  1. Agree with samgalz, these pastels colours contribute to a cheerful enviroment.
  2. Thanks for sharing het. I was ogling over the simmons lack series once upon a time, thinking that expensive is good. I saw the Richmond model from courts previously, it's a latex with memory foam, Queen size, retailing at $2600 with storage divan. How long have you been in use of this matress, may I ask?
  3. Nice to see another Ossify project. what more another 3-roomer Ossify may I ask what's prefab walls? Prefrabricated walls? Is there anyway to identify them? Is only after the application of demolition of walls?
  4. Haha, that's funny. If not for this thread, I wouldn't understand why would anyone pay an exhorbiant price for a tap Anyway, one of the dealers adviced that; for taps go for Grophe and for showers go for Hansgrophe.
  5. think you have answered your own question. Likewise, I've invested in Hansgrophe/ Grohe items. The Hansgrohe dealers from Bertz & Co at Park Mall weren't pushy and were pretty friendly. I enjoyed my shopping experience there. However I purchased my items from AOS Bathroom Specialist eventually. FYI: was infomred that the hansgrophe 25% off deals ends by GSS, July 25th. cheers
  6. From what I've gathered from this thread, seems like my hunt for sealy/ simmon beddings are very much down the drain. Learning that what I may ended paying for is probably only branding (afterall, one is made from Thailand and another of overrated old technology). So do advise me if I'm wrong, I should probably try out the mattress (disregarding the brand), find one comfortable pocketcoil mattress and top it up with an additional pillowtop (learning that those plushy pillowtop foams would give after several years)? Any brands to start off? 4 stars? Kingcoil? thanks thanks
  7. Thanks for the clarification ossify Me thinks this is nice to have at the kitchen/ tv console area, if your budget allows. Meanwhile the plugs may cost cheaper from those quarterly PC/ IT/ Commex thingy.. should Eubiq has a booth. And congraluations on the commencement of your big project.
  8. Gals_mama; thanks for sharing the Eubiq souce, will KIV that. Ossify; since you put it that way, Does that mean that the track will always be 'charged'? Does it consume electricity even when no appliance is plugged, plug is rotated to 'off'? Keen to get one for yourself too, Froggy?
  9. Yes, I'm the culprit. Guilty as charged. My place is a 3-room apt at Toa Payoh, check out my sig. Items such as Oven; was considering between Electolux against Ariston. Brandit & Bosch seemed to be the hot pick but rather costly IMHO. My rational was to keep it below $899, a basic oven, 3-layered glass door (child safety) to serve our needs; not that we're going to use it everyday prob max once or twice a month. I narrowed down to electrolux 53000 (off my budget), however I remembered seeing it letting go at $899 ONCE at courts.. I'm still bargain hunting.. heh. else will likely be a 31001. Are you satisified with your oven purchase? Likelywise, same rational for the soft-close system; Blum is nice to have but it's gonna rip a hole in my wallet. I'm cool with Excel, it's functional and served its purpose. One thing that Blum has tt others don't is their corner unit and sink unit as well as the inner drawer. Do you need the pricelist? Yes, series 7 and above is a 3D, the more appealing and higher range ones are the new release 8000s and 9000s. Just saw that Havey Norman has a citibank promo, UA-40C7000WM + 3D Bluray+ starter kit@ $4298, free $500 voucher (think can instant wavier) & 22" LCD TV. In a nutshell, you get an additional tv for $3798 40" LED set. http://www.harveynorman.com.sg/promotions/promotions.php My fiancee wants a WIW, hence I was watching out for those 'pole-system' wardrobe. The best quote i get would costs some $1400. Edmund's able to do one for $1k. So, it's a bonus for me As for the storage bed divan, I learnt that it will cost about $999 to get the one in your pic, it would definitely cost less with a mattress, but we are eyeing on Sealy. How much did you pay for yours? Did you get it from absoulute bedding btw?
  10. Congrats Froggy, on your collection of your keys. Fernvale Vista certainly sounds familar Finally located the Edmund's client at Fernvale. I must apologise for Edmund, he was held up at my place last Sunday, sorry to keep you waiting. After browsing your t-blog, I'm happy to find out that we share several common "want-to-buy" things I've decided to engaged Edmund for this services as well, found him to be ernest. More importantly my fiancee I and felt comfortable with him. Just recieved a quotation from him not too long, thought not the cheapest amongst the rest, he did throw in some stuffs which i initially thought of getting on my own I believe Edmund woul have shared about this Korean softclose mechanism? It is available from excel, costs some $20 per runner, which is quite a savings from Blum. May I share this website on viewing distance, It may be a better guide to select your desire television screen size http://myhometheater.homestead.com/viewing...calculator.html and calculator to convert from inches to metres Personally I'm eyeing on a 40" Sumsung series 7 Audio House maybe a good place to hunt for TVs, you may try your luck there Did you manage to secure the storage divan for your bed and the Electrolux Oven? hehe. I'm eyeing on the above items as well.
