you are quite right. the 8 lights break down as 2 lights per side, ie there will be 4 light switches. So usually my guess is only need to turn on 4. But just put in the rest for a complete and balanced look. also just in case, bc if don't fix next time need cannot add already- because will be "giving" a room each to the 2 girls when they are ready, so not sure how furniture will be arranged by then . so kiasu abit now ...

do you mean ceiling light? ok will be awaiting yr pix
-
wah matashi, you must be very tall?
-
yup, single is non inverter. was told that savings not much for a single, so no point

hall 5 mbr 4 rooms 8 each = 16 total 25 alot right? the 2 rooms are the killer, because no cove light so totally relying on the downlight. Actually I think no need so many, but 8 is because 2 per side. If only use 1 per side, sure not enough, if some walls 1 some walls 2, it may look uneven, so in the end we settle for 8 lor. You think it's overkill? But I dont think we need to turn on all 8, maybe 4 will do, depending on which part of the room we are using. So the rest are for a complete look only

ha ha .. lights really hard to match. But do they have price matching policy for fan as well? I remember seeing fans at the shop too

you read the reply from dexufto? about harvey 40" series 7 promo, with a free 32" at 3k plus? Actually for another 1k, get 3D tv plus another free - maybe really good deal hor but this series 7 is it the one that can convert 2D to 3D type?

I started wanting the Ariston openspace too, but read that their customer service sucks. That's very important to me, so with those comments means I will not consider things from mayer. Unless only they sell, then i guess no choice. I find Bosch a little too high tech for my simple unsophisticated mind -- too many digital functions. I am old fashioned and like things with manual control. ha ha. Of course the price is a big minus factor too. so for me, it was a hard fight between Brandt and Electrolux. Since i have also decided not to have a pyro or catalytic one, that leaves the entry level ovens, whcih are mostly 2 layer glass only. That's why in the end I picked Electrolux, albeit a higher end entry level one, for its 3 layer removable glass, though it comes at a slightly higher price tag than brandt's. Somehow i prefer German technology when it come to machines too. $899 is a really good buy - I got mine from mega, can't remember exactly how much, but I think it's 900+! And I thought i got a good bargain! Maybe I should call them to match ... sorry can't comment on the oven, still not laid hands on it yet, though i really can't wait for that day! thanks, I do have the price list. The corner unit and inner drawers are very costly. I would have loved the servos too, but way too much. So only using blum runners on wooden drawers. shh ... dun let hubby know! mine is from Aafrenz. Again can't remember how much per piece because I got a queen and 2 singles, salesman put lump sum $2197 - not getting mattress bc using existing one, but yes, it is more economical to get frame plus mattress, if you need one. You can go to their showroom for a look, they are at Northstar, between Yio Chu Kang Rd and AMK Ave 5, but access to building via Serangoon North

ha ha, also read many forumers' comments that lighting.com has the best price

For me, once I book I try not to see that thing already, in case later hand itchy want to change again

wow, I love your kitchen island - like those ang mo kitchen! So envious of all the space you have. and marble floor the EA - wow, must have cost a bomb! We want to do marble flooring for the hall of our mini scale 4room already felt so heart pain! what marble is this? can't really see clearly. And can I ask where you get them from? We have more or less decided on the marble we want, but since not paid, still open for more options .. Your contractor is doing bottom to top?

Hi dbkunfu wow, your house looks gorgeous! And the 3D and real pix really close! actually, throwing away things is common la, bc frm old house "bu she de" throw mah .. think i will also have to go through this exercise when mine is ready - right now they are tucked away in 2 storage boxes! My hubby (who was not around when we moved out from old place) said that I am mad to keep so many things- incur cost in storage, then after 3 months sure throw away one btw can check where you get your blum accessories from? The other day i went to shanghai tong lee, and was shocked that their price for drawer runners is higher than getting from blum direct! The salesman couldnt believe it too - he said there is price revision - but lower??

hi sam congrats, seems to be really fast!

hi 15may your house reno looks good! Congrats for your coming move in! For hall, I am also thinking of doing a similar lighting plan, but without the cove light on the tv side, but still have a nagging fear about shadows. Any feedback on that? May I ask what fan you are using inthe hall?
-
think it's bc you do not have those tv console with drawers? But think it's ok, once you put in the players etc, will be less obvious liao

what is flush in or flush out? You mean there are 2 ways to mount?

