  1. can share the breakdown of lights? yup, have asked him for sample, hope the colour turns out nice
  2. ha ha, you guessed it, but no prize for the right answer need to put my spects and handphone, which serves as alarm clock. Due to space constraints, our layout only have one side table, so I decided to do those for my side lor, but a bit reluctant to eat into my wardrobe space. Any other suggestions?
  3. thanks, 15may. We wanted something different, it was between green, red or orange glass backing. My hubby prefers red, but i find that too fiery, I prefer lime green, which I thought will bring a soothing effect, but hubby thinks will look eerie at night, esp when light shine from the cabinet. So in the end, settle for orange lor - bright and vibrant kind, Big kitchen ah - hubby says i better really cook, otherwise kitchen for show only - and making the hall even smaller lor But now still pending PE endorsement for that wall, very lei cheh - wait wait wait actually i don't really like the mbr colour, find it too gloomy. Already room so small, think maybe change to somethng brighter - orange .. ho ho ho our bed frame comes with a simple headboard, so don't have that full height one in the picture. As for wardrobe, not enough also bopian, no other place liao. that's why we even extended another chest of drawer below the window. I find our layout got 2 places really wrongly built - 1. ledge window position, hence limiting wardrobe space. 2. service yard door - should either be flushed either left or right, but it's smacked right in the middle can check for downlights, did you get the 13A or 18A? single or double bulb type? btw when we buy downlight, does the price include the bulb ?
  4. wow, thank you everyone for your input. asked him why colour turn out so dark, he said it's about 80% correct. but he did say will get a sample of colour ya, that's what my hubby says also. just like that day we went to citigas, and the salelady told us the savings for using gas heater vs electric is (some figure which sounds so negligible). So for purpose of aesthetics, and since savings is so little, we decided not to use citigas heater.
  5. dun think so lah. prob many people asking for 3D, so to keep competitive, he also provide now. But he sub out to ID company to do, though
  6. do you mean the kitchen wall between kitchen and bomb shelter? that's almost 2.5 m right? Because I hack kitchen entrance, so can build cabinets all the way to where the kitchen entrance is. If not hacking kitchen entrance, then can only build cabinets about half that length, else block entrance. Does that answer yr query? I saw another house - what they did is build a small "fold up" table on that wall, as some kind of worktop. Otherwise, after putting the sink and hob, no more work space liao, esp if you plan to do a full height cabinet for oven.
  7. i thiink mega can definitely match GC price. When I was at mega just now, the prices they gave were slightly higher than Everjoint, but they matched. what i liked is they are big company, so i somehow feel safer. Also just need to put a deposit and the rest COD, Everjoint need to pay 100% during order. Besdes mega seems more flexible - or at least that's what they claimed - can change the order anytime. So in the end we decided on mega. Hope they don't disappoint.
  8. thanks. work top ah - but i like the sparkles of the black galaxy lei. unless use quartz, but that one more costly right? what's the "t' in 9 Ts cove lights?
  9. hi bearlyn you work at supersonic speed! buy so many things in one day - for me, must think think think and think. think the salesman sick of seeing me liao! But anyway today we also buy quite a few kitchen stuff. Visit my blog to find out was at gain city too but did not find prices very attractive, though did see many people buying the LCD tv. My hubby saw the the 3D LED display set going cheap, but I had to remind him it's display set lor for aircon, did you not find gain city price better than creative? We met people from both shops too, but also did not sign
  10. ha ha, we are one of the few who stayed up late to do RT homework lei! wow, which shop is the $21 one? So terrible? Some of the shops I walked into did not even have any price tags. Don't feel comfortble, so wallked out without after a short look-see
  11. Thanks, will go down for a look. meanwhile, can ask a few more qns? how long is the track? so does it work by plugging in the adaptor into the track or something? and can plug in as many adaptors as the length of track? sounds really useful, esp for the kitchen and computer area. but the system must be quite costly?
  12. where is lighting.com in balestier? I walked half of balestier road this evening, but did not see this shop. thought they are only at jalan besar. any idea if both stores carry the same items?
  13. I think that's fine too. For toilet, bombshelter and service yard, i will also go for no frills lights - cheap cheap ones.
  14. i hack the kitchen wall mah, so should be enough walking space?