  11. Molecule, located at Great world city & Orchard central, carries an array of these furnitures. I had my eyes fixed on one of the csave-saving coffee table convertables from the Orchard Central branch. remembered they are retailing the 'yoyo' for $2,300 and one of the coffe-tables for $3,700. http://www.resourcefurniture.com/space-sav...e-saving-tables The price is too steep to my liking despite the 15% GSS off. Alternatively, XZQT offers a similar furnitures from calligaris, also from Italy. It's located at ION, Kaki bukit & Pandan Crescent. Visited the ION branch, and was pleased that the similar coffee table convertables are offered at a lower price. E.g 'Flexy' for $1988 & 'Magic-J' for $2488 (prices before GST+Delivery). With GSS, most products are gng for 30% less + additional 7.5% for Amex cards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJAV3E8DdTE...feature=related Hope this helps. I'm certiainly eyeing on it.
  12. Honestly, the gain city expo does offer one of the lowest priced items I've ever seen. Here are the items that I've been eyeing on; LG WD1484ADb 8kg washer/4kg dryer, best offer@BestDenki-$1099-$50; GC-$999 Samsung RT72KASE refrigator, best offer@BestDenki-$1199-$50; GC-$1129 Panasonic NNCS 597 steam Oven, best offer@BestDenki-$499; GC-$443 However, most untimely, they cannot hold the item for my pro-longed period till dec, hence have to pass this sweet deal. Was told that next such sale will be ard Feb 2011. Not sure about the a/c already added extended warranty thingy need to check this out..
  13. Hi, greetings from a fellow 3-roomer. You toilet looks big and spacious Hopefully, your titling will look better after completion.
  14. Best in Singapore and JB- the contractor story, I started scouting for I/Ds and contractors in my early phase of shopping, this started some 2 months ago Pior that I have some idea what kind of layout I was looking for. My inspiration came from those previous 50k COV homes whom had done up their places like what the property ads called "A-decor", as well as our local mags, "Home&Decor & Home-styles", various websites and not forgetting our Renotalk contributors. With all this in mind, I managed to pieced up a conceptualised floorplan, The major inclusion would be the combined WC/ shower room accessible via MBR with washbasin, a WIW in MBR, a concealed TV console with HTS. An L-shaped kitchen cabinet with drawers systems, supporting basic cooking with baking requirements. With the aid of www.floorplanner.com and our $5 floorplan purchased from HDB,I developed my 2-D drawing. Eventually after 3 revision (mainly due to relocating our WIW in the already clamped bedroom, we ended with the (more or less) final draft of the floorplan concept as shared. With that, we proceeded to the different IDs and contractors for itemised quote, to get an apple-for-apple comparision. These included some popular IDs that were recommended from the forumers; 1) Winston from NOVA tradehub My very first encounter with contractor, don't have much expectation. He was honest to ask me look for my own plumber/ electrician as it will be more costly to include into the list. Called for 2nd appointment after some changes in my floorplan (revision 2). Found that quotation were rather costly though. 2) Outlook Interior from IMM. Was initially attracted by the blum system on display and the "promo package" that comes with free hob+hood+sink for the kitchen cabinet, I took the bait. Shared my requirements and budget on the first meet, the ID shared that it is not possible to match but she can try. Eventually the quotation overshot my budget by 40% where I waited an hour the the last minute work. Can tell that she wasn't very keen, probably thought that I was only fishing for quote. Moved on. 3) Edmund from Adecordesign A month passed w/o reply, despite subsequent email reminders. No response. Was about to moved on untill I decided to call again. Made an arrangement to meet up the following day. Edmund was there on time and sincere, understooded our requirements and the followed up with a quote 3 days later as promised. 4) Henry from Impress21 He was responsive and quick to reply to the quotations I wanted. 5) Ronald from DesignerHouse Also another responsive contractor, did mentioned about a weeks grace as he was busy at the moment. A week later he responded the following day with the quote after one reminder. I'm impressed with this response and his quotation was close to our expectation. Certainly one of the cheapest contractor I've shortlisted. 6) Mr Yeak from basic Image Like Edmund, there's no response in email after one month. Called several times but he shares that he's tight. Eventually he replied that he is unable to commit. Moved on. 7) Henry from I.D Note Another busy I.D, shared that He will be busy till end of the month to call back thereafter. I responded, eventually he pass my contact to his colleague Mr Goh. Met up with Mr Goh in this office, eventually the infamous Henry also turn up with another client. Not very comfortable with Mr Goh (personal feel), He was nice though quote turned up to be slightly costly (prehaps I had high expectation from some forumers). Moved on. IMHO: As starters, do your homework and shortlist at least 3 contractors for quotation, preferrably with positive feedback. (do note that these feedback maybe biasied though) Give them a chance; some contractors do not read their email (I saw my emails all unread from one of the IDs. Blah!), Hence, a better option is to call them and meet up for quotation, tell them face to face your requirements/ budget. The experienced ones will tell you the face if your idea is feasible and may recommend some suggestions. My 2-cents worth.
