[slanted laminate flooring in common bedroom 2] Earlier in my blog i mentioned about the slanted walls in this bedroom resulted in slanted laminate flooring. Apparantly, the walls are fine. The truth is: it is the HDB original door frame that is slanted. As such, worker used it as reference point and resulted in all the floor panels to be slanted 80 degree to the wall. After much complain, ID agreed to re-do the flooring for us and this time round, he will place them perpendicular to the 2 long walls, instead of parallel to the door frame which is slanted. Doing so, at least the only slanted floor panel will be at the door frame area which can be easily covered by a door mat. =) But re-do work will only start next Tuesday, 18-Jan-11 as he said my laminate is out of stock. This leads to a delay in my wardrobe installation too. But ID said we can move in first, since that room is vacant anyway.

nice reno progress u have there... reading ur t-blog makes me realised this fact: "Pay peanuts, get monkeys"... my ID's involvement in my project as compare to yours is a far cry. For the past 7 weeks (49 days), i only bumped into him once in the afternoon when he dropped by to measure the gas piping layout. hahahaha... sadz ah. if only he is so onz like ur ID, i guess many hiccups (which i will elaborated in detail once my reno is completed) of my reno will be avoided. saw ur newly purchase ICI paints so shiok... mine dunno from whose left-over. sob sobz. but it is an experience for my wife and myself. i guess i still look too young in late 20s (self compliment! ). ID sees my face like can makan. Maybe my next reno will be in my 30s. by then hopefully can project a more "uncle and no-nonsense" image to them. once again, u have a great reno and the BEST id which i have read so far. Will definitely keep him in my look-up list in future.

congrats! pls feedback on it when u start using it soon ah! think i will go thru the proper channel. hehe.. third party is scary...
-
Yeap, was worried abt this too. Unless third party is half price la, maybe still can consider. How fast can rsp like m1 get the optic fibre installed? U guys using optic fiber plan already? Is it really worth all the hassle to get it?
-
Ohhh got it. He is actually doing the top track (with ball roller system) for me, but modify another bottom track to it. So tt it will be more durable n lasting!
-
My electrician told me he has lobang to do opennet installation by third party. Shorter waiting time but same pricing. Hmmmm, advisable? If the device spoil in future, dunno if i can ask opennet ppl to repair or not. Geez
-
Yeap. Last week i told him tt my id workers scratched my masterbed room windows. He immediately patch them up for me next day. Btw, alex told me bi-fold got different types. 1. Bottom track; 2. Top track; and 3. Top & btm tracks. Waaa, didnt know abt this. Anyone did the top & btm track one? Steady or not? Hehehe. I guess typical id firms tt quote $220 to $250 is those cheap btm track one right?
-
bro, check with you on bi-fold doors for bathroom. ur $160 from unipac is bottom track, or top track, or top & bottom tracking system? i was told cheap one is bottom track. more expensive one if top track. top & bottom track most expensive. true?
-
ok guys, i accepted my fate for the slanted walls. id rectified my kitchen entrance finally! meaning i can get my glass door asap!!! everywhere is stopping production of tempered glass due to cny. hopefully i can still slot in as a last order. i decided to purchase 2 bi-fold doors and a sliding shower screen (acrylic; 1 fixed 2 sliding panels) from Alex (the contractor for my windows and grilles). Initially wanted to ask Mr Choo (Teck Guan) to do because of his low pricing, but decided to let Alex do the job because of his after sales service bah. carpentry starting tomorrow. next wednesday HO date. time race is on.

heyy bro, u got ur key already??? congratS!!! hahah i think plastering can resolve it. but think ur budget wont able to include whole house plastering. or else, u can ask the id /contractor to plaster that line or something. ask him dun charge lor. mine got those embedded roman flowery frame on 3 walls lor. even worse. they hack off the frame and apply some cement patching and paint it over. look fine to me now. =)

noo.. WIW still on pending list. the reno VO increased until my buffer become lesser than expected. We met the id today for pre-final inspection and to discuss the slanted wall thingy. apparently, the room and its 3 original walls are not slanted. it's the original door frame that is slanted. however, the id should have told me abt this before any masonry work was done. at least we can consider changing the door frame for abt $100. As the door frame is slanted, the sub-con workers used it as a reference point to lay the laminate panels. tt's why the entire room laminate flooring is not perpendicular (almost 70degree) to the the side walls. he said it's NORMAL practise that worker uses door frame as the reference point for floor laying, and not the wall itself. if client insist to change this normal practise, he will charge additional cost. hearing this, i was freaking mad and cursing him deep in my heart. he said he will go and investigate further to see whether it's his sub-con's fault in erecting the slanted wall. of course eventually he will tell me it's normal practise and i have to accept this piece of s.h.i.t. and live with it for many years to come. this is pushing me to the limit already. i continued to complain abt the kitchen entrance opening as well. the rubbishs, the poo /pee on my bathroom flooring, the pathetic protection sheet that covers only 30% of my kitchen, the scratches on my laminate flooring and doors. and his response was that to rectify all these will delay HO date. he knew that we are rushing for CNY, tt's why he used this to attack us.