  15. hi gals mama do you have any other lights in the gals rooms other than the downlights? Is 5 downlights enough to power? i thought of using 8 lights per room, with 2 per wall. Is that too over-powering, considering that my rooms are small? Is there a fomula to calculate how many lights psf kind of thing, like calculating the BTU required for aircon ? Maybe that's why my estimate for lights is so high!
  16. hi Joseng thought you are busy moving in and no time for RT liao! ha ha - this is new value added service --- value added to the price we pay lah you settled in already?
  17. Sunday, 4 July 2010 finally the 3D has come in, but I did not really like the end result. Wonder if the colour of real thing will be close to 3D colour print out, if so, think I will have to re-think colour combination. The last few days, did not post any updates because we have been busy going around shops, comparing prices and making decisions. Finally, today, we made a few purchases, which are somewhat different from what i had initially set my mind on. Here's what we bought, all from Kallang leisure Park 1. Electrolux oven EOB 53000 - finally decided not to get pyro or catalytic, but be more diligent in cleaning after each use. After months of reasearch, I was swayed from Brandt pyro to Bosch Eco to even Turbo, and finally Electrolux. Even whilst researching electrolux, it was hard to decide - between their new pyro (35000), the 66litre Australian made one (305) and finally the one I finally decided on. 2. Brandt hob 890 3. Brandt hood 658 From the onset, most RT review give good comments on Rinnai and Fujioh, so I had already set my mind on one of those. But since it's usually the first or last salesman that gets the deal (in this case the last), and hubby also did not like the fujioh 900 hood, I got swayed towards Brandt. So looks like I will have to update my signature Anyhow, I am glad we have come to a decision - it really wasn't pleasant thinking about all these unresolved issues knowing that reno is going to start anytime now. Also went to Balestier this evening in search of lights. Walked both sides of Balestier from the Bendemeer to Balestier Plaza, in and out of countless lighting shops, but did not see anything we like. And we did not realise that lights and fans can be so costly! Even downlights, which we needed so many. After returning home, we did a quick calculation - fan will set us back almost 1.5k (for a nice designer fan in hall and 3 normal ones for room), and lights maybe almost 2k! Out of curiosity, how much did all of you spend on lights and fans?
  18. and here's pictures galore! first, the kitchen (side 1) honestly, I must say I was quite disappointed with the way the colour turn out. Not quite the bright vibrant orange that I had liked? But is it always like that? 3D print out colour different from the real one? We had chosen beige laminate to go with the bright orange glass splash back, but the orange does not stand, and the beige looks white. Now we are re-thinking if it is better to do cabinets in colour and use clear glass splash back instead. Any comments? My hubby keep saying that's the prob with no ID, so we have to be ID and think creative and do colour scheme also find the glass back on the back wall (window) a bit weird - like the glass stopping in the middle of the wall. Wonder if can do whole wall colour? Dunno a bit overkill or not? Or maybe that whole wall don't do glass backing? and this is the other side of kitchen the orange looks dark right? wonder if it's due to reflection from the black work top? and finally, the mbr (without the headboard, there's supposed to be the ledge window above the chest of drawers) comments, please ...
  19. what do you mean by no difference? bet inv and non-inv? how come?
  20. ya ya, will scan and upload later. then hope comments will pour in, otherwise my turn to say "nobody reading my blog" liao
  21. is this a downlight or ceiling light? btw do you have a pic of yr kitchen eubiq system? how does it work?
  22. hi 15may when u say 11 downlights, is this for whole house or one room? my contractor say need 8 per room (2 per wall). How does your 11 lights breakdown into? Also, can share where you get yr decal from? very nice!
  23. hi bearlyn 2 comments on the layout 1. the sink depth you have drawn seems rather narrow. You sure can fit? We wanted to do this initially, but find that either have to sacrifice sink or hob length. But can't because both are equally important to me. That is why in the end, we decided to take out the hob and place on the other wall. 2. how come yr feature wall is so far away from the real wall? Also think the sofa allowance is too narrow. After getting keys, we jsut realised that the hall is really super mini scale, only 3m. So if put sofa (depth ususally 85cm to 1m), depth of tv console 50cm, that leaves little space in between. Initially we wanted a cabinet kind of console for added storage, luckily decided against it, otherwise will really looked super cramp. This is also why we find it very hard to find a sofa now - something big enough to be comfy, yet small enough to fit in place so hall looks "proportional". imho, the L shaped type will not work for us also
  24. wow yr house is looking good. I like the sofa, looks really comfy!
