Yalor... bo bian... I looked at your quote below: PLUMBING WORKS To supply labour to install 01 nos. of toilet bowl To supply labour to install 01 nos. of washing basin with connect with mixer To supply labour to install 01 nos. of instant heater To supply labour to connect sink and mixer tap To supply & change existing pipe to stainless steel pipe for whole unit Which part of your item refers to the hotwater point? Or you also top up separately like me?
-
noo.. quote never mention anything abt water points. i browsed thru all my other quotes from various ID /contractors, none of them will quote for hot water point. is it some kind of strategies these guys are playing???
-
yea... that toilet paper holder will be at a dry areain the bathroom. =) ID just told me that for hot water point, i need to pay additional $90 for each point. I am doing for 2 shower mixers for both bathrooms, and a sink mixer for the master bathroom. Total 3 = $270!!! Is this considered hidden costs!?!? He said quote only run cold water piping point. $90 for one hotwater point!? Isnt this too much? Very buay song now!

not sure abt james either... they have quite a few IDs. so long u feel good with ur ID, should be ok bah... their IDs all not bad in general... quite experience and flexible... only problem i face with my id is that he is a very busy person lah... biz good, no choice. haha.. -

hi reizzz, congrats to ur successful reno journey. wanna ask u abt the glass swing door. what is the purpose of the teardrop latch? can i install a swing door without that? i heard there is force-spring kind of glass swing door. so confusing... arghzz.

I probably need a custom made mirror for my master bathroom. got cheap lobang? probably 60cm by 100cm in size.

Congrats! I am looking forward to ur t blog of reno adventure ahead! Where is ur place? When the hacking begins?? Exciting! Mine is wip now. So far so good with sds and my id, *****. -
thanks for the much needed advice! i noted that ExcelHW also selling pole system for WIW. Emailed them my requirement, but havent rec their reply. Any opinion on it, neubie?

how's ur progress there? mine finished plastering yesterday. but living room floor tiles and skirting still undone. next monday is electrical work and air con work. dunno if the workers can finish by then or not... anyway, where is ur 5-room located at? the unit looks new. surely younger than my 20 years old unit.
-
Day 15 Work completed: Plastering for whole whole ceiling. Looks good. Only kitchen pics to share as this is the one and last room surviving with lighting point... counting... ... x'mas ... ...new year ... ...end of reno! ... ...CNY!

wow.. dun scare me... like that i must buy some grout jelly to patch up myself le. ur explanation on the lan network setup was great... i will try my best to disgest your info and perform the testing on that day. anyway, did my electrican missed out any items for the lan network setup? purely stating Data Access Point (cat6) is understanble what the outcome i want from him right?
-
wow... as i read on, i realised doing a network setup for a house is soooo complicated. i was quoted the following electrical work which include 4X data access point (cat6) by my electrican. but $3.5k seems very low for my electrician to cover his margin right, especially i am doing LAN network setup. but he said ok, can be done. will he give me lousy lan cables or etc? 10A lighting point X30 13A double point X 21 13A single point X2 20A water heater point (2-way switch) Data point (cat6) X4 Cooker hood /hob point X1 Oven point X1 Installation of lighting X30 Installation of fan fixture X4 1 set of MCB Door bell point with bell push button X1 SCV point X4 Telephone point X2 Air con point X1 2-way switch for lighting point @ living room X1 Total amount: $3500 therefore, can share your view how should i inspect /check the items that he is providing? although i am slightly IT savvy in my wife's view (hehehe), but network components are a big NO NO to me. please advise what are the required items for a lan network setup for a hdb room. Anything else that i should add to my electrical quote?

yea, most important is that u can trust that id. so between u and ur hubby, i will say that u r more involved with the entire reno? for my case, my wife need to take care of our 1.5month old baby boy, so almost all the decisions are made by me. but of course subject to her final review and appoval. hehe. glad that ur id has been rectifying problems for u quite promptly. what are some of the hiccups? probably i also wanna use ur experience to check on my work since we are almost on the same schedule. so far as i inspect on my tiling work, i dunno what to pinpoint. not that my id's workers are good, just that i dunno what is considered well done or badly done. i referred to some referrence from fellow t-bloggers ' experience to ook for cracked tiles, non-matching gout lines in between tiles and etc... didnt see any problem... hehehe.. maybe i too noob.
-
hi yumiko, ur id very generous leh. can give u 2 kitchen drawings for seletion. u have confirmed with him on the colour choice for the laminates, tiles and painting before he gave u these drawings? mine is pretty last minute. i got my drawing even before i can choose my laminates. worse still, cabinets also drew wrong one. no chimney candraw got chimney. got top cabinet can become no top cabinet. toilet drawing nothing to say. doesn't look like my toilet at all... hahah.. machiam from other projects then he gave to me to pacify me. but then my reno quote is so low liao, i paisay to ask my id to redraw 3 or 4 times for me to play with different colours. because his id firm outsource their drawing to freelance. L L

hihi yumiko. thanks for dropping by. glad to hear that we have the same 2nd appt date. in fact, mine was dragged super long. i bought this unit in April 2010, still cannot imagine i am still homeless as at this date. reason being it was a contra-transaction. the previous onwer couldn't find a house after selling us.... and it dragggggggg... glad that this long wait for hdb transaction is over! anyway, i have read ur t-blog too. very nice 3d drawing and layout u have. but didnt catch which contractor /id u r engaging for ur project? pricey? my quote was indeed very competitive. i was about to sign with Vincent (Ideas4Room) before this id from SDS decided to match and even lower it! haha... he was crazy then. so far, my WIP status more or less same as you. the initial 2 weeks very fast. but this 3rd week, they slowed down a lot. 4 more weeks to handover, but i still see sand and debris everywhere. dunno how they gonna catch up. hope i can just use remote control to fast forward this entire reno period to the hand-over date. i did a lot of self source for direct contacts such as windows, doors and glass work. how bout you? can share share reference. =)

Wow, nice reno u have there. Must praise that u and ur ID are zai. Mine is currently WIP, and i am quite tired of the whole process already. but after seeing urs, it gave me some new refreshing ideas again! i have few queries to ask you: 1. what is the brnd and colour code for your kitchen cabinet laminate? I saw ur photo stated Soho Teak from IamTAK. but i wanna confirm again. 2. How much is the WIW for the masterroom quoted by ExcelHW? Is it stable? Ikea one will shake and vibrate when i close the drawer. 3. How much you spent in total for the reno? I may wanna keep it for reference for my parents' reno. kekeke. 4. What's the quotes for your glass work (e.g. glass partition, shower screen and etc)? Many thanks!

Day 11 and 12 (Tiling and plastering) Masonry work currently left living room floor tiles. Plastering for whole house ceiling started yesterday. Went down to see the 60% completed work. Gotta say that i very happy to see smooth ceiling on my previous rockstone ceiling. -grin- I popped a question to my id yesterday. how do your workers answer their nature calls prior the installation of my WC? poo directly into the drainage!? tt's gross. I saw that what they did in Lawry (Weiken) t-blog. but my id said they will go public toilet like coffee shops... but my place is relatively remote. nearest coffee shop is 300m away! so, not convincing that they actually walked this far. so yesterday night, i tried to sniff hard in both bathrooms to smell any poo remains. glad i didnt smell anything. hahaha.
-
hi durianlane, congrats to your successful reno. wanna ask you how much ur id quoted you for new replacment of the bathroom pipes? mine is leaking. i asked my id to replace, he said VERY expensive but never tell me the price.
-
hi donal5, how's ur reno sourcing progress? =)