Wed, 7 july 2010 more bookings had been made the last few days, but forgot to take photos, will post once available 1. kitchen tile - originally wanted to cut cost, just lay the extended portion with the kitchen tile originally provided, but Edmund was afraid that he cannot get the same colour, so best to get entirely new ones. Besides we did not really like the tiles, so well got to spend on this, plus hacking etc 2. marble - yes, finally decided on this too - it's a beige based one. Much as we wanted the 60x60, we can only afford 30x60. Hope it turns out well too. 3. aircon - also confirmed getting Mit 3 inverter plus single split. The single with 18k BTU, according to them, more than enough. Can check what BTU is your hall unit? And one lesson i have learnt over and over - do not confirm any furniture until all trunking, power points etc fixed, then measure again to get the real dimension. Luckily we did not place any order for my girls' wardrobe, because they will probably not fit into the space due to aircon trunking. Also make sure you check all the beams etc, becase some wardrobes are higher and again, may not fit. Right now,we are also going through the lighting plan for the house. looks like we are going to need 25 downlights! Help help - i need to find a place that sells the cheapest downlights now!

are these the sumsung LED? which series? Due to budget constraints, think we can only settle for one tv at the moment, since he wanted LED. Actually I don't mind LG, since it's technology is up and coming, but hubby prefers sumsung - he thinks better colour - but to me, all tv are the same, can watch can liao btw can share how much you pay for the 2 tvs? We still haven't booked, hoping for price to drop some more

Oh, wow, ya he did call to delay, so you are the culprit ah ... he he ... welcome! welcome! Where is your new place? oh, so what are you looking for? so far, i have cofirmed quite a few items already, so can share for easy price comparison. One of the most tiring exercise I find is going round shops to check pricing, so RT does make things easier! wor, can share what kind of stuffs he give? I also want lei yes he did, but i still prefer blum. don't know if this is the right decision, we'll see .. thanks, that's a 3D? Not cheap leh, now that he is convinced 55" is too big for our hall, he is diverting his attention to a 3D! And the two girls are on his side. But I think it's a wish only, just too $$ to afford at the moment, will prob settle for a 46" series 5 yup, these 2 items confirmed. which electrolux you eyeing on?
-
thanks. this reno process is very interesting - learn alot of new things. I used to think light is either white (like those flourescent tube), yellow (those round bulb) or the coloured ones. Did not know got so many types of white light ..
-
wah, floppy, very chim leh .. but i will try to understand ok, so for ceiling, best to do white or light colour. But if, say, we have false ceiling and cove light, ie ceiling is 2 heights, is there a way to make the "higher" ceiling look even taller and further away? ie is it a good idea to use 2 colours for the ceiling? If I use a lighter colour for the "lower ceiling" and a darker tone for the "higher ceiling", does it achieve that effect? Or vice versa? sorry, I tried, but am totally lost amidst your explanation about wall colours in mbr. Do you mean to pick a colour for "headboard wall",then the other 3 walls of a darker tone of that first colour? In this case, then means the headboard wall colour got to be light, otherwise the whole room will be really dark, isn't it? oh, I thought it should be choose laminate colour first, then paint colour, and lastly bed frame colour?
-
ok ok, just checked yr blog. what colour bulb did you use for the hanging lights?
-
hi floppy so funny froggy and floppy .. what is an advancing colour? anyway, no la, don't think i want an orange bedroom - too bright (you are right, will keep me up all night), but brown is alittle dark too. Any suggestions of bedroom colours that are cosy, soothing yet not to loud, not to gloomy? esp for a small room? check also, do you all paint your room walls and ceiling one colour? Thought of using a different ceiling colour, or maybe a room with walls of 2 different colours. last, what goes with orange, other than beige? For kitchen, If I maintain the orange (or red) for glass backing, and want the 2 colour cabinets like what gals mama suggested, what can go well? Mine is a black galaxy worktop.

honestly, I really not sure about this. Because contractor submitted for reno permit, but was told he need to get PE endorsed for hacking a wall. So now he had to go to PE to chop before submitting again ... waste my time lei ... but good thing is other work can go on first. but he did mention some cases, need to make appt with PE and HDB people to be around to witness hacking, so more time may be "wasted" since need to coordinate more parties. So you see, I also not so sure, wonder if anyone can throw more light on this?
