  1. My little Pony? Brilliant! LOL Gosh, what did your mom feed you? I want my monkeys ... i mean kids to be clever like you. Can get My little Pony from Mega or not? Who gives better discount? Ace or Allan? I am just a little funny (not shy hor?) but you are bloody intelligent (i'm sure you know that already ) I'm pretty sure I'll like them. Will let you know after i read them but you might have to wait... speed reading skills have deteriorated with age and the aging body needs it's beauty sleep.
  2. No breakdown for the construction of the meter box itself. He charged me a lump sum $11k+(ouch!) to upgrade the power from phase 1 to phase 3, construction of the new meter box at the front gate, relocating all the water, electricity, starhub, fibre optics and singtel main to the new meter box. Not sure if PE endosement is required. However, we have to follow the guidelines set by BCA regarding the dimension of the meter box. Your contractor should know the approved dimension. The BFG Our meter box is the biggest in our neighbourhood, like the BFG. Am feeling a bit intimidated by it. Still wondering why it has to be so big while the rest can be small and discreet. Maybe contractor kiasu, scared cannot pass inspection. (forgot to inform him not keeping elephant there now, will keep in the underground bunker suggested by Pinktini). Luckily my ID with excellent taste (IDWET) will do something to camouflage it.
  3. Matthew Reily... here i gallop! Four Kids to Mind, Three Meals to Cook, Two Months to Completion, One house to Renovate. But will read the best books you have read! Maybe can find inspiration and brilliant ideas for reno.
  4. Did not take down the serial no. Its the one next to the cashier counter. They still have the small one in grey but the 1.6m x 2.3m grey colour is sold out. Lucky you got yours. My friend also bought beige brown. Which size did you buy? Are you going to put it in your living room?
  5. Oh... from my speed reading, me think you are kidding too. Unless my reading too speedy, miss out all the sacarsms. No apologies required k. You want the TRUTH? You cant handle the TRUTH! The truth is i went for Bosch. Hmm... i wonder if Titanax will say he stay in hdb also got people want to imitate. Hee..hee
  6. Gosh pinktini! What's another word to describe a fantastic idea? Your ideas are simply Brilliant!! You could possibly be the next JK Rowling. Tell your husband not to bug you anymore when you do your marathon reading, you are doing your research. Can i be the first in line to get your autograph?....make that 7, one for each member of my family..hee hee Actually have a dam (long kang) around the house now. Will ask my son's scout leaders to build a drawbridge to save cost. Now we just need to find Breehy Hinny Brinny Hoohy Hah or any thoroughbred that is white. Any idea where to get?
  7. Went to the Lifestorey warehouse sale, yes, AGAIN. Suppose to buy 3 rugs for living, family and Master bedroom but only managed to buy one greyish rug. The another one was sold out . Sigh...that's the problem with being too cautious. Wish i was more impulsive.....sigh again. The Great Singapore Shower Never expected the flood that cost much damage to orchard road has descended right at the doorstep of my new house. Was told by the worker who was staying in the new house that the master bedroom and family hall was flooded cos we have not installed windows yet. The secret storage space at the window of master bedroom became a mini swimming pool. He spent some time emptying the trough. Now i am worried about my "Al fresco" toilet if the Great Singapore Shower is going to be a permanent event in Singapore. Hang on, actually it might be a good thing. We could multi-task, we could have a rain shower while pooing. Yippee
  8. Will i hurt your feelings if i told you i did not buy THAT sofa? But on a brighter note....at least a dozen other people did.. hee..hee
  9. As a testament to your exquisite taste, I saw a couple with a little girl buying THAT sofa this afternoon. (NOT kidding) Wanted to congratulate them on their excellent choice : "hi mdm/sir, congratulations! You are the 17356 person buying this sofa" (kidding)....Hee,hee Btw I did not buy the sofa lah (serious), was just pulling your leg. Not getting the following appliances also Fridge - Samsung RS21HNEPN, Rinnai RB-3CG / 2CG hob, Fujioh NL 900, Brandt FC842XS1 & ME630XE1, Samsung WD8804CJZ (Just cut and paste from your t-blog) Will copy cat Titanax instead, going for solid German firewood and leak proof WM.
  10. I love big and tall bookshelf with ladder too! Saw one double storey bookshelf with movable ladder in Home and Deco magazine some time again - Gorgeous! (can still visualize it) Underground bunker is an excellent idea. Not only can hide all our junk, can also hide from my kids..hee..hee That scenario at the book fair is just an exaggeration lah. You sure are one speed reader. The last time I did a marathon reading session was a few years ago reading Dan Brown's Angels and demon. Cant afford that luxury nowadays.
  11. What about this one? Its an Elkay, square sink with rounded edges. It's definitely easier to clean than those with angular edges. I have one in my previous house, got to use toothbrush to clean the edges after every use.
