  1. Aircon trunking adjustments; Sam came down to test the fancoils and to inspect the quality of the work done by his man. Was recommended to adjust my main Hall Fancoil an inch to the right; this is to facilitate maintaince in the future; The maintence team would need to remove the fancoil covers for servicing in future, this would inevitably rip the ugly silicon that binds the small gap on the left (refer to my post #171, 3rd pic) A small cut-out trunking to be replace the thick silicon instead. A call to Aron and he arranged for his man to come down last Saturday; 12th Dec. This was the result of the adjustments. It looks neater as well. It's about time I share his services; Review of Imperial Distributors Sales (knowledge, advice): 10/ 10 Installation (worksmanship): 8/10 Prices : 10/ 10 (cheapest amongst my findings) quality of product/service: 10/10 aftersales: 10/ 10. I've made upteen calls to Aron previously; from initial quires of different brands of aircon to prices. He was always patient and when he's busy he would revert as promised. Altogether, his team made about 4 trips to my place to make sure that my aircon is well taken care of. Would I recommend the shop? Definitely Yes. Keep up the good work.
  2. 08/12/10 (day 30) After several hours of hardwork; I managed to get my Ikea Furnitures in good shape; Manstad sofa-bed We love this sofa, first; it fits my missues' mandatory frabic requirement (I would love leather actualy ), second; it is large L-shape sofa that fits my required size. third; convertable to queen-size sofa bed with storage space. (being limited to a 3-room, we would love to utilise every space we have) fouth; the price is right. Expedit Shelves Deloft display cabinet We were looking for a glass display cabinet to display our toys and collections and find this appropriate. Interested persons look out for it on the 20th dec, it's gng for $59 instead of $85) We will be heading back tomorrow; 13th Dec to grab the Omar Shelving unit. One note: The completed Stall hat rack appears to be too big for our place- we had intended to use it as a shoe rack. Looks like Ikea doesn't accept returns on assembled items http://www.ikea.com.sg/en/service/store-se...turn-policy.asp
  3. Hi Julian.T Your nick looks familar, but I don't recall you have T-Blog I believe that the RT72KASE only comes in white..Thanks, I have been monitoring on this fridge for the longest time. Previously BD is offering the $100 off + camera deal, but I figure I don't need another camera. I purchased it from one of the electrical sale at Expo (by AH), what it matters is they allow me to hold with $79 deposit and includes free delivery as well Sounds like you were eyeing on this unit as well? If my memory didn't fail me, I saw it advertising at $1399 (with free $100 voucher off + $200 ntuc (or was it Giant) voucher.) from yesterdays' papers. Thanks. I'm delighted you benefited from my insights, please go ahead & extract, comment. At the end of the day, we are here to share our renovation journey.
  4. Thanks steelze, I was initially intending to get robina laminates, but when they offer me an irresistable price for the pergo laminates, I signed with them without hesistation. heh Yes, love the grains selection, looks quite look timber Yupz, I overlay my previous tiles directly. Learnt that your renovation is progressing well and congrats for getting a good deal Thanks chang2, I assume you are a 3-roomer? $15 maybe a bit tight, but I believe I have come across forumers whom has done up with this budget. Have PMed you the contacts. All the best for your selection. Like you I have a budget, however I'm blessed with generous relatives
  5. Wow, didn't know there's so many layers of paint residing on the grills. Agreed with steelze. Thumbs up with your determination. Jia-you!
  6. Saw at Macy's at Perth previously. No, it is nowhere cheaper. In fact it is more expensive with the strong Aussie dollars. Was told by a word of mouth that the fan is not effective during a warm day, as it doesn't circulate the air like a normal fan. Basically, it blows laterally warm air. I'm not sure how valid his claims are as the fans on demo are all within air-conditioning. cheers.
