum. so its cost to cost...and i do not have to make a trip down to purchase and go through the hassle... the price im getting from blum myself would be the same price that my ID would be paying (i heard they got rebate system but i dont get the rebates wat geesh) after adding up the prices of the parts, estimated 400-ish. carpenter charge a sum for installing these parts...more or less 900-1000 still thinking, still thinking...
  9. marshmellow wah so fat ur place reno finished liao!! i havent even started leh...sob sob.... btw, i realised that your old marble flooring is more or less the same as mine...but not so much big pcs of those broken looking thing. and decided to cement screed over the marble floor. no more headaches on what to do with the fugly floor (no offense) hey, you only started on study room? how about the rest of the pictures for the other areas?
  10. we went thru the prices in the catalogue...after adding up the prices of the parts...around 500+ then he estimated that carpenter will charge me lumpsum 300-400 for the installation so all in all, a little less than 1k hmmmmmmm its for lifetime but im not sure if i really do need it? btw, me no MC leh...sobsob
  11. ok just to write all these down before my memory starts failing again (which happens many times in a day)... - asked ID to raise height of kitchen countertop by 5cm, subsequently pushing up backsplash then raising the wall cabinets by another 5cm. reason: tall wife (me) and same height hubby. i cannot stand stooping at the kitchen countertop (like now) if i want to peer into my chopping board etc reason: i hate bumping into wall cabinets and especially the hood - asked ID to change wall tiles of common toilet (original colour: white) to the same as master toilet (now colour: grey)...more expensive tiles but did not asked me to top-up, yay! - need to ask ID to design a special place/niche inside the built in storage to store my butsudan (佛壇). therefore, my butsudan can finally be in the living room instead of a bedroom! aye, my butsudan can finally "cong jian kwang ming" :-)
  12. thanks marshmellow i very no mood to do anything (still sick) so i throw this job to my agent liao, dun care anyway i met with my ID last sat...saw pictures of the kitchen, toilet, balcony, masterbedroom, and the super big built in storage... then, i asked my ID if he could fit the kitchen cabinets and drawers etc with blum materials... i have: 6 drawers ~20 doors (cabinets) 1 wall cabinet ID will charge retail price for the blum parts + his carpenter will charge him a lumpsum for workmanship total costs around almost 1k worth it?
  13. hi marshmellow i didnt noticed if the unit that i bought has installed that or not. i checked opennet website and from their rollout, seems like the cluster of blocks are are fiber ready. meaning the work for the blk has been done. and my agent told me that they did not install the opennet...*faintz* i told my agent that its foc and they should install. if they did not, they have to get this done, by hook or by crook....i dun care...no mood to be nice with them liao my reno havent started, only mid october, expected to finish end of november... this saturday will go to ID's place to view the 3D images of the whole unit
  14. hello everyone!! a short hiatus from renotalk, simply because i wasnt feeling well the whole time. i suddenly thought about the fiber optic openNet thingy..... i can see that the block is fiber ready (information from www.opennet.com.sg). but how can i check (not through seller) with openNet if my unit has already installed the fiber? hmmmmmmmm
  15. oh really? ok then i will look forward to your posts in your t-blog yesterday, we gave a deposit to the ID and we were promised with 3D drawings 2 weeks later. and we have to choose laminates + colours etc at that time also, we selected some tiles so that the ID could come up with a more realistic 3D drawing. but i am still not very keen on my toilet wall tile colour......hmmm...
  16. mid october by then, every details has to be finalised, permits applied, fixtures and furniture bought and paid for. because we only have 6 weeks for reno and there's no time to do the shopping during reno
  17. updates: hunt for ID....OVER!! yipee! we used back the same ID we had for our current place. they gave us a qute of 53k *faint*, and after much changes made to the configuration, and haggling in prices, the quotation is at least 10k lesser. I was told that we were given "rock bottom" rates with not much profit for them. bullcrap anyway they were expensive to begin with so we'll have to accept that. next Tuesday we will be going to their office to ink the contract, as well as narrowing down our choices for the tiles & stuff, so that they can come up with some 3d or perspective drawings
  18. hey woody thanks your reno is progressing so d@rn fast. and i like the invisible grilles!!
  19. woody where do you stay? you know, your floor plan is a "photocopy" of mine. except that the balcony is shaped differently for mine. go to my t-blog and you can see the photocopy floor plan!
  20. ossify another defination of "pixelated" means "slightly insane"....that's what i ultimately wish my house to look like - a bit weird, yet uniform ok too contradicting... i "may" be having mosaic floor in kitchen (a portion of it) plus mosaic covered kitchen celing beam...
  21. typing in a post in case this t-blog goes out of the forum... tonight will be meeting one of the designers we have met last last week - this would be our 2nd meeting. we have basically narrowed down our search to 2 designers, so now we are at the stage where we are discussing price... if all fails, we will take the design and pass this to DX.... lots of things happening lately...once everything has been settled, will post more!
  22. that was just a deposit for the design fees since they have banked in the cheque, they have given me another cheque as a refund lor...
  23. ...cont: the hunt for the ID#4 on wednesday, we went to meet out designer who designed our existing place the director designed the place because we went directly to him (he and another sales designer took our project 5 yrs back), and he obliged, although he is not taking up any design jobs. only for referrals, old timers, friends etc i expected something good. because everytime we throw him questions, he had the solution to our problems. he always give us design solutions that serves a function, is liveable, blah blah he came up with 2 proposed design, and even gave me 2 3d visualization of the kitchen. i like the kitchen!! but.....they also came up with 2 quotation, 1 was 20K more than our budget, while the other was 10k more than our budget... we were told that we can mix and match items, do away with stuff with what we want, or do not want.... with the promise of "price can be negotiate further one lah...", we went off after a 2hr discussion on thursday, a designer (whom we had to give them a 1k "design fee" as deposit) met us 1. she was 1 hr late 2. she (or the company) banked in our cheque. horror of horror as this was a cashline account and i did not expect them to bank in as per their promise...so right now i have to pay interest for the 1k.....%^%ERGYUY%%$#$@#$!!! we went onto the design after much scolding... the design was a lot like the rest of the designers who came and went, but they forgot to include the concealed storage that we have requested for so i told her to give me a solution on the spot. she came up with a very feeble solution.... after we finished the meeting in 1.5hrs time, my hb and i looked at each other and said out the same - we are definitely going back to the designer that we met on wednesday. which is the designer who designed our current place. they have the foresight, they know what we want, they proposed living solutions, functionable spaces....bright, bold, a lil industrial & raw just what we wanted with that in mind, we went to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...so tired after all the meeting
  24. wah...so many JE neighbours... yes i agree with you kenn, hardly any HDB developments. I had a hard time hunting for a 4room flat which is near my in-law's place... I was very surprised that the COV is so high in Jurong too. Luckily we paid only 26k cov
  25. welcome!! i agree with ossify - get rid of bedroom#3 you'll get a larger living room