  15. Thanks leechaorui. But it would take a long while, ETC reno before 2011. heh yes, yes, we were told that the very early tiles are more solid and durable. I have in the mind to preserve this mosaic for my kitchen to save money. Probably to do a clean-up or eproxy paint job. However never did I realised that the spray paint will set me $900+ (from Faithcoat/ colourtrends paints) Contractor advise me to over tiles (was told that 1 layer over the original tiles is acceptable) that would amount the same price.. Mosaic/ HT? Thanks curryqueen, we were blessed as the whole blk went through Main upgrade programe during feb 2000. hence that somehow expains the condition of the pipes. I will retan the rear windows as well. yes yes. However I'm thinking of the modern/ minimal style of look. Hence the gate/ louvre window/ switch will be replaced. Yes, there's a 76mm drop for the old school 'spalsh and wash' concept. Yes, I will make sure the owner removes his cupboards
  16. retro black switch, rewiring is a must, noticed there's even no trunking sink before the Shower; Sink definiately to go. Thought i could retain the slab of wall behind and continue with my extended dry area from the shower, contractor shares that it's too thick; better to rebuild. Hiaz more costs to add. Shower area; notice the sewage pipe on left will pose an issue to the entrance to from the MBR WC area;
  17. enough of talking, now for some visuals; Current state of the apartment Main Entrance; Original Hall; Mosaic Floor; kitchen_left; kitchen_right;
  18. Yea, the idea of consolidating the 3-roomers dawned on me when i recalled supersimon's 'henner-club'. heh maybe can add a sig with hyperlink of the 3-roomers? hmmm.. Thanks lilithfiend, wedding+reno+work+sch = non joke. (i'm sure marshmallow will agree with me on this neverthless, this reno thingy certainly gets me pumping. haha, that will be cool.
  19. Today was out 1st appointment, Our HDB officer was nice, he learn that we were much in a hurry And facilitated the process smooth and quickly, took an hour and half of waiting , signing of papers and subsequently made our payments. We are now Eight weeks to 2nd Appointment. We returned to our unit to view the place and arranged the contractor for a site-visit. Everything was hasty as we need to rush off for our Wedding Boutique's 1st appointment in within an hour. Phew. More to follow..
  20. Thanks Supersimon, you always make me us feel welcome Hi adam72, I signed the OTP before knowing the valuation price actually. there's a similar unit on a low floor which we viewed before, that fetched bout $270k. Ours a high unit. Eventually, the valuation price came to be $280k + $8k COV. We are blessed. Hi marshmallow Looks like we're in the same situation, juggling wedding prep and reno together. All the best for your work. No prob, prehaps we should start a 3-roomer thread? where new 3 roomers can click to get some ideas?
  21. Hi marshmallow, That is the view of Chinese garden isn't it? Your apt looks spacious! I totally feel you, certainly not an easy feat juggling all the stuffs at the e same time. My fiancee and me are in the same shoes; preparation for our wedding as well. She's looking into the wedding stuffs while me here in reno. heh All the best for your renovation, let me know if you need any help.
  22. hello Ossify senseh, thanks for pointing that out, I'm going for a front load W/M for water saving properties I've calculated that there's is 60cm of space bet the two objects. Earlier consideration was to extend 80cm for the sink structure, however added additional 25cm, when i considered having the Blum corner unit hence amounting to 105cm. Alternatively I could rotate the W/M counter-clock wise to face the Utility room for the 70cm of space. What do you think?
  23. Thanks Jaskel! You seemed to be the Reno-guru here, lots of things to learn from you. Hello lynd3ralla, I got a bit K.S and decided to start my own TBlog, can't stand the suspense anymore. LoL Goodluck to you. Curryqueen & Lilthfiend, hello fellow 3-roomers. Great to see your progress, motivates people like us whom are just starting out. Jia-you! Hello Samgalz, I have yet to choose an ID. FInd that this I/D term is used quite loosely here.. hmm, neverthless, I've shortlisted a few; awaiting for ONE final quote
  24. Hello curryqueen, thanks for dropping-by. Congrats on your key collection, happy to hear that the previous owners managed to clear their stuffs in due time Yea, the reno-cost has always seem to be escalating, when suddenly you realse you need to add this and that, Have you finalise your i/d or contractor? All the best!