  7. Hi Reiki, Thank you for sharing your drool-worthy home. It is absolutely beautifully and tastefully done. Just realised that your place is already been some 2 years old already. Is there anything you can share with us that you could have done bettter? or without? remembered you mentioned about your island hood issue.. Just realised my contractor did something similar, love the trunkingless look. it's much cleaner. Three long months, but it is certainnly worth the wait isn't it? I gave my contractor 2 months for my little 3-room (cos I wouldn't be moving in anytime soon anyway)
  8. Oh yes, the kinect was priced at $469 at the expo now that you hav mentioned. will look forward to your review of this game console soon, And prehaps edward and I may get it together for a better bargin? group-buy? Welcome, I'm sorry that $2.99 deal. nevertheless at $3.55psf, it is still cheaper than most other (or should I say "all" other) stores. Visited a neighbourhood store, was retailing $7.5psf for the same brand I was offered weight your choices and good luck.
  9. Welcome to renotalk, Looks like plenty of room for transformation ;P (funny that your floorplan's all those thick bold lines, can these walls be hacked?) yea, 20 days' a tight squeeze for hacking works inclusive. Nevertheless, wishing you a smooth reno journey.
  10. Hi Sam, It seems like your renovation is about to be completed. Is your contractor able to help you with your mirror> Else are you able to change your drill to those hammer-drills? Those are capable of mansory walls. All the best

  13. Nice Entertainment systems. Think most of (guys) take pride in this area of the house On the same note; I'm eyeing on WII or Xbox Kinect as well, remembered it costs about $270 for WII (1 controller) from Sitex. I've gotten a quote for curtains for $325 for 2.8m x 2.4m including tracks + installations Have PM you classic interior furnishing liaoz. You have an eye for details neubie.
  14. Thanks mae29, Yes,the final product fabulous. I noticed that the laminates amplified the noises when things are dropped onto the floor. Folds? Corners are achieved with F-joints if I didn't get it wrong. Hi ahhnam The ajoined Shower+WC turned out great, a little cramp neverthless due to the shared space with the walkway. My renovation is completing soon, stay tuned for the finished product I think I got what you mean, where the whole slap of wall are dark bold lines. in that case I don't know if it is worth parting your kitchen space aset your walk-way linking your bedroom to shower+wc. Prehaps you can get your ID's opinion?
  15. Cool, nice to know that sofa beds lasts. I'm excited to fix up my Ikea stuffs, loads of stuffs were just delivered to my place yesternight. Noted, thanks.
  16. Just to share; I did a little homework on the feasibility of having the LED strip for cove lights for my hall as well. Sure enough, as shared by Dr.Anarchy, one of the lights guy (from IMM bestech) mentioned that one LED would consume some 1 watt of power. However digging deeper though a webby (with intention of purchasing) www.ledlightsworld.com, published that 1 LED would consume actually only 0.08W Neverthleless after some calculations, I conquer with Dr.Anarchy that it is still more convenient to have T5 over LEDs. In a nutshell, should I have 24feet of LED strip, it would costs me $222 (inital purchase costs, including transformer, connector, excluding shipment from the ledlightsworld) running at a mere 37Watts. Electricity bill will amount to about $20.56 annually assuming I switch on 5hours daily over a year. Cmp to 6 T5 tubes which would amount to $90 (from lightings.com.sg) running at 168Watts. Electricity bill will amount to about tp $93.36 annually on the same assumption of 5 hours daily over a year. So there you have, LED would save up to 78% however it will take some 2 years to breakeven And assuming that the individual LED still maintain its performance. Having the LED strip installed in my current home 2 years ago, I withness some 5 LEDs out of 3m of LEDs already fused. My 2-cents worth.