  12. Sorry folks, too tired to write, some pics of things I bought Elkay 2 bowl undermount sink. Bathtub for master bedroom toilet. Small and cute, a good size for bird bath.
  13. Want to employ me? Am tired being a chauffeur. Need a better job to pay for reno. looks familiar? You forgot 1 more...I am wicked too. Calling my kids monkeys and making fun of them to milk laughs...Indispicable Me.
  14. We love to buy books too. Unfortunately for our pockets and storage space, we live 5 minutes away from expo. We have obtained VIP (very impatient people) status at all the book warehouse sales organised by Times/MPH/Borders/Popular etc. Yap, you have seen us before... first in line with our market trolleys before the doors open. Grab 574 books, find a corner, read half of them on the spot, chuck those above $5 and go home happily with the rest.
  15. Was hesitant to start my t-blog initially cos i have no experience in renovation, no technical knowledge in appliances, no interest in wiring and no taste in general....in short, cant contribute much. Well its good to know that at least it is entertaining I love holding a real book too and have the same problem like you... running out of storage space. So we have instructed ID to build more storage. Told her we want something like the wardrobe in The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe.....can open the back of the wardrobe and store all our books, clothes, toys etc in someone else's backyard rent free. She said she will try. How sweet! Here's a look at the secret storage under our dining bench. It will be covered with chengai wood strip. We have a similar one on the 2nd floor in the Master Bedroom.
  16. Thanks again, Ossify, for the wealth of information. Change of plans again. Will be using black glass instead of granite. Hopes it looks nice.
  17. Did not have a good experience with Fisher and Paykel. Fridge kaput one month sort of the 3 year warranty...and every month after that. Fridge was always not cold even after repair. Big chunks of ice formed at the back of the fridge. We were advised by repair man to use hair dryer to melt the ice.... Btw it was made in Thailand.
  18. Definitely going again this weekend to check out the rugs too. But minus the monkeys cos the zoo keeper is back. It was her off day last weekend and it was disastrous to bring untamed animals furniture shopping (luckily they are toilet trained, am not going to pay for 4 soiled sofas however cheap it might be). The kartell Componibili (cabinet) is a classic especially if your house is a modern theme. They have white, red, black and silver. I bought 3 tall black ones ($148 each) and a short red one ($98 each) last friday for the kids rooms. Went home feeling happy and waiting for everyone to compliment me on my good taste and not forgetting a keen eye for bargain. Alas, the self importance was immediately brought down to earth when the boxes were opened. "Why black mommy? we want RED! Black is ugly!" Shrieked the ungrateful bunch. So, is Red the new black now? So much for the generation gap.
  19. All white. Its classy and timeless.
  20. Hey there Mr Postman An updated picture of my meter box cum letter box cum newspaper box. The slot for letters/newspapers seems too high, good for giraffes but not humans. Will check with contractor to see if there is anyway to make our hardworking postal and media workers job easier. The inside view of the post/newspaper box. Its so huge, we can keep our spare tyres...
  21. Thanks ossify for the kind offer. Will keep that in mind. Any problem in using granite for vanity top? What about marble basin? is it difficult to maintain?
  22. All men are boys in disguise lah. We have more or less settled on Panasonic 50" plasma but cant decide on which series. We are also looking at either Sony EX4 32" LCD or Panasonic 32" LCD for the family area. He will be more than happy to check out the TV specs (not forgetting Megan Fox's specs ) cos he is quite depraved, can only watch TV after the kids have gone to bed. You see, I belong to the school of thought that proclaim "too much TV for Kids will kill/alter/reprogramme their brain cells". Better read more books if you want to be a genius. However, the irony is that we are going to have 3 TV sets at the new house....this decision was met with disbelief by our friends, "why so many? you guys dont watch TV!" Errmm....can bai mei, i suppose. ...yes the squirrel in Ice Age cracks (pun intended) me up. Really admire his determination
  23. Ok. Will head down there this weekend. Will park hubby in front of the TV section. Now that the world cup is over, he will be contended watching cars being blown up or scantily clad women with huge bosoms running away from decepticon ..... while I slowly climb to the 6th floor
  24. Thanks leechaorui for your kind words. You made my day! But dont let my kids read this. They think that I am a strict, no nonsense hyperventilating mom with a perpetual toothache (urrghhh..STop IT!..Grunt, grunt..swearing under breath..You gonna Get IT!) and botak head (child induced, self inflicted). Yes shopping for the house is both a joy and a pain. Its an emotional roller coaster for me. Wah..that light is NICE!! What.. No stock?? Good, can order! What? So expensive? Yeah, got discount What? wait so looong!! Its also very time consuming to go round comparing prices but the satisfaction is enormous when one lands with a good bargain. And most importantly, to procure the most beautiful lamp/sofa/table/bed/TV/oven/fan/basin/tap/WC etc Expecting some delivery of the fruits of my labour today. Will post pix.
