thanks for the suggestion...actually thinking hard on the yamaha 767 and onkyo 708 due to the standby pass thru hdmi and the 3d content....thgt can upgrade the speaker in the near future when have a bigger budget for that. the link you provide is useful. will look around there also. thanks

yup unless the avr has the ability to play the 3D disc. http://www.yamaha.sg/Receivers_RX-V767.html for example, an 767 can only support but doesn't have ability to play the the disc. i have yet to see an avr that can play the 3d disc...perhaps i did not find hard enough...

well if i'm not wrong, you will definetely need an 3d blu ray player for playing 3D...unless you are using samsung conversion 2D-->3D tv....i try viewing a few model of the tv not using the original source from the player. the effect don't really seem to be good. without an AVR, you wont get nice audio output. you can still play 3d content via 3d blu ray player without an AVR.

include the onkyo 708....any chance to get a average 5.1 system? prefer those boston size one...

i don think in anycase you should return the 20k or rather 40k cpf grant as you are already deprive of buying a new house. if you buy the new house then i fully agree that you must cough out the 20k or even 40k or rather should proceed the standard levy against you. however the rule that say you are not allow to buy around the neighbourhood or more than 2km is really nosense from them. like one of the advice given here. keep calling them and even go down and look for the hdb officer who will be handling the 1st appointment for the house. appeal is really needed in this case....