  17. Different Edmund reglxt, Froggy and I using Edmund from A-Decor. there are guidelines from National Kitchen and Bath Association actually. But most importantly the height of the hood is determined by recommendations from your manufacturer of your hood. they will specify what is the optimum height from the worktop. Any higher it will not be efficient. Meanwhile the height of your cabinet worktop is determined by you & your spouse's (or whomever is using the kitchen) elbow's height minus about 10cm. Can be found from Hettich website
  18. Sounds like you have an experience with Mr Chew, would you mind PM me his charges e.g the area with tracks installation? I'm looking for one. This is so familar, sometimes I wonder what are we paying good money for the top cabinets (to box up the beam?) well, least you had a witty way to utilise the narrow place froggy. Thanks froggy, will try it. Ya, both of us were so very disappointed. We set our eyes on this colour even as before renovation started. Edmund offer an alternative; India Granite worktop.. at additional $500 bucks.. Sorry I don't quite understand what you mean by "waiting for his two people", will poke for you when he comes. ok? Yes, there's actually more than one Edmunds here in renotalk
  19. Gimz, are you refering to ikea rollerblinds over made to measure? For 2 reason why made to measure; 1) At $2.99 psf. I think that is as low as it can gets, it amounts to about $200 cmp to $187 should I purchase from Ikea. 2) I have this pretty long stretch of sliding window that measures 2.05m, and the largest Tuppler blind can cover is only till 2m. Hence I would very much love to have one piece of blind that covers the whole area rather than 2 pieces side-by-side with a gap in the middle. 3) quality- tbd All these are based on my current assumption; will have to go negotate with the curtains installer and see what they have to offer. Will feedback again Oh, what I meant to say is love the neatness of the whole wall, despite that the electrical trunkings are already laid long time before, the skirting just skim below the trunkings nicely. Oh yes, it really makes a different and the place is really dusty as you shared. And I'm a little paranoid about using water to clean up the laminates.. As you can see from the pic; it's still pretty dirty after they sweep up the area.. I do understand what you mean Froggy, then again, all these locks are just means to delaying entry of any buglary. Should one really had the intention of breaking into your house, what is there to stop him?
  20. Ritez, answering my own quiries; A bit of homework; Will be engaging the home classic interior furnishing. The guys will be doing site measurements tomorrow. Let's see how it goes.
  21. Thanks for the measurements and price of the glass cabinet Yuen, I will go for Ikea's Detolf in place of that To safeguard your modesty; May i share my homework on the contacts for curtain; I will be engaging "Home classic interior funishing", they will be dropping by tomorrow for site measurement
  22. Oh yes, now that sounds so familar, I was in your shoes previously. I got a violent objection my my missue as well, she finds it attention seeking and no comfortable. However now that after it is install, she's rather intrigue by it and getting the hang of it. Being active sports person, i added that we don't have to lug our keys next time should we go for a run or even a ride. Just to share: given another chance; this would a better manner to install the maingate over the digital lock;
  23. 011210 (day 30) -Laminates installation Why Pergo? (source: floorxpert) Since 1977, PERGO laminate flooring has offered high-quality, stylish, true look of real wood, tile or stone at an often substantially lower cost to the masses. Its durable and easy-care features of laminate flooring have emerged as one of today's most versatile and popular flooring options. PERGO laminate flooring consists of a three-layers Aluminium Oxide surfaces as constructed of a protective wear layer over a decorative sheet containing the pattern, which is supported by a two-layers of rigid core body and a bottom balancing layer to help prevent warping. The result is one tough flooring that resists fading, dentation, stains, scratches and moisture. In fact, laminate floors frequently outlast real hardwood floors, tile or stone floors. PERGO laminate flooring also brings the look of natural hardwood flooring to rooms where the real timber materials could not be used due to its moisture concerns. However, because laminate flooring offer a better moisture and stain resistance than many natural materials and at a lower cost, it creates exciting, new flooring decorative possibilities. With its 50 years of non-prorated warranty from manufacturer, PERGO laminate floors are also excellent for use in virtually any high traffic areas in both residential and commercial premises. We've got you covered. My Pergo Family lamimates have arrived, and it took the team of 2 one full day to install the laminates for my Hall and both bedrooms The choice of our selection are Platinum Teak and Wooden Chocolade Pergo Family: Class of use: 31 Warranty: 15 Years (Residential), 2 Years (Commercial) Dimension: 1288mm x 196mm Thickness: 8mm Weight: 7.43kg/m2, 15.0kg/pack, 920kg/pallet Suface: Armed Overlay Suface Texture: Deep Emboss or Normal Texture Core Material: High Density Fibre Board Backing: Melamine Resin Based Balancing Layer Build-in Soundbloc: No Joint: Glue Free Pergo Patent Click System (SmartLock) Joint Sealing: Yes Bevelled Edge: No Formaldehyde Emission: E1 Completed floorworks at the Hall Completed floorworks at common room I love the way the electrical trunking hug onto the skirting (or is it the other way around)
